When Personal Styling is more than picking out clothes!

*fair wairning, it's a long one*

In March, I had the honor of participating in a fashion show! Not just any fashion show! It was the annual charity fashion show for Full Figured Fierce's 6th Anniversary!

The theme was "Global Curvy Sisterhood" & I had no idea what I was doing!!🤯

I went to the casting call, and attended ONE, I repeat ONE, model training and development class. Then I moved, so...I wasn't able to attend practices like I wanted, but YouTube & Nicole Robinson were my lifelines!❤

There were:

✅hours/days of practice with streaming videos,

✅swollen ankles,

✅ace bandages,

✅walking around in every type of heel I owned,

✅wearing heels all day "just cause" so I could used to long periods in them,

✅looking like a clown in socks and heels,

✅tears of frustration,

✅worries about money,

✅fear of failure AND rejection,

✅I felt small and insignificant because I was inexperienced,

✅I told myself that I should drop out because I didn't know what I was doing and would ruin everything,

✅✅✅I QUESTIONED MY OWN SANITY! (etc., etc., etc.)

I seriously quit the show about 3 times, (probably more!!) wrote the coordinator a few messages and everything! (Just never could send them!)

Through all of that, although I was never quite able to sucessfully nail a turn, I learned I could do anything!!

❗Ms. Kerri Davis - Model Author for reminding me to always be teachable!!

❗Rick D Jones for showing me who I can be when I get out of my own way (there's a HUGE difference between pics from that Friday and pics from that Sunday)!!

❗Sebastian Hassell for knowing who I am, for keeping me accountable with the "Hey, have you practiced" questions, for pushing me to be uncomfortable, and for not letting me quit!!

❗Dani Mars for my "Urban Fierce" outfit!! I honestly could not have done this without her!! During one of the weeks I thought about quitting, I didn't know what to do or where to start. I was completely overwhelmed & frustrated. I had pulled out all the clothes in my closet that I thought would "work", spent the day crying because I didn't have money to go buy the perfect outfit & just could not wrap my mind around what "Urban Fierce" meant. Those who know me, know I tend to "suffer in silence" but I did something different! I reached out to Facebook & Dani was an angel!! She encouraged me, asked questions to get to know my style, gave some ideas, looked at pictures of pieces and shoes I already owned & put together this amazing look, all over FB messenger!! She even wrote a post about the experience on her blog! Everyone needs a personal stylist like her!

❗Dionne Reeves Grubbs for believing in me, reminding me that my faith is bigger than my fear. (& for her and Ms. Kerri teaching me what a "Runway Shoe" is!)

SN: Those shoes in the picture are BRAND NEW! The week before I was headed to the show, my 👣 & my original black 👠's had a falling out, & the shoes no longer fit!! (They fit now, of course!)
