I am Princess Luna Goddess of Darkness, Shadow, the Stars and the Moon, and Night in all its glory. You would do well to remember that. Disillusioned at a young age of the purity of darkness, Princess Luna has been banished for her betrayal and brief, tyrannous rule over her people. She has escaped her prison of the moon but has yet to cause any harm so she is left to her own devices. She intends to retain her freedom, but desires to spread a proper understanding of Darkness, and punish those who defile it. Mostly closed blog now, focusing on a handful of long-term partners. “That’s not what I meant and you *know* it!” She spat, but her anger was quickly fading, twisting with guilt and concern and that little thrill that they were having this argument at all. It wasn’t that she doubted him, but his clear distress about all this just reaffirmed his care for her -- so long as she hadn’t fucked it up.
“You really thought me gone?” She said, tone soft, shoulders slumping, all aggression and posturing bleeding out of her form. “You truly searched for me?”

Loki stared at her, and for a few moments was completely speechless. He should have known that she would meet his anger with her own, but still he felt shocked by the audacity of her words.
“Well, I must offer my most sincere apologies if I have inconvenienced you. As soon as I met you I should have immediately abandoned any and all sense of ambition I ever had to cater to your every whim and desire!” He exclaimed, every word laced with sarcasm. “I trust the fact that the past 4 months have been devoted to little other than my search for you should be enough to mitigate the immense displeasure you must have felt.”

“Oh darling,” Luna chuckled, though her tone was dripping with sarcasm. “I am certainly used to being exceedingly popular.” She leaned an elbow on the table -- damn decorum -- and leaned her jaw delicately against her knuckles, watching him curiously. “Poisonous plants? How fascinating.” Her tone now was drastically different than previously, true interest filling it. “I wonder if any can be found across our regions? Or perhaps combined to create something different. Surely we could cross-breed the most interesting, submit others to alchemical tests...” Her gaze went distant a moment, thinking about doing just what she spoke, before she blinked back. “Folklore? Of what kind?”
How About ‘I Don’t’
goddessofshadows:
Luna snorted, more inelegant than her usual disdainful scoff thanks to her fourth cup of wine. “Respect of the people,” she repeated, rolling her eyes. “Duty to your kingdom. Stars, that’s pathetic. Celestia didn’t even bother to try and convince me those of Equestrian would love or respect me for this – that has long passed. I’m sure they’re just happy I’m gone.” She took another large sip of wine.
Her expression brightened, however, at the mention of rare books. For the first time that evening, she looked truly excited and interested, if surprised, and the keen observer would be able to make out a dusting of pink over her dark cheeks. “Rare volumes? On what subject?” She held out her goblet without caring to look away from her new husband as the servant began refilling his, then waved her free hand. “Oh yes; keen, accomplished, seasoned – horses are far better than people, so the bulk of my time has been spent with them or with tomes. But tell me more about these books.”
“My people still have to endure my presence in their lands.” Loki smiled thinly, an air of bitterness in his expression. “At the very least, I’m sure they’re pleased that I have been put to some use after all this time. The only respect I will gain is respect for the fact that I haven’t been a complete waste of resources through all these years. I hope you are looking forward to being equally as popular as I am.” He made a grand gesture with his free hand to punctuate the statement.
“The particular volumes I have requested are on the subject of botany regarding some more exotic and poisonous species of plant I have an interest in.” He eyed her carefully over his goblet to see how she would react to this information. He was half hoping to alarm her with talk of poisons- after all, it would have alarmed almost everyone he spoke to on a regular basis, quite apart from someone he had just met. “I am also hoping to procure a book on folklore.” He added as an afterthought.

Thor: Do you ever regret sharing your magic with him? Frigga: No. You and your father cast such large shadows, I had hoped that by sharing my gifts with Loki, he could find some sun for himself.

I’m very accepting with my age. It’s like notches on your belt: experience, wisdom, and a different kind of beauty. There comes a day when you’ve become comfortable in your skin.

It takes a lot of courage to face up to things you can’t do because we feed ourselves so much denial.

//i so wish there had been some interaction between Luna and Tempest. Luna knows exactly what Tempest has and is going through, and is living proof you can come out the other side. It would’ve been fascinating. May not have worked, exactly, but still.
