Hidden gem
I was looking for a specific photo and found this gem that I have never seen before! From my then-girlfriend-now-wifeās and I trip to Sonoma back in 2010, this gem was snapped with the now ancient iPhone 3G. At first I thought it was a photo of a painting, but GPS data pinpointed the winery this road led to (J Rickards Winery) and the painting-like colors are from a phone sensor that pales inā¦

Reflections
This is from a visit to the Daytona National Reptiles Breeders Expo back in 2022, where the girls joined me on a quick journey to greet the sun as it rose over the Atlantic Ocean. Because the girls are not early risers we had to move quick which means they went in their pajamas. As they do every year. The early bird may get the worm, but the kids in pjās get chocolate milk.

Walkabout: Haile Village
Most of my photography these days is functional and not necessarily inspired, so last week when my daughter was at her dance class it was dreary and rainy and felt like a good time to bring the camera. A walkabout around the now ubiquitous commercial / residential area during a light rain is just what the doctor ordered. Not too rainy to prevent taking pictures but just light enough to not getā¦

Front row seats
I canāt claim this photo, it was taken by our excellent guide Aaron at Amelia Island Kayak Excursions of the family watching the sunset on the Amelia River. It looks like we are all sitting together, front row to the greatest show on earth. Simply pricelessā¤ļø

Blending right in!
Art often imitates life, but not sure thatās the case here. Just happened to catch this zebra walking in front of the truck painted in its likeness and blending in quite well. If I was a lion Iād buy it!

Some days..
At the barn this sweet St. Bernard was being washed after playing in the dirt. He was a great sport, staying tied up while meticulously washed and left to air dry but I could tell he wasnāt overly enthused with the endeavor. I think we can all sympathize; some days you just gotta do what you gotta do..

Cedar Key in monochrome
One of the photos from the archives from a family day trip to Cedar Key, about an hour and change west of Gainesville on the west coast of Florida. It was a quick trip so we didnāt explore much but got to try the famous clam chowder and I was able to grab this photo!

2023
So youāve seen more of me today than the rest of 2023, and thatās certainly not be design. I processed a bunch of photos back in April to get me, well, inspired to start shooting and posting again but even with pictures pre-loaded and ready to go my general malaise toward photography stymied the desire too even that. Hopefully this recent spark will continue and it wonāt be so long until I postā¦

Greener pastures
Probably should have posted this in the Spring when it was taken and not on the gray precipice of Winter, but with the huge gap in posts and my reluctance to post anytime is a good time for a nice photo. Anyways its always nice to think of warmer days and greener pastures especially as the cold creeps in.

In/Out conversations
This photos was taken many years ago with my old Leica DLux 4, the camera that was my gateway to Leica and simply a fun camera to shoot. I still own this little monster and pull it out now and again to make sure she still fires up, and she does and hopefully will for a long time to come. The photo? Yes, this was taken at a local art studio in Ft. Lauderdale where a friendās girlfriend had anā¦

Never alone
In a world so big, itās easy to feel lost and alone. Mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, friends, pets ā no matter how far away, are there to help us feel not so alone. In the photo above, two sisters pause to contemplate a much larger and eternal ocean together. Whether they know it or not now, they will always have each other in a world that seems bigger than they are.

The topless Jeep
The Jeep Wrangler is a beloved icon with a cult following. Who doesnāt think of riding by the beach top down, doors off, sun shining in your face and a salty breeze to awaken the soul? I think the person who bought this Jeep Grand Cherokee must have had buyerās remorse and instead of admitting a poor life choice, instead decided to hack off the top and doors of this SUV. Not sure what happensā¦

The Pony Express
Lately Iāve been trying to find my spark for photography again and relearning how to āseeā. Watching my daughter during her horse lesson yesterday my brain tickled me into action; the area I was sitting, the sun, the beautiful blue sky, and of course my daughter on our favorite pony, all called out to me. All I had was my iPhone, which is sadly the case these days, but it worked. The old sayingā¦

Donāt forget to stop and smell the rain lily
Itās truly and sadly been so long since Iāve been inspired enough to stop and photograph flowers, bugs, plants, or any flora or fauna. My mind just has not been in the place to see these amazing things, but a chance encounter yesterday put me by a patch of Treatās rainlily that Iāve never seen before. At first I thought how pretty they were and drove on, but something in my brain arrested theā¦

When your dumpster fire hits the road
Itās gotta be a bad day when you head out to find your calm in nature and this happens. Conversely it could be a great day to see the old jalopy burn to the ground and start fresh, itās all a matter of perspective I guess. Either way Iām glad we are not out west where the fire risk is critical and the Ocala National Forest only served as the setting for this scene.
