WIP Wednesday

I'm switching it up this week and posting a bit from my wip This Last Thread Still Binds

There's another impatient knock at the door, more insistent than the last couple, just as Mobius opens the door. He isn't exactly sure who he expected to be knocking on his door in the middle of the night, perhaps some minute men or one of the judges. Instead, he finds Loki with their hand still raised to knock on his door, in TVA issued pajamas looking nervous and disheveled.

"I-" Loki says, looking over Mobius, "I didn't want to wake you-"

"Obviously you did," Mobius points out.

"I just... can I come in?"

Loki is already pressed in close to the doorway so Mobius sidesteps to let them in. They rush into Mobius' apartment, but stop before they get very far, looking around at what is admittedly a pretty bare apartment. There is nothing on the walls and nothing that would indicate who lives in the apartment. Apart from the clutter of loose paper and files and the collections of dishes pulled up on the counter and coffee table, there isn't much to indicate that anyone lives in the apartment.

"What did you need?" Mobius asks. He stifles a yawn.

"May I sleep here tonight?" Loki asks after taking a breath. Their hands are fidgeting in front of them and they don't look at Mobius, glancing around the apartment instead.

Seven Sentence Sunday

A bit more from the previously untitled fic, This Thread Still Binds.

More hours pass. Mobius finishes reading through the files he has with him and still Loki sleeps. He should get up and find some more files or other work to do but he can't find it in him to leave Loki. He promised to watch over the god and he would keep his promise, he just wasn't expecting to be there for so long. Several times he considers waking Loki, but decides against it every time. Eventually, Loki stirs. Mobius finished working on the files hours ago and had set them aside. When he first notices Loki waking up he's playing a puzzle game on his Tempad. He's almost done the level but he puts it away anyway.

This chapter has taken me so long that you've practically read the whole thing via snippets by now 😭

The new TVA leaves a lot more room for leisure, most of which Mobius does not utilise. He does, however, use a slice of that extra time to make himself a coffee before he heads out. He sets the percolator on the stovetop then goes to clear off the coffee table by the couch. 

One thing about having two people inhabiting the same space is that the mesh of cleanliness habits can go in the wrong direction. While both of them are fairly tidy in various other sectors, files tend to pile up. Literally, in this case, because Mobius definitely did not leave that stack of folders taking up the entire left side of the table. 

The right side was probably his fault though.
