@heliosxargent || Inside Gleam’s home, midday
"It might work better if you announce the news, or it at least comes from you." Gleam suggested, pouring herself a glass of wine, and settling back into her seat at the dining room table. It was an unusual scene, as the table was typically reserved for appearances rather than actual use. This place felt less like a home and more like a prison cell, albeit one tastefully decorated.
"You have a special knack for connecting with the crowd, a talent I quite obviously lack," She admitted with a slight scoff, her impatience evident in her reluctance to entertain what she considered foolish questions. They found themselves in the midst of a rebellion, and yet here they were, on the verge of presenting a staged romance to divert the Capitol's attention off Gleam especially, if only temporarily anyways.

[Caesar] My dear, it must of been difficult seeing twenty of your peers be found guilty of treason. Did those from District 1 surprise you, Gleam?
"They all surprised me, to be honest." Gleam replied after a moment of contemplation. Her gaze shifted from Caesar to the camera before settling back on the man. She mustered a smile, conveying her desire to be there and her unwavering loyalty to the Capitol, as least as far as they knew. "Nevertheless," She continued, "It's disheartening to witness guilty verdicts for those from my home district, especially since the Capitol has constantly shown generosity to District one."

"If I were obsessed with you, my mood wouldn't turn sour the moment I saw your face." She retorted coldly; her arms crossed tightly over her chest. Her irritation stemmed from what seemed to be deliberate tardiness, and she was convinced he had orchestrated that purposefully. The back alleys offered a convenient escape from the prying eyes of the capitol citizens, allowing her to somewhat blend into the public without being recognized in an instant. Everyone loved a victor from District 1, and she happened to be a crowd favorite. Although, Gleam couldn't quite fathom why she was so adored. Fame and fortune had never been welcoming companions to the blonde; instead, she met them with a defensive demeanor and a sharp tongue.
Her heels echoed on the cobblestones as she gracefully positioned herself to face him. "You know, this is the third time this week you've shown up when I've called, like a well-behaved dog - Maybe it's you who's obsessed with me." Gleam quipped with a sly smirk, her hands slipping into her pea coat pockets. Her stylist had begged her not to leave, especially with a morning meeting looming on her schedule and the meticulous work they had put into her appearance. Gleam had been styled to perfection for a series of interviews and photoshoots that day. Despite her disinterest in complying the capitol's demands, she realized that no compliance could be a matter of life or death.
"Will you be watching my interview tomorrow? The blonde arched her eyebrows as she posed the question, her words measured and deliberate. She was acutely aware that they were never truly alone, especially within the confines of the Capitol's walls.

Sometimes it was easy to forget that a war was raging on outside the city. The closer one got to the city center, the easier it was to leave thoughts of the rebellion behind as people rushed past him on the sidewalks as they fought through the crowds to get to work and children laughing on their way to school. It made him feel so normal and nothing like the treasonous vigilante he had become.
Kyan Maddox had found himself in something of a predicament. Hailing from District 1, he should be nothing but thankful to have been given the privilege of moving to the Capitol at the age of 21, and even more so after being brought on as a Gamemaker. At one point it would have been more than he ever could have wished for. Every dream of his coming true. But now?
The man cut through the crowd, leading with his shoulder as he muttered something about the sheer inconvenience of it all under his breath. He hated the crowds. Hated the laughter. Hated it all. This better be damn important.
Kyan rounded the corner onto a less populated side street, and then another. The rumble of the crowd of commuters fading as he entered the abandoned alley. Morning rain had made the uneven cobblestones slick beneath his feet and the air around him muggy, only contributing to his sour mood. Did she really think she could keep pulling him away from his work like this? He knew she had to lay low, but did she not realize the trouble that these back-alley hangouts caused him?
Of course she didn't. Gleam had no idea of the position he was in, and he certainly wasn't going to change that any time soon. He just had to play along.
"Third time this week," Kyan said as he approached the woman on the other end of the alley. He and Gleam had been friends for decades — or as close to it as they could be, given their apparent mutual hatred for one another. It was nice. "I'm starting to think you're obsessed with me."

Gleam was born the youngest and old daughter of the Chryses family, following only three years behind her older brother, Jasper. They were taught to view themselves as lucky, being born into The Capitol’s favorite district. How could they not be? Gleam never had to want for anything, and neither did her brother. So, following her brother’s footsteps – Gleam enrolled into the training academy. It was there she was taught how to wield a sword and how to kill for sport. In her eyes, The Hunger Games had been about honor – not a fight to the death. All the young girl ever wanted was to bring Fame and Fortune to her district like so many others had before her. Despite being eligible in age to become a tribute, her first year she had not been chosen. It only pushed her to train harder. At the age of sixteen she had volunteered and became the female tribute for District One. In the brief moments she had to say goodbye to her parents and brother, they could not stop gushing over how proud they were of her. It never clicked that in those few minutes, it could have been the last time she ever saw them. The only thing in Gleams mind was winning.
The arena was an island with a large volcano sitting the middle. It didn’t take long for Gleam to establish dominance among the career pack. Her battle skills were shown instantly throughout Panem, and it didn’t take long for her to be favored amongst the citizens of the capitol. Although she was skilled in sword fighting her intelligence is what helped her claim victory. Her first kill had been the boy from district five, and while she trained – The look in his eyes as she plunged the sword into his chest were burned into the front of her mind – The blue eyes were the only thing she saw when she closed her eyes. During the finale, the volcano erupted claiming the lives of the female tribute from two, and the boy from three – both scorched in a pyroclastic flow. That left Gleam and the boy from two – The game makers forcing them to fight in the aftermath. What lasted for only five minutes or so, felt like years to Gleam – and while she had ultimately been crowned victor, she didn’t come out unscathed. His knives gashed open her cheek, and stabbed into her left arm before she was able to deal out the final blow with her sword. Gleam was paraded around the capitol as their shiniest new trophy, and it didn’t take long for Snow to recognize that the blonde was no doubt a popular victor. When the president attempted to use her as entertainment amongst captiol citizens, her sharp tongue and bitter attitude landed her into trouble. Her parents were burned alive inside their home in District one as punishment for her acting out. Jasper had been allowed to survive so that he could deliver the news of their parents’ death to Gleam personally. Over the years Gleam has only grown more bitter and her resentment for the capitol has grown – She might have escaped the games with her life, but she would never be allowed to escape the grasps of the capitol – as a victor she had been doomed. Now she has joined the rebellion in hopes to take down the capitol and Snow.
