chimney being the reason maddie calls buck over in the first place because he comes home from the basketball ball game looking like he’s two seconds away from bashing his head against a wall and maddie is like ???? and chimney looks at her and his hair is a mess and the look is his eyes is crazy in a i can’t take this bullshit anymore sort of way and he goes “you need to call your brother over.” and maddie’s like “since when do you call him my brother. he’s just buck.” and chimney laughs a little manically and goes “nope. i want as many degrees of separation as i can from that emotionally constipated idiot. ‘at least when i date someone i actually date them’ my ass. i think he’s gonna try to stealth tattoo ‘property of evan buckley’ on eddie’s forehead, maddie.” and maddie just nods solemnly and pulls out her phone and goes “i understand. start the coffee.”

One thing that will never fail to baffle me are the Maddie haters especially those who try to make her out to be a bad sister

Like this woman was parentified and forced to be the only parent and source of love to her brother all while dealing with the trauma of losing her other brother to cancer AND being forced to pretend he didn’t exist AND she’s also never resented buck or misplaced blame on him for the aforementioned parentification her parents forced on her

THEN she sees buck struggling and eventhough the abuse with Doug had already been going on at that point she gives him the jeep and a presumably not insubstantial amount of money to get him away from Pennsylvania, now one thing I can tell you about this is that commonly people in abusive or dangerous situations have a fallout plan, a go bag, an escape hatch, a safety net, whatever metaphor you wanna use. This is usually a sum of money they can temporarily hide from their abusers or a form of communication or transport, Maddie saw buck struggling and she sacrificed her safety net for him and I don’t think that’s anywhere near talked about enough. Like that’s a HUGE sacrifice and i don’t think people realise that.

Like I genuinely can’t grasp it like why??

Is she perfect? No of course not nobody is and neither is any character on this show but is she a good sister? Without a shadow of a doubt
