( gift ) - from mary :]

Hélène had never felt prouder of herself. When it came to giving gifts to others for the holiday season , she would often resort to spending her money away to her heart's content but this year was different. This special someone deserved something more than a little trinket she had plucked off a shelf. She deserved more!
The woman had taken the effort to make the gift by herself && it was embarrassing how long it took her to finish it up but at least it was completed. Wrapping it up was the easiest task , thankfully , and now to present it to dear princess Mary.
With only them occupying the dining room , Hélène produced the gift from a vacant chair where she had it sat throughout dinner, presenting it to the princess with a grin. "Merry Christmas , ma belle. I made you a little something."

Despite the calmness upon her features , the abrupt stop mid-speech told Hélène enough of what the other knew about her. The scandals && the gossips. Of course , the young lady’s godmother was their source of news && she was Pierre’s dear old friend. He would tell her anything. Though , it did little to bother her. Waving a hand at the other , she let out a dry dangerous laugh. “ I must say , your judgement is incredibly different. It surprises me. You needn’t hide your truth from me , ma chere. I hope you understand that pretending can cause more harm than good. I will bear you no ill will. “
strange of a thought it was, hélène kuragina both intrigued and frightened her. she was everything sonya wasn’t and could never even imagine to be --- charming, worldly, and beautiful all at once. although hélène’s image was a little tainted because of how she appeared to treat her husband, sonya couldn’t deny that there was still something so alluring about her. when in her presence, one couldn’t help but want to be liked by the princess. ❝ did you enjoy yourself last night with my cousin ? natasha came home looking tired but so elated. i’m not certain she’s told me just about everything yet about the ball. ❞

Hélène let out a childish giggle , far too amused with the scene unfolding before her. Oh , how adorable love was when it blossomed freshly && it was quite the sight to behold from the songbird beside her. The woman had known the girl to be rather secretive with her feelings && she had never seen the her let her guard down like this. “ He flirted with you , I see~ “ she hummed , repeating what Eurydice had told her && she rested her head on her hands , elbows propped up on the counter top so that she could gaze at the other ; a twinkle of mischief in her eyes. She glanced over at the bartender again. “ I happen to know some things about him , however , I don’t wish to spoil anything for you. Why don’t you talk to him? You could get the answers yourself. “
@glitteringpearls : [ boop ] for your muse to boop my muse on the nose .
The gesture is one that takes the songbird by surprise, not quite being used to being touched on her face or a touch that was so light, playful, kind. It was embarrassing but she had flinched just a bit from the touch initially, now laughing a little bit at herself at the gentle poke, shaking her head. “ What was that? “ She laughed a little, confusion filling her face as she looked up at the woman. Did she have something she needed to say? Was her gaze locked on the bartender? She didn’t know, but she hoped everything was alright, looking up at the other as she awaited an answer.

“ Isn’t there so much that we wish we didn’t do , my dear? I’m afraid you aren’t that special. No one in this world is a saint , even children . Did you honestly think life was just going to be smooth? You’re bound crash into some wall. && this is why you have to be ready in life. “

“Are you bleeding?”
“Don’t move, you’re bleeding.”
“Is that blood?”
“Whose blood is that?”
“That’s a lot of blood.”
“Do you know how to get bloodstains out?”
“Why do you know how to get bloodstains out?”
“Damn, I got blood on my shirt.”
“Don’t move, you’re losing blood!”
“I won’t let you bleed out!”
“You have blood on your face.”
“I swear to god, if you get blood on me…”

Romantic Royalty Starters
“I want to unlace your corset slowly.”
“I couldn’t take my eyes off you from across the ball room.”
“Not any jewel in the entire kingdom could compare to you.”
“I cannot marry that man. He smells of rank meat!”
“I cannot marry that woman. Her voice causes dogs to howl!”
“I need you in my life. I am incomplete without you.”
“We could retire to my suite. No one would know.”
“May I suggest a walk in the garden? The roses are in bloom.”
“I will slay anything that dares to harm you, my love.”
“There are secret passages. Come! We haven’t a moment to spare.”
“I will marry you. I shall make it happen. Somehow.”
“How long would it take to remove all those layers?”
“My crown is heavy. It feels lighter when you’re around.”
“If you go to war we will not be together…”
“Nothing matters if we are not allowed to be in each other’s arms.”
“Our parents are fools.”
“I do not care if our nations are at war.”
“It drives me mad that no one will leave us alone!”
“When we are not together, I am pained to my very soul.”
“We must pretend not to feel anything. They cannot know about us.”
“Forgive me…”
“We shall be happy together, forever.”
“I know that fairy tales cannot come true but I feel that one may have.”
“You are so magnificent on the dance floor.”
“You sparkle even without the jewelry.”
“I have never seen a more eloquent creature.”
“This maybe the wine talking, but you are glorious.”
“I’ll never look at another.”
“I’m blushing…”
“I will fight for you.”

The countess was never one for lavish titles && names. One would say she was nearly too casual for society but what did she care? It was not as if she was committing a major crime. “ Please , my dear , call me Hélène. I prefer to reserve the titles for the public, “ she insisted as she clasped her hands in front of her. “ I pray you heard all things good. I have a range of reputations , depending on who you heard of me from. If you heard about me from your godmother , I fear I have no chance to redeem myself. “
glitteringpearls :

Sofya Alexandrovna Rostova. Or Sonya. She had heard that name perhaps once or twice from her cousin who had spoken so fondly of her at the ball. She had not expected her to be so enchanting , quite like dear Natasha had been. Hélène would say that they were almost similar , yet , they exuded incredibly different energies. “ I did enjoy myself , thank you for asking , ma chere. “ She could not help but scrutinize the other. “ I’m sure dear Natasha will find the time to tell you all that happened. Such a shame you didn’t attend it. I’ll be sure to invite you the next time. “ Boldly , the countess took a step forward , a smile upon her lips. “ You’re Sonya , am I right? Natasha spoke very fondly of you. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you formally. “
sonya couldn’t say that she was offended when she heard that the princess’ invite didn’t include her, because truthfully, she wasn’t. she quite enjoyed a night in and they’d been to so many events already as of late; she supposed it would have been nice to be remembered, though. ❝ yes, sonya, ❞ she says with a slight dip of her head, not minding how hélène chose to address her with the diminutive name right away. ❝ it’s a pleasure to finally meet you as well, princess hélène. we’ve heard so much about you. ❞

“ Let them talk. Why do you need to listen to them? “ With her own history with gossip , Hélène knew her way around it. She knew how people spoke && prodded at the business of others but truly there was no point in listening to them. There was nothing they could do. Not in this society. It was simply a waste of breath && time. Reaching a hand out , she lifted Laurey’s head gently by her chin , eyes locked in a stern gaze. “ Think about how important this is for you , ma chere. Don’t think of anything or anyone else. What is it that you want? “
glitteringpearls:: HELENE
[ @takealook-fall : there was nothing left to do. laurey? ]

“ My dear , there’s always , && I mean always , an alternative to everything. You just didn’t search long && hard enough, “ Hélène told the other sternly. “ But I’m afraid it’s too late for that since the deed’s already done. “ Perhaps it was inadvisable for Hélène to be the one offering advice for she never listened to herself not on one occasion but nearly every single one of them. Sealing her lips , she simply shook her head && clasped her hands together. “ Well , never mind that anymore. You’ve gotten out of that mess but now we’ve a bigger one to get out of. “
but was there an alternate to the past? laurey was not so sure but she was not sure but it was hard to be here, even if it was done. there was no going back. there was only moving forward, but that was terrifying too. the words that the other spoke made her shoulders tense up, her eyes falling down to the ground as she tried her best to calm down, think on what to say. “ they are always talking. “ maybe it’s wrong and just as harmful to talk about their gossip, but it was something that she wouldn’t bring up with her husband. “ i almost want to run away. leave everything in this life behind. “ except curly. was that so wrong of her?

❄️️Winter Starters❄️️
“Don’t track snow through the house!”
“It’s so cold I can’t feel my face.”
“I think my fingers are frostbitten.”
“How are you out here without a coat? You’ll catch your death.”
“Look at all the snow.”
“Why isn’t there any snow? It’s supposed to be winter.”
“Can you turn the heat up?”
“Can you throw another log on the fire?”
“Do you want something hot to drink?
“…I think we’re snowed in…”
“It’s coming down pretty hard out there.”
“Hopefully the temperature doesn’t drop again.”
“All this rain is going to make the streets a solid sheet of ice if the temperature gets an lower.”
“The snow melts for one day and everything gets covered in mud.”
“I pity whoever is stuck out there.”
“How am I supposed to get home when the snow is up passed my knees?”
“I hate the cold!”
“You complain about the cold, but once summer comes you’ll complain about the heat.”
“I know it’s cold out, but do you really need to make the house a sauna?”
“Go shovel the walk, please.”
“We never get this much snow…”
“All we ever get during winter is rain and mud.”

“ Why , look at you. You’re a natural, “ Hélène hummed as she guided the other through the dance , flowing with the direction of the crowd. “ I doubt you’d be embarrassing yourself with those skills. I’m impressed~ “ The song was nothing too dynamic. It was more relaxed , yet graceful.
“Care to dance?” - for Melisande
( at the royal ball )
“I’m not much of a dancer,” Melisande responded, glancing at around the room. She had been standing in the corner for a reason, but given the situation, an invitation seemed inevitable.

Hélène scoffed. “ Must you be so touchy? I can assure you it’s not a big request. I need a companion for tomorrow’s soiree. Is that so much to ask? “
❝ whatever you’re going to ask , the answer is no. ❞
