My Favorite makeup to use when I go out to a nice dinner or to a party.

So first I fill in my eyebrows with Loreal Paris, brow stylist plumper. After I do my brows I do eyeshadow and I use the Morphe palette 350. I usually use the colors on the last two rows on the right. After my eyeshadow is done I put eyeliner on my lash lines. I use a eyeliner pencil for like and it's called Ciate Wonderwand Gel Eyeliner. For mascara I first use a empty mascara brush and brush my eyelashes and then I use the younique moodstruck epic mascara. That’s it for the eyes.

Now the face: first I more strides my face and I use Neutrogena hydro boost Water-Gel. Then I use primer. I use the NYX primary spray or I use the Ulta beauty Matte face primer. Right now I don’t have a lot of acne so I use a light foundation from Fit Me. If I need concealer or use the Maybelline New York master conceal.

Now the fun stuff, if I use bronzer I use the Clinique true bronze in the color Sunkiss. If I contour, I use the NYX highlight and contour pro palette. For highlight I use a couple different ones it depends on the look I’m going for or what I feel like doing. I use the elf moonlight pearl highlighter or I use glow glam baked illuminating highlighter or use a highlighter in the NYX highlight and Contour pro palette.To set it all I use L’Oreal Paris infallible pro spray and set.

Last but not least is lips. For every day I usually do Rosie pinks or like natural tone browns. But for like a dinner or party or you to go for darker colors like today I am wearing the NYX liquid suede in the color club hopper. I let it dry for a few minutes and then over it I put the NYX Cosmic Metals in the color galactic love.

Lipsense

Lipsense is a company that produces a long lasting lip stain that can last all day. It also comes in over fifty shades. It is waterproof, and can’t be smeared-off, kissed-off, or rubbed-off. So that’s pretty cool.

My mother buys them all the time and sold them too for a short time. She loves them and wears it everyday. She says it’s easier because she doesn’t have time to worry about recoating her lipstick. The product does work really well if you put it on correctly, if you don’t it looks terrible and messy.

It’s not a lipstick to wear if you are rushing out the door it takes time to put on. This is because you have to put on three layers and each layer has to dry before you put the next one on. Also it not like other lipstick were you just go back and forth. You have to do one stroke for each side and one it the middle then let it dry and do it again. If you don’t to it properly it will get sticky and peel off. So practice before you use it for real. Also it doesn’t look like the pictures, unless you have been doing it forever and have mastered it. It does look uneven and if you don’t moisturize them, your lips will look dry. Also make sure your lips aren’t cracked because it will burn.

I don’t hate them or anything, they are just not my thing. I feel like it’s just to much work and I don’t mind recoating my lipstick. Sometimes I realize my lipstick looks better when it a little worn off. Also I just feel like it’s a mom product. It’s just mom colors and the whole style of it. It might just have to do with the fact that the only people I know who wear it is moms.

Part two

Last week I did make up from the 1950s to the 1980s, this week i’m going to continue the list. Going from the 1990s to 2017.

1990: At the beginning people went for the grunge look, it was inspired by the music that was popular at the time. For the eyes they wore heavy black eyeliner, sometime smeared. They wore mascara to make the eyes look darker. Eyebrows were not done most of the time. It was popular to wear glitter on the lips, cheeks, and eyes. Matte, pale skin was in so face makeup was often lighter than their skin tone. Lips were more dark metallic colors.

In the mid-90s they went for the more natural look not glamourse at all. Wearing neutral and brown-toned makeup with matte skin and lips. Browns and light pink was wore on the eyes, lighter shade on the lid and a darker shade on the crease. Eyeliner on the top only and highlighter on the brow bone. Foundation was matte and applied all over the face and powder was dusted on top. Darker reds were worn in the evening while neutral tones were worn in the day. Lip liner was worn always. Brows were well-kept, some what thick, and sometimes bleached.

Late 90s was the bare-face, no makeup look. No foundation, just moisturizer, and concealer if necessary. Very light or no blush. For the eyes, they put cream foundation or white liner. Clear mascara and clear gloss was in and often worn. Eyebrows were thicker.

2000s: In this time everyone kinda did their own thing. Some people did the frosty lips, eyeliner, and the pink cheeks.

While other people did lots of purple eye makeup and purple lips.

Celebrities hard the craziest makeup trends. Like Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and couple other people. They wore colorful, heavy, dramatic eye makeup. Also pink blush and pale brown or pink lips. Eyebrows went from thick brows to really thin.

I think I might stop here because the rest of the years are kinda the same looks but picking and choosing from the different times.

Makeup throughout time

For this blog I’m going to be talking about the change of makeup styles throughout time. Starting in the 1950 and ending in the1980. I’m going to go by tens until the end.

1950’s:

As a base the woman would use a ivory cream.

For foundation they used liquid or cream that was close to the natural skin color. Then they would used a skin colored powder to set the foundation. Eyes came next, for eyeshadow they used subtle colors like brown. For eyebrows they did light natural colored brows. The wing eyeliner became very popular in this time. For lashes it was subtle and usually they upper lashes only. At this time they didn’t contour or highlight but they did use blush. The blush colors were pastel and rose and they were applied on the bumps of your cheeks.

Lips were usually shades of red and with the lipstick they would make an illusion that look like they were smiling.

1960’s:

Eyes were the most important part of the makeup in this time especially eyeliner. Liner was doubled up at the end of the lid and white liner was drawn down over the upper lid to the inner corner. For eyeshadow the most popular colors were grey, white, and blue. Eyelashes were placed on both top and bottom lashes for a ‘flapper’ effect. In the beginning they would use a lot of colored powder but at the end they used a little of translucent powder. Lips were pale pinks and reds outlined with pencil.

1970’s:

Girls in this time wanted more of the natural but tamed look. For foundation to use light liquid formulas or pearl powders for a healthy glow.

Eyebrows were brushed and tamed with clear mascara for a natural look. Eyeshadow were usually shimmery and usually wear blue but some were greens and brown. Mascara was on both bottom and top of the lashes but not a much on the bottom as the 60’s. Powdered bronzer was applied all over the face and berry shades for the cheeks. Lips were either pink, nude pearl lipstick or shiny clear lip gloss.

1980’s:

Natural makeup was kind of thrown out the window was all about the crazy colors and the painted on makeup. For eyeshadow they usually used pink, blue and purple. With a bright lip most of the time pink. With lots for blush on the cheeks.

Another look was the darker rocker eye and the pink lip and a strong bottom eyeliner. This one in my opinion was a hot mess kinda and made you look like a raccoon.

How to?

For today I’m going to be talking about a how to do contouring and Ombré lips.

First Ombre lips:

If you don’t, it is basically when you have a color on the outer part of your lips and then a lighter color in the inner part then you blend. The picture is from AlexandrasGirlyTalk.

I alway put chapstick on before I put lipstick on because the lipstick doesn’t last as long or harder to apply when your lips are dry and crack.

After a few minutes wipe off the chapstick.

If you have a uneven lip color you may want to put foundation over your lips for a more even color.

After that use a darker lip pencil and trace your lips and fill in a little on the corners and the edging of your lips.

Then get a lighter color and fill in the middle of your lips.

You can then get a brush and gently blend or you can Press your lips together five to ten times. It just really depends on what works for you

Also use matte lipstick.

Then just fill in any spot you missed or want darker.

When your done with the lips clean up the edges with foundation or concealer. For nice clean lines.

Then your done, it’s easier than it looks.

Contouring with sticks:

I usually use stick Foundation to contour because it’s easier to apply for me. Also the picture below is from Jennifer Chiu.

Trace your face: Contour is used to minimize features or make them stand out. If you have a larger forehead then make dots or lines in the hairline. People usually want to cheekbones to stand out to do this you find the hollow part on the sides of your face usually right under cheekbone. That is where you put the contour.

Blend it in: To blend I use a beautyblender that is damp. You tap small circular motions using the side of the beautyblender.

Using the lighter stick: The lighter stick you like a concealer. You put under you eyes and if you want your can put it on center of the forehead, chin, bridge of the nose. Of course it in along with any extra product.

Powder: Using a translucent powder, dust entire face, this helps Secure the foundation and contour.

KKW

KKW beauty Kim Kardashian’s makeup line has some good and bad views. People might not like it because they don’t want to support the Kardashian family or they just think it’s horrible. I literally watched a thirteen minute video on why not to buy it.

They video by Alexandra Anele was title “DO NOT BUY KKW Beauty Contour & Highlighting Sticks Review.” It on YouTube if you want to watch it but I’m going to go over some things she said. Also I want to add that she is not a Kim hater she was excited about the products at first. So first things was to size and they packaging.

The packaging was cheap it was not in a box it a a tan/nude bag the looks like something your Starbucks food would come in or like a trash bag. Also it was kinda boring it was just brown with lighter brown writing that said her names.

The products themselves were tiny like they were the same size as a Tarte concealer but a little thinner. When you opened them and rolled them all the way up, they would be the same size or smaller than a fake nail.

If they didn’t break, yeah also they break super easily. If you roll them up and add pressure they will crumble it’s a joke. Also after like two uses you are like almost out.

She also showed a clip of her putting it on and it look more natural. It also came with a brush and sponge duo. That was kinda a mess. The brush is flat and hard. It works good if you have perfect skin but if you are acne prone or have blemishes don’t use it. It was just take off your foundation.

Once it was on the makeup looked really nice and natural and the shape on the stick are good. But they kinda work for nose and eye Contour because they are so small. The products just felt and looked cheap. But it is her first launch so it will get over time.

Now the powder contour and highlighting kit. I watched another video about this one and it was mostly good they was a few bad thing like the bronzer and contour for the light kit was way to warm for pale skin tones. The video is by Nikkie Tutorials, one of my favorite youtubers, and it is called “KIM KARDASHIAN:KKW BEAUTY - POWDER CONTOUR & HIGHLIGHTING KIT REVIEW!”

She loved it but complained a lot about it being too warm but at the end and with full makeup it worked. The contour brush didn’t blend very well she likes her brush better. But the highlighter are amazing they glow to the gods. They are the perfect colors and the brush is so fun and easy to use. The powders came in a box to they did look a lot nicer overall

Lips!!!

There is so many different type of lip gadgets: lip plumpers, lip mask and so many more. You always see them on youtube and social media. I have used a couple and most of the time they work. The really cheap don’t really work but the nicer ones actually do. They are great gift to give someone because they are funny looking.

Lip plumpers: There is two different types, there is lipsticks and glosses or there is device suctions. The suctions come in all different shapes and sizes. For example there is large round, small and medium oval so you can find the shape that fits you best. The downside it that, it does not really last that long and that if you have it on too long it can cause bruising and swelling. The lipstick to me are easier and better over all.

When I was younger I always used this lip glosses called Sexy Mother Pucker. I loved it, it made you lips fuller but it also made your ip tingly, it was so cool feeling. I naturally have pretty full lips so it didn’t make that big of a difference on me but my mom and sister have thinner lips and it really worked on them. Plus it comes in a bunch of colors and if it starts to wear off you can just reply without the trouble. It also looks more natural.

Lip mask: A lip mask is like a face mask it replenishes and moisture your lip to give them a smoother, healthier look to them. They come in different shapes and colours too. I have seen gold, pink, and clear so far. It depends on you lips but you don’t put it on everyday but maybe every two or three days. For a minute or two a time. The best lip treatment in my opinion is the Mary Kay and it's a pretty good price and can last for a good time. The Mary Kay one is a cream. There are my others like at Sephora there is one for like $3.00 and you keep it on for fifteen minutes and this one is more of a mask.

Hair coloring

So this blog is all about hair coloring. In the passed blogs I have mention that I color my hair so I will be talking about so tip and my expenses doing it. The first time I colored my hair was the middle or close to the end of freshman year. I wanted to do pink but I naturally had light brown or a dirty blonde so I had to bleach it. I hate bleaching my hair, it’s so painful to me. For some people it doesn’t hurt but like for me I almost cry every time. The first time I bleached it, I kept it for a week to give my hair a break.

I wish I didn’t the color was horrible it was like yellow. So the first time I dyed it pink I didn’t read the box and bought semi-permanent dye, it only lasted a week and it was really light. So, next time I read the box and got permeant and it lasted like four months and didn’t redo at all. The color fade but it was still really pretty. After the four months I finally recolored it because try roots were crazy, so I bleached it again. Only because I had to because the next color was purple and the pink was to bright.

I had purple hair over the summer so many people from my school never knew I had it. Right when I did I hated it because it was really dark so it made me look whiter than printer paper. Then after a few week it got light and it was quite pretty but it didn’t last very long.

The next color is the color I still have at the moment is like a platinum blonde. Getting it this color was hard because the color from the last two would not go away. I bleached my hair like three times, I used toner, and like color removed. After a light while the color faded but you can still see it and my hair has been this way for around three months. After Halloween I hopefully be dying it blue. I’m keeping it because for Halloween I’m been Betty from Riverdale.

Hair coloring tips:

If you want to color to last long wash hair under colored water and maybe don’t take showers everyday.

Don’t always pick a color based on the box. It never looks like that. One time I brought a light pink and when I put it on it was like hot pink.

Know your skin tone. If you have pale skin be careful using dark colors because it can make you look paler.

Alway buy two boxes. Unless you have like super short hair but still just in case. I will be coloring my hair and I’m only halfway done and I run out so I have to go get more. It’s a pain because you has to beg someone to go get you some or go halfway done.

Have chapstick close. It helps keep color off of your skin, so before starting just rub some on forehead.

Makeup Artist

Pat McGrath is a British makeup artist. Recoding to Vogue magazine and many other commentators McGrath is the most influential makeup artist in the world. She was born on June 11, 1970, that makes her forty-seven years old. It all started when she worked as a receptionist in order to support herself from there she slowly build her career as a world wide know makeup artist. As McGrath said,” Build your career slowly; than people start to trust you and pay you well.” Her breakthrough came when she was working with Edward Enninful ( a British fashion stylist and chief editor of the British Vogue Magazine) when her use of color “brilliantly solved the world’s ennui with grunge.”

In the 1990s she had the pleasure to work with both Jil Sander (minimalist German fashion designer and the founder of the Jil Sander fashion house) and John Galliano ( British fashion designer who was the head designer of French fashion companies). While we was working there MaGrath became known for her unique makeup looks like vinyl lips, bodies drenched in powder paint and etc. She is also known for using her fingers more than using brushes. She prefers using her own hand saying it easier and better overall. As McGrath said in interview with Vogue.com UK explaining where she gets her ideas, “I'm influenced a lot by the fabrics that I see, the colours that are in the collections, and the girls' faces. It's always a challenge but that's the key – to make it different every time.” Pat McGrath was and still is a talented inspiring person and artist.

Another talented artist is Mario Dedivanovic also known as Kim K’s makeup artist. He was born in New York City. He didn’t always love makeup his first love we Frequence. His first job was at Sephora working in the Frequence department. It wasn’t until a woman came up to him while he was working and ask him for help to pick out a lipstick. After that he was obsessed. Before he worked with Kim he was with Fox News. He hard a rough start because most of the women didn’t trust him to do their makeup. Then one day they put Julie Banderas in his chair and recording to Dedivanovic the first time he worked with “I did her makeup and she was like, ‘Holy shit, this is insane. Who is this kid?” After that the other woman who worked there felt more comfortable with him doing there makeup.

He met Kim K in 2008 when he was working for a magazine called Social Life. At first he was not sure who she was but he thought she was one of the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. After the shoot she made him take her shopping to show her everything he used. And they have been working together since.

Rihanna final released her makeup line called Fenty after two years of development. The makeup line contains no eyeshadow, lipstick, eyeliner, or mascara. She has one lip gloss called the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer. It's a peachy-bronze color with flecks of gold shimmer. It also isn't sticky like other glosses but slick and moisturizing, the gloss also has a fruity vanilla scent to it.

The Fenty makeup line main focus was makeup that fits most skin color. She has forty liquid foundation shades. The foundation is one of the most sweat and humidity proof foundation but it still looks undeniable skin-like. The foundation might look like medium-coverage right out of the tude but within minutes of putting it on it will not budge. Fenty has six powder highters and two brush. One for on the go and one that you can keep at home. The on the go one looks like a lipstick but it’s not. The at home one is long and gets thin at the end. The brush part of it is pink and vertical. If you are not a fan of powder highlighter she has a stick that comes in ten shades. Rihanna also has trio sets that has concealer, contour, and highlighter, that comes in four shades. If you like a highlight from one and a concealer from another you can also customize your own set so it's perfect for you. Rihanna also carries blotting paper and powder for when you get oily throughout the day. The paper comes in a little roll and you can buy refills for. She also have a touch up brush for the powder.

A Little about Rihanna and what inspired her to create Fenty Beauty. Her real name is Robyn and when she was a little girl she would watch her mother putting on makeup. When she first experienced makeup she fell in love and never looked back. It was a way for her to express herself and all her moods. But what really made her want to make this brand was years of experimenting with experts and she was still seeing the holes in make industry's not having products for all skin types and tones. Fenty Beauty products is for hard to match skin types and to feel lightweight. Said by Rihanna“Makeup is there for you to have fun with,” “It should never feel like pressure. It should never feel like a uniform. Feel free to take chances, and take risks, and dare to do something new or different.” She wanted to make a brand that was different and more diverse.

Q &A

For today's blog I decided to have my sister ask my questions on makeup and hair since she isn't as experienced and wanted to know my techniques. I thought this would be nice too for people to see my way of doing makeup and get to know me more. 1. So when did you get into makeup and why? I got into makeup at 14 and because I thought it would be fun to try and I had bad acne. 2. If you had only time for one product what would it be? My eyebrow pencil and then my gel. I can't do anything without my brows done. It's like brushing your teeth in the morning for me. 3.What does an everyday school makeup routine look like for you? My eyebrows of course, unique powdered foundation, Buxom and covergirl Mascara. Then to finish it off I do a simple lip like a pale pink or drown with a gloss. 4. What are your thoughts on those new eyebrow trends like making them look like a feather, swigle, or putting a braid on them? I think they are cool for like pictures or professional photo shoot but for everyday wear no, especially the feather trend. My favorite out of them all have to be the braid one, if it is well done.

5. Favorite lip color or colors? For everyday I like to do a more natural like light pink or browns with pink shades. For not everyday looks I like more reds and purples and sometimes even blue.

6. Favorite facials features that you like to accentuate? I like it all but lips or eyes the most. I have full lips so I like to make them noticeable. Also I have blue eyes so I like to make them stand out.

7. What areas do you usually Contour? If I contour I alway do my cheekbones, chin, and forehead lightly. I do my nose once in awhile. 8. What has been your favorite hair color? I have had a couple hair colors like hot pink, light pink, dark purple, light purple, and blonde. My natural hair was light brown. My favorite has to be the light pink or blonde.

9. For dances like prom would you like to do your own makeup or get it done? Well I would prefer to do it myself because I know what looks best in me and what I want but it's also just easier to get it done. 10. What color would you like to dye your hair in the future? I really want to do blue or red in the future. My hair is blonde right now and I'm going to keep it this way until Halloween but after I might do blue. Then after blue I'm going to go to a more natural color like light brown. After having brown for a little while I want to do red. I can't do it now because if I do it will be like bright ass red and I don't want that.

Favorite YouTube artist

This week is on my favorite youtube makeup artist. I really enjoy watching Nikkie De Jager. I like to watch her because she always says her honest opinion and he is really funny. She was born in Wageningen, Netherlands and she born on March 2 1994, twenty-three years old. In 2011 she joined ColourFool Agency. I never heard of the agency so I looked it up and I found a website that consisted of hair and makeup artist. It talks about the people, what shows or shoots they has done and how to booked them. She started her channel in 2008. My favorite videos of hers is when she is when is in trying new products and she doesn’t really like them. She tries to make them work and her faces are just the best.

Next is Bretman Rock. I love to watch all his videos but when he does his makeup ones I laugh the whole time. He was born in the Philippines and then relocated to Hawaii. He is nineteen and his birthday is July 31,1998. I love who brutally honest and into himself he is. I wish I has his confident. He’s also only nineteen and he lives on his own that her pays for. He also gives his money to his family to help them out. He has a sister that he does videos with and I believe her name in Princess who in seventeen. She has a really cute daughter named Cleo. Even though he is more of an Instagram star I had to talk about him because he is talent and great to watch.

Then I watch James Charles sometimes, I can’t watch him all the time because he can get annoying. But he is really talented and was the first man cover girl, that’s pretty cool. He’s only eighteen and his birthday is may 23, 1999. A cool fun fact about him is that his dad and him convert his basement into a makeup studio. He often does more bold makeup looks, by that I mean he uses bright colors. He also does videos of his clients, which I enjoy because it switches things up. He also does videos with his family, friends, or fellow makeup artist. I like this because it’s not always about him. Bretman Rock also does this while Nikkie does have other people in her videos as often. Those are my top three people to watch, I don’t watch them all the time but I mostly watch them.  I watch there people too but only when I’m looking for something in particular.

My Favorite Products

For week one I will be covering my favorite products to use. Clinique hands down it's probably my favorite company to buy makeup from. Why? I started makeup at like 13 or 14 and at that time I had really bad acne. when I told my mom I want to start make up she took me to Ulta and the first thing I saw was Clinique. I started walking around and A lady who work there asked if I need  help. She sat me down and I told her my skin problems. Then she told me the best the foundation for acne and the best skin routine. I forget her name but she was really nice and she didn't tried to get me to buy the most expensive product but the products that work. Till this day I still use the foundation. I gave up on the skin routine because I don't get acne nearly as bad. This is what the foundation looks like. The price of the foundation is about $30 but it last me a long time but I don't use it everyday. I also use a bronzer there and I love it. It works amazingly and it's about $28.

Another product I like is the Neutrogena hydro boost water gel. I uses it every morning after I wash my face and before I put my makeup on. Its super refreshing and I feel like it wakes up your face it in morning. Also just a dot the size of your finger can cover your face and neck. It about $20 dollars but it last for about a month or two. You can find it cheap online.

NYX is also a brand I commonly use and love. Buy there lipstick and they're lighter and contouring palettes. I usually get their lipsticks because I like the colors and they're a pretty good price. I get the more pinky colors because they look the best on me and they have a better selection. There palette I get have many different contouring colors and one highlighter. The highlight is a light sliver color and I have light skin so it blends the best for me. This is the palette and it's around $25. The lipstick I get are from $5.00-$7.00.

For eye makeup I use the Naked palettes most of the time for eyeshadow. I like the Naked I have all 3 palettes. I like the colors for each one and they work for all kind of events. For eyelashes I use a light layer of Buxom and then a layer of covergirl. This 2 make my lashes look longer and fuller but not in a spider leg way .For eyebrows I using a essence pen because I just ran out of my Maybelline pen and I forgot which one it was. Then I put a Maybelline Brow Drama gel over it.  

I don't use beauty blenders, because they can carry bacteria that can cause acne, if you don't wash them regularly. I buy these beauty wedges that last for a day or 2 then I throw them out. One day on one side and the next day on the other side. They are only about $2.00 to $4.00 and they come in all different sizes and shapes.

Get to know me

Hi I'm Kelly and I'm writing a blog about different types of beauty products, artist, and companies. Like my favorite makeup products and companies. Also my experiences with dying my hair. I dyed my hair pink then purple and now I'm doing blonde. Hopefully soon it will be blue or red. I will be posting every week except for during Christmas and thanksgiving I might take a break. Every week will be a new topic like one week will be eye shadows and the next will be about wigs. I choose to write a blog of beauty products because I really enjoy learning and using makeup. I wear it almost everyday. I hope you enjoy my blog and learn a couple new things.
