@frostforger:  There's a curious chuff from behind Elsa that almost ruffles her hair. "It isn't winter, and we're nowhere near the mountains, yet you smell so strongly of glaciers and winter air. Why?"

     “ oh- ”  a soft start of surprise at the sudden, albeit quiet, noise, elsa blinks and turns slowly only to release a small chuckle at the sight of hirra. it wasn’t laughter at her expense, of course, rather at how IMMEDIATELY everything clicked upon seeing that it was her back there.

     “ well... ”  drawn to a pause by the question, the once-queen needed a moment to contemplate how to proceed. this was always the HARD PART of meeting new people, one could never be certain of the right way to take that first step regarding her powers. in THIS instance, it’s nice that a question has been posed, a tie already made between herself and ice, but still... difficult to navigate. she has never been able to find the right words, to figure out the best way to construct any explanation.

     “ in all honesty, that’s... well, it’s easier to SHOW you. ”  rather than try to elaborate on her particular, unique tie to nature verbally, it’s far simpler to DEMONSTRATE. at least then, further questions can be posed which are far easier to answer than trying to explain it all with no reference point. drawing a breath, elsa steadies herself and moves her hands gracefully through the air in front of her chest. glimmers of magic, like snow, TRACE the movements until a crystal-like snowflake about the size of her palm is formed. it’s a very simplistic show of her magic, a minor show of the power she’s capable of, but ALSO the least likely to be overwhelming to those not used to seeing such things.

  at such a sweet offer, she can’t help but to SMILE. while she doesn’t mind skating on her own at all, there’s no denying that it’s more fun with others and, moreover, how can she say NO to such a kind gesture? seemingly the moment he’d noticed she was here on her own, the boy had offered her the company of his group.

     “ oh, why thank you, i’d like that very much. ”  her eyes bright, elsa smiles down at him gratefully.  “ so long as i wouldn’t be intruding, of course. i’d hate to make anyone uncomfortable on such a FUN DAY. ”

glance cast to the small crowd he appeared to be part of, all appearing to be around the same age as him, her expression grows a touch softer. watching them all chatter amongst themselves while they put their skates on, excitement and cheer glittering in their eyes, it’s an all-around pleasant image.

     “ everyone looks so EAGER to get on the ice. do you all go skating often? ”

The charr’s long furred tail swept across the ground as she considered the other’s statement (a statement she had to run through her head a time or two: humans spoke at a range that wasn’t easy for her kind to hear).

“I must disagree,” she finally said. “There’s a time for the former, and a time for the latter, yes, and there’s wisdom in knowing which to apply. But acting without thinking can just as quickly leave you regretting the decision to act at all.”

     “ that’s... true, ”  agreement came slowly, thoughtfully. she realized, admittedly LATE, that her wording wasn’t the best - it was TOO SIMPLY PUT to get her full idea across. with a brief pause, elsa considered her own statement as well as the other’s, putting a bit more care into her response.

     “ you’re right, of course. i didn’t mean to imply that acting without thought can’t end in regret. ”  it very much COULD, she knew that from her own experiences. however, she had a great deal MORE experiences wherein she thought and never acted, and missed out on so much of her life because of it.  “ what i DID mean is that... more often than not, at least for me, i find less regret when i do at least try to do something toward my goal. thinking about it and not so much as even trying to change anything... you can lose a lot more that way. ”

Frozen II’s creative team traveled to Norway, Finland and Iceland for design ideas, and studied everything from haute couture runway shows and 1940s fashion to traditional Norwegian satchels and photos of “anything that feels crystalline,” Brittney Lee, visual development artist, added. “We try to be as thorough with detail as possible, down to the direction of the embroidery thread.”

“Elsa always has been floor-length everything, so with her iconic capes and long trains, her shape line is a very large, elegant triangle,” Lee said. “When we lose that length, it starts to not feel like her anymore.”
