StraitNZ's M/V Connemara seen arriving into Te Whanganui-a-Tara.
Launched in 2006 as Borja, she was chartered to Stena Line, of Italy, and subsequently to Baleària, of Spain.
In 2010, she was sailed to Rotterdam and completed her contract with Baleària. She began working for AVE Lines and was renamed Baltic Amber.
This contract was short-lived as in 2011, she was chartered to LD Lines for work between Marseille and Tunis. Before moving to work between Saint Nazaire and Gijón. She was renamed Norman Asturias.
Interestingly enough, she replaced Stena Feronia on the run from Tangier Med to Algeciras. That veseel would later depart for Aotearoa and become StraitNZ's Strait Feronia.
In 2018, after a long contract with LD Lines, she was chartered to Brittany Ferries for work between the British Isles and Spain. It was here that she gained her current name, Connemara.
In late 2022, she was sold to StraitNZ and sailed to Te Whanganui-a-Tara; arriving in late January 2023.
Unfortunately, the situation on the Cook Strait/Te Moana-o-Raukawa has become dire of late, and all the active ferries have encountered serious issues. Connemara experienced a power failure in September 2024, hit the wharf at Picton in October, and just days later, experienced another power failure.
With thanks to @tau9 <3 for a truly amazing holiday. I couldn't have asked for a better travelling companion.

An interesting one from the Bombay Truck Show.
Although the star of the show was arguably the Diamond T 614D, there was considerable interest levelled at the Mercer Transport Museum's Diamond T 921 6x4.
New to ??? in 195x, it was purchased by Tranz Carr Heavy Haulage from the estate of Neil Otway (of Otway's fame) and given a minor refurb.
Its history is entirely unknown, but given the rarity of Diamond T and Diamond REO products here*, it is possible that this is an Australian import. Unfortunately its history may never be revealed but it is super cool to have two later Diamond Ts in preservation. With a possible third, assuming that it was sold to a preservationist, 634 also surviving.
*Other than a few smaller 4x2 flatdecks, few Diamond T products operated here. Furthermore only(?) the Union Steam Ship Company (P&O) operated Diamond REO products, having a sole 6x6(?) artic.
With thanks to @shortfineel for joining me.

In the early 1970s, Mercedes-Benz introduced the O 302 and O 317 (generally written as O302 and O317 in contemporary NZ orthography) to Aotearoa.
Hawkes Bay Motor Company (Mt. Cook Group) purchased the largest fleet of O 302s and had them built with air-conditioned NZMB coach bodies.
Pictured here is Pahiatua Passenger Services (HBMC) №31, which was registered initially to Pahiatua before becoming an outright member of the Hawkes Bay fleet.
It was transferred to Mt. Cook in early 1971, a mere month after delivery and served until 1998.
It was sold to Kapiti Charter Services Ltd alongside most of the O 302 fleet* and further sold(?) to MacDhui Contracting, also of Parapaumu. It operated the Kāpiti Commuter service for a year.
It was then briefly sold to Mana Coach Service, but was converted to movan by the end of 1999. It now lives in a yard with a former WCT Volvo B10M/NZMB-HESS Ansaldo trolleybus.
*№10 ended up with Ranui Buses of Gisborne, and №46 ended up with Beck's of Waiuku. The latter was scrapped whilst the former's rego lapsed.
With thanks to @tau9<3 for a wonderful holiday

As it is before the City Rail Link is opened in 2026, which will see two new stations open in the city's heart, as well as the merging of West and East lines into one conjoined service.
