Hello! I’m a baby Hellenic Polytheist and this blog will be where I put the posts that I find helpful, funny, or meaningful. I believe in a healthy balance between reverence and friendship with my deities.

dear experienced pagans:
I know it can get annoying to see beginners asking the same questions over and over, but please consider this. most religious people are born into their religion, with parents and a community to bring their questions to, when they're still children. the vast majority of pagans do not have that luxury. it is our responsibility, as a community, to show compassion and understanding, and to answer their questions, or point them in the direction of someone who can. to give them sources and materials and encourage them to study on their own. each person doesn't have to respond to the same question, but if you see a post that's gone unanswered for a few hours or a few days, maybe consider helping that person instead of mocking them. if you want to build a stronger community, it HAS to start with building each other up and welcoming each other. we can't form any kind of community when newcomers are ridiculed for their questions.

Hearken, You Gods holding the helm of holy Wisdom, Who, having kindled an upward-leading fire, draw to the immortals human souls, Who leave the dark hole behind, purified by the secret initiations of the Hymns. Hearken, Great Saviors, and grant me from very divine books pure light, Scattering the mist, so that I know well an Immortal God from a man; That a daemon, doing cruel things, may not hold me forever submerged in the streams of forgetfulness, while I am far away from the Blessed Ones, That a chilling Penalty may not bind my soul with the fetters of life, which, fallen into the waves of cold becoming, does not want to wander all too long. But, O Gods, leaders towards bright-shining wisdom, Hearken and reveal to me, while hurrying to the upward leading track, the secret rites and initiations of the holy words.
Hymn to All the Gods, by Proclus

A historical prayer to Hestia
I’ve been reading Greek Hymns: The Texts in Translation by William Furleely and Jan Bremer and came across a very lovely prayer to Hestia, written by one Aristonoos from Corinth during the 4th century BCE:
Holy Queen of Sanctity, we hymn you, Hestia, whose abiding realm is Olympus and the middle point of earth and the Delphic laurel tree! You dance around Apollo’s towering temple rejoicing both in the tripod’s mantic voices and when Apollo sounds the seven strings of his golden phorminx and, with you, sings the praises of the feasting gods. We salute you, daughter of Kronos and Rhea, who alone brings firelight to the sacred altars of the gods; Hestia, reward our prayer, grant wealth obtained in honesty; then we shall always dance around your glistening throne.

I love the casual substitution of "gods" instead of "god" in colloquial sayings. "oh my gods" "gods, my feet hurt" etc etc. like yeah deconstruct the societal standard of monotheism with me. let's party

What is this bow-looking hairstyle on the Apollo Belvedere? Is there some sort of historical context or did they just think “this fucks” and move on?

I'm not a "I wanna move out of my house because I hate my parents" kinda girl.
I'm more of a "I wanna move out of my house so I can have a big ass altar to Lady Athena" kinda girl.

Prayer of Praise to Apollon 🦢🏹🕯️✧˖°.
« ✦ —⋆——― ꒰ঌ·✦·໒꒱ ———⋆— ✦ »« ✦ —⋆——― ꒰ঌ·✦·໒꒱ ———⋆— ✦ »
Dearest son of Gentle Leto and Mighty Zeus,
He who tends to the wound under my Band-Aid and yet wounds men with the swift piercing of an arrow drawn from your silver bow.
The mellow hums of your lyre collide with the clamorous stomps of merry dance.
God, who communicates most directly whilst shooting from afar, I praise you.
For I am crowned by your laurel in my pride, assisted by the strike of your arrow in my words, and inspired by your presence in my worship.
I thank you, Lord Apollon, for my adoration and gratitude for you knows no bounds.
Oh glorious god, as always and for forever, I praise and honor you.
Praise be Radiant Apollon!
