I think one of the biggest problems with online LGBTQ activism is everything being label-based rather than experience-based when labels are just shorthand for certain broad types of experiences. 

A ton of arguments come down to which labels “let” you reclaim which slurs and what experiences they mean you have and “only X label experiences this kind of homophobia that Y label doesn’t” when life is just much more complicated than that. Experiences overlap in ways that can’t be simply compartmentalized, and oppressive structures, don’t typically care which word you call yourself if you’re already deviating from the cishet norm they expect.

So we’re just stuck fighting over like, whether misogyny against certain unaligned nonbinary people is “misdirected” and therefore somehow less important since they aren’t technically women instead of like, trying to figure out how we can organize and improve living conditions and address intersectional bigotry.

It’s not that none of those distinctions matter, but it makes up the bulk of current online discussion, all infighting.

Bregman so riled Carson with his accusations of hypocrisy, critiques of Fox’s conservative agenda, and attacks on Donald Trump that the TV host called him a “moron” and angrily told him: “Go fuck yourself.”

okay i just had a bad epiphany but corporate interest’s influence on the internet is going to become so much stronger now that generations that are internet naturalized have grown up and starting working as “social media consultants”. advertising is going to become so much more subtle, manipulate your behavior to a greater extent, and completely pervade every aspect of our lives the more we rely on the internet for everything from entertainment to social validation.
