Maria lifted one arm, trembling, weak, as if the very air weighed her down. Her skin looked like it would bruise at a glance, like if he touched her, he might hurt her without meaning to. Her hand reached toward him, fingers outstretched. Something twisted inside Shadow. Not quite pain. Not quite rage. Resentment of knowing her sickness was why he existed. That he was crafted to save her.

And until now, no one had ever looked at him like he was anything more than that. No one had offered him warmth.

There certainly was a time when Shadow was just a tiny, trusting baby-hedgehog, hanging onto big sister Maria’s every word, and her playful mischief got him into all sorts of trouble. Siblings life. One’s the bad influence, but they both end up getting yelled at.

In a somewhat related note to a recent post, in the collection of film era Trollhunters art he uploaded Fabien Ouvrard happens to have one that might look a bit familiar... Tad concerning there appears to only be one troll with Jim mind though it is probably good a confirmation as we're going to get that it was indeed that version of the Darklands..
