“It’s pink so I’ll take it.” Kennedy instinctively reaches out for the drink. They do enjoy strawberry milk, though, and they appreciate the gesture. “Do you not enjoy it enough to drink both of them?” Which is the only think that comes to mind other than being able to tell that it’s genuinely just a kind gesture. 

                   𝒕𝒉𝒆  𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒕𝒉  𝒘𝒂𝒔  𝒕𝒐𝒐  𝒉𝒖𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈  for  him  to  disclose  at  first  ,  but  he  didn’t  want  to  seem  like  he  had  any  ill  intentions  for  his  gesture  .  “  i’m  actually  lactose  intolerant  ...  i  know  i  can  only  handle  one  at  once  ,  and  i’m  not  going  back  to  my  place  until  later  so  i  didn’t  want  it  to  just  stay  out  with  me  in  this  heat  .  ”  he  let  out  a  small  chuckle  ,  “  that  was  so  embarrassing  to  admit  for  some  reason  .  ”

                𝒂  𝒔𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕  𝒃𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒉  𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔  his  cheeks  ,  not  expecting  himself  to  come  off  in  such  a  way  .  sunny  was  a  bit  flustered  ,  and  a  small  chuckle  escaped  his  lips  as  he  played  along  ,  “  yeah  ,  i  was  getting  to  that  .  drinking  strawberry  milk  together  would  be  better  than  alone  ,  y’know  .  ”  he  could  literally  feel  his  brain  malfunctioning  ,  choosing  to  take  a  sip  of  the  drink  to  cover  up  how  taken  aback  he  felt  .

Hana watched Honey as he answered her, not noticing that she hadn’t told him but what was more concerning was that he seemed to be upset. She didn’t even care about the week she had just had, all she could feel was the anxiousness of knowing what was wrong with Honey. “What’s going on?” She asked, not even hearing what he had said in response to her, “is everything okay?” She continued speaking, almost as if it would make him answer her quicker. 

             𝒉𝒆  𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚  𝒅𝒊𝒅𝒏’𝒕  𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕  to  tell  her  the  truth  ,  not  liking  the  idea  of  confronting  her  .  however  ,  when  he  was  asked  ,  he  felt  some  of  his  frustrations  slip  out  in  a  sigh  .  “  i  just  ...  i  don’t  really  know  ?  what  are  we  ?  you  just  leave  for  weeks  at  a  time  without  giving  me  a  heads-up  and  then  come  back  like  that’s  just  fine  .  i  feel  like  i’m  kind  of  being  played  with  ,  or  rather  ,  my  feelings  are  getting  played  with  .  because  i  do  like  you  a  lot  ,  but  i  just  think  i’m  the  only  one  who  really  feels  that  way  ...  ”  he  takes  a  second  to  compose  himself  ,  “  i  don’t  know  ,  i  just  feel  a  little  frustrated  ..  ”

Hana spotted Honey’s smile, it felt like something was off but she wasn’t sure what. Did he have a bad day? Was something going on? “I’m happy to see you, duh.” She said as if it was obvious, which was indeed why she was beaming. “I went to Mt. Everest. Didn’t I tell you?” She asked, confused herself. “Anyways, how are you? How was your day?” She asked, wanting to change the subject to him to see what was bugging him. Or maybe he was just tired?

               𝒕𝒉𝒆  𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒆  𝒐𝒇  𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓  relationship  was  getting  him  more  and  more  frustrated  .  honey  was  self  aware  in  his  own  anxiousness  ,  but  didn’t  want  to  drag  hana  into  it  because  she  seemed  happy  .  however  ,  lately  ,  they  weren’t  really  communicating  with  each  other  .  they  didn’t  talk  as  much  as  they  used  to  ,  and  he  didn’t  want  to  seem  clingy  about  it  at  all  either  .  another  thing  was  ,  honey  considered  hana  his  girlfriend  ,  but  they  never  really  put  a  title  on  their  relationship  to  begin  with  .  so  maybe  he  was  reading  into  it  ,  but  he  wasn’t  sure  .  “  i  think  you  might  have  forgotten  to  tell  me  ,  that’s  fine  .  i’m  glad  you  had  fun  ...  ”  he  didn’t  know  what  to  say  next  ,  hoping  she’d  somehow  not  notice  his  down  mood  .

juniper shook her head, shocked that anyone would ever say that.  “i just don’t get it. who tells an artist to stay away from their craft? that’s crazy!”  talk about wasting what was clearly a gift melody was giving out for free. some people were just so ungrateful. juni wiggled her fingers, magic sparking off them like a live wire.  “nah, dude, that’s just wrong.”  she raised a brow, glint in her eye.  “do you want me to go beat ‘em up? just say the word and i’m on it.”

              𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈  𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒌  𝒐𝒏  𝒊𝒕  𝒏𝒐𝒘  ,  she  was  aware  that  maybe  she  was  being  a  little  overdramatic  .  however  ,  it  still  had  hurt  her  feelings  ,  and  she  didn’t  want  to  be  reasonable  about  it  .  melody  nodded  her  head  ,  “  that’s  totally  what  i’m  saying  !  how  could  they  do  that  to  me  ?  ”  she  loved  it  when  juni  was  willing  to  beat  someone  up  for  her  ,  what  are  friends  for  ,  right  ?  she  grinned  ,  “  next  time  i  see  them  ,  i’ll  tell  you  and  we  totally  should  start  yelling  to  disturb  their  peace  !  make  them  really  regret  it  ,  y’know  ?  ”

“I am, and you’re late,” Dahlia states, trying not to look too weary as she glances at the other demigod. She was already in a bad mood, not wanting to sub for a defense class at all. She’d rather be back on the field as soon as possible, doing missions and investigating what the hell was up with that griffin they fought, making some kind of progress instead of being stuck here, remembering all the ways she could have done better that night in the woods. Management said she had to focus on recovery before getting back on the field. Subbing for a special defense class that wouldn’t have been added to the curriculum if things had turned out differently that night didn’t feel too much like recovery for Dahlia, but she knows that’s just her. She gets why these decisions were made. She just doesn’t like it. She sighs. “Keep the cupcake. I can forget you colliding into me, but you’re still going to be marked tardy.”

                      𝒕𝒉𝒆  𝒄𝒖𝒑𝒄𝒂𝒌𝒆  𝒇𝒆𝒍𝒍  𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕  from  her  hands  onto  the  floor  .  the  utter  shock  on  her  face  could  have  been  seen  as  comical  ,  if  not  for  the  seriousness  of  the  situation  .  she  had  never  ever  been  tardy  like  this  before  ,  and  she  didn’t  know  if  this  meant  she  had  to  make  it  up  somehow  .  “  i’m  sorry  miss  teacher  ,  it  won’t  happen  again  !  you’re  not  going  to  make  me  do  a  billion  push  ups  now  or  something  ,  right  ?  i’m  not  cut  out  for  that  !  ”  she  threw  the  cupcake  out  ,  getting  into  her  assigned  spot  in  the  class  .  she  didn’t  even  know  why  they  all  had  to  do  this  ,  it’s  not  like  any  form  of  special  defense  would  help  her  case  .  she  was  far  too  small  to  do  anything  ,  and  it  felt  like  a  sort  of  waste  to  her  .

                𝒔𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏  𝒅𝒂𝒚𝒔  𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆  𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓  felt  longer  .  a  whole  week  that  hana  wouldn’t  return  his  calls  or  texts  ,  and  this  wasn’t  something  new  but  it  was  very  disheartening  .  how  could  someone  that  supposedly  cares  for  him  just  leave  him  hanging  for  so  many  days  at  a  time  ?  without  even  telling  him  that  they’d  be  gone  ,  on  top  of  that  .  he  understood  that  hana  was  spontaneous  ,  however  ,  it  was  starting  to  get  to  him  .  the  boy  feigned  a  smile  to  welcome  her  back  ,  “  hana  .  you  seem  pretty  happy  ,  did  you  go  somewhere  ?  ”

“Honey!” Hana exclaimed as she spotted him walking into the sun resident, which is where they both lived. Quickening her steps to a light jog, she caught up with him before gently tugging on the sleeve of his shirt to stop him, smiling widely with excitement that she’s seeing him again after a week of her thinking it was a great idea to try to climb Mount Everest.
