Genuine question: How tf do you make an Undertale AU? Like ik nothing anymore is purely original, but I genuinely cant think of anything slightly original.

Do you have any tips for drawing Sanses I really want to find my own style so I can make my own AU please I'm begging you.

if you've got favorite artists that you really want to take inspiration from, studying their art styles and trying to copy specific parts you like about them helps !

do you like the shape of their sans skulls? how round the cheeks are? or how they're close to the original sprite? maybe you're looking for a pointier look like how some people draw horrortale sans?

what about how they draw the eyesockets? how they make the eyelights look? faint glow, or no glow?

u can also look at how the sans expresses. who's style of classic permanent grin do you like? eyebrows, or bonebrows?

what of these characteristics from different artists' styles for sanses make ur brain do the ":)!", to go "yeah, i want this, i wanna draw [this part] like this." ?

what brush u use can also be a factor, so stick with one or two at a time and experiment ! and practice lots !

hope this helps in any way ! and of course, you can't perfect it right away, so please keep going ! you will find that art style 😤

"oh so it's like canon?" "why won't toby fox make them canon" the important thing you gotta know is toby fox never points to two characters and goes "they dated/they're dating" ever. he usually avoids questions about how he writes queer rep but it seems to be the overall attitude that if he needs to explicitly state the relationship between two characters, then he has failed as a writer to properly convey their dynamic with extra implications and all.

like... legit the only times a thing is blatantly obviously canon is though the characters, through what the CHARACTERS want to say about the other. like alphys and undyne are implied to be into each other but toby fox never said they're a couple, the game did, when alphys confessed her love and they got together at the very end of the story. and it seems everyone else takes this approach, whether the relationship is queer or not. sans "befriending" toriel and the rest is left up to interpretation. suselle with noelle being so flustered and into susie but never needing to go "I'm in love with her" cause we know cause it's just so well written. the implications of asgore giving rudy who's in an unhappy marriage boquets of flowers (berdly even comments on this if you land him in the hospital dismissing it as a "bro" thing to poke fun at how homoeroticism is dismissed as platonic friendship between men). tenna calling spamton his "old partner" (not business partner! JUST PARTNER. A REALLY LOADED WORD). and a bunch more scattered moments here and there for other things like krerdly and krusie and kriselle and so on.

because he's just a writer who takes the approach that if he needs to tell you, he hasn't done a good enough job showing you, and I just really appreciate that. it's really refreshing even 10 years later to throw yourself into writing such deep relationships that still trust readers to figure it out and know what's going on and leave wiggle room for interpretation and yet are so obvious in what they are, so blatantly and without shame or doubt, that everyone realizes what it is. and it's pretty admirable cause it makes these characters more real. nobody really goes around casually saying they're in love with someone, it's a build up, or it might be more complicated, or so on, but they show it in every other way that toby fox manages to capture with careful words.

HOW DO YOU SHADE IN PROCREATE????

Uhhhh I actually dont know how to answer this properly lol. Its hard to explain.

I shade on the same layer as the flat colors. And i just do a hatching like way of shading, where I just draw obvious lines to make it have texture (it was to originally mimic crayon strokes)

And the colors I use are either a darker version of the color im using, or i use a variation of pinks, reds, purples, or blues to shade. But it really depends on the color of what im drawing and the environment they are in :/

Like for green I use darker green and blues

For red and orange, I use dark pinks and purples

For purples I shade with blues

Uhhh sorry this is not a great way to explain ^^'. Hope it makes some form of sense lol

You're right, Aro/Aces need more rep, so here's Ink supporting some Aro sepc and Ace spec identities ^^

Flags and definitions in order are

Aromantic: Feels little to no romantic attraction

Acesexual: Feels little to no sexual attraction

Aroace: Feels little to no romance and sexual attraction

Lithromantic: someone who can experience romantic attraction but does not want it to be reciprocated or loses attraction when it is

Demisexual: Only feel sexual attraction after forming a close emotional bond with someone

Cupioromantic: Someone doesn't feel romantic attraction but desires to be in a romantic relationship

Abrosexual: Sexuality is changing or fluid (sexual fluidity)

Aroflux: Fluctuating attraction/ shifting between various aro-sepc identities

Fraysexual: Sexual attraction to strangers /attraction fades after forming a stronger bond with someone

These are just brief definitions, but I still highly encourage doing your own research on these if you are interested in learning and understanding them more. If i made any mistakes please lmk and I'll fix it ^^

Okay sooooo

Since I don't draw much characters besides. Ink and the twins, here's the. Base!!!! I usually base Ink's eyes on like. A half-moon almost?? He looks kind of smiley w the eyes only because the flat shape under lowkey looks similar to the way the eye usually wrinkles while you smile

Nm and Dream's eyes are more similar to a. Tilted triangle??? They also have a defined Eyelid line thingy to me, so that's important...!

I usually make the black of the eye part of the lineart. Then I alpha lock the layer of the lineart just to make the "shine" of the socket.

From there I paint the eyelight a color, and I usually use the same color of the eye to make an eyeliner-looking thing. (Its supposed to resemble a shine, sorta!! So its important for it to be colorful)

From there the. Details. I make sure the shadow of the eyelight sorta follows the shine of the socket or else it could look off.

If the shine of the socket is blue, then the shadow for the eyelight is reddish and viceversa...!

Now that you know the basics, you can now try to observe how I usually do it in my art...!!!!
