Hello, I would like to ask about the moment in the manga with the "marriage vows". Is it true that this has some hidden meaning and can be used as an argument for the canonicity of the Sherliam or is this an invention of shippers?

To be honest, when I first read this manga myself, I just took Billy’s line as a joke — the kind of thing friends say to each other — and nothing more. Of course, everyone is free to interpret it in their own way, especially since the author clearly left some room for personal interpretation. As for that particular “vow” scene — if you take it out of context and look at it as it is alone, then yes, it can come across with certain undertones. But when you consider the story as a whole, to me personally, it’s really nothing more than a bit of friendly banter. As for “using this as an argument for shipping” — well, shipping doesn’t need arguments.

Sherliam fans would have married them off even without those couple of pages. Shippers are unstoppable when it comes to their ship.

I am explaining this phrase by Albert, which he said in the manga, as people laugh too much about it, although the phrase once again reflects his belief:

The number of the beast, 666, which John the Apostle wrote about to give his descendants an understanding of when the Final Judgment would occur, most likely refers to the constellation of Orion, which is represented by three ancient Greek letters – Chi, Xi, and the numerical Digamma. As we see, the stars play a huge role here. In ancient times, temples were always built specifically so that the reflection of the starry sky would be projected onto the Earth. The phrase of Christ – I am the Alpha and the Omega – speaks of a certain cyclical nature, where the Alpha star must take the position of Omega, and thus, the Final Judgment will come.

So, the phrase simply reflects "I Am the Beginning – I Am the End" – the entire plan of James Moriarty, when they passed judgment on the British system.

In our modern world, their hobbies would differ little from those they already pursued, albeit with some adaptations to suit the present year. Here is my take on what their interests might be:

William James Moriarty

By canon, he enjoys creating ciphers, which naturally makes him an adept in programming and cryptographic security. Beyond that, I can absolutely picture him as a member of the university chess club where he teaches—surely, he deserves a moment of leisure, engaging in pursuits he never had the time for in his past life. That said, I do not see him as a professional chess player, but rather as a keen and discerning connoisseur of the game. Lastly, I would add cryptocurrencies and card games to his list of interests.

Sebastian Moran

This is proving more challenging than I expected, but among his hobbies, motorsports would certainly be one—motorbikes, high-speed racing, all things adrenaline-fuelled. Even if he isn’t behind the wheel himself, he would undoubtedly follow the sport with great enthusiasm. He would also be an avid collector of weaponry—I can easily imagine him amassing a collection of wartime knives from the WW2, acquired through auctions. I can discuss this in more detail -so to speak, provide more food for thought - if people in the fandom are interested. However, personally, I don’t believe in these attempts to assign diagnoses to every character and so on, simply because, in this case, I don’t care. I’m more inclined to believe it was an artistic technique to illustrate how much William thinks and how much weight he carries on his shoulders. So, I don’t believe in this diagnosis of his, just as I couldn’t care less about whatever other labels the fandom tries to attach to him.

Type 2 narcolepsy is a chronic neurological disorder characterised by excessive daytime sleepiness without cataplexy, meaning individuals experience sudden and uncontrollable sleep episodes but do not suffer from the sudden loss of muscle tone seen in type 1.
