warm cool study final painting 馃洂
My intention for the mood is something playful and childlike. I wanted to make the contrast of the left and right sides of the painting to be warm on the left side and warmish/cooler colors on the right.

Lil Hw Discussion Post
The differences between oil and acrylic painting are quite simple, almost contrasting each other. Acrylic paint dries very fast in a dry matte finish making it kinda difficult to correct. While oil paint takes months to dry and has a very glossy finish and is very easy to mix. With this being said acrylic paint can鈥檛 be put over oil paint BUUUT, oil paint can be put over acrylic paint.
Pt 2.
This piece made by Fernando Laposse named Totomoxtle, was made in 2017. I feel like due to the nature of the materials just being corn husks and glue on an mdf board I think this could last maybe maximum a decade. Corn husks are already naturally designed to withstand the elements. So it being dried already prolongs its shelf life as it鈥檚 preventing molding from moisture!

How to stretch a canvas
(I don鈥檛 think I was in the room when the board was shown that we had to take pictures of the canvas making because I was in the 2nd room working sooo I tried to be as detailed as possible in these steps.)
Building your stretcher bars: Build your stretcher bar frames and make sure you have a straight edge and 90 degree angle.
Next you鈥檙e going to take your staple gun and staple the corners of the stretcher bars together. Make sure you鈥檙e holding the sides together tightly so that there are no gaps between your wood pieces.
Grab your 10oz canvas and line in up in the center to there is a three finger wide gap on all 4 sides.
Gently folding over ONE side of the canvas, staple it down as this is going to be the side you start on.
After your first staple you want to flush the canvas against the stapled stretcher bar and pull the canvas outwards in a diagonal on each side of the middle staple to pull the canvas taut.
Then you鈥檙e going to do the exact same thing to all the other sides, but pulling the canvas taut and making sure it鈥檚 as tight as possible so your finished canvas isn鈥檛 sinking in the middle.
Next you鈥檙e going to start tightening the edges and stapling down, but not too close to the edge because we need space for a later finishing step.
After all the sides of the canvas are tightened and stapled we are now going to we鈥檙e going to run our fingers along the side of the canvas so that be can begin to fold in the corners of the canvas.
Once you have a good grip on your corner make bunny ears with the canvas and fold in so it鈥檚 laying at a 90 degree angle against the backing without any canvas showing from the front.
Finally you鈥檙e going to staple the folded corner piece 3 times just to make sure it鈥檚 nice and flat against the stretcher bars.
Repeat this step for the last three corners.
Finally before you paint anything make sure you prep your canvas with a primer, in this case we鈥檙e going to be using gesso.
Once the gesso is all dried you now have your own stretched and prepped canvas.
