Journal 10
When the author discusses transfer and learning they are trying to tell us how important it is that we do not simply train people to do certain tasks in life, but educate them on many things in have that knowledge transfer over to work. The author say that transfer is the ability to extend knowledge from context context. I believe that learning is transferred. They go hand-in-hand most of the time. Learning knowledge that is transferable is very common. In fact it is hard to learn knowledge that is not transferable. There is transfer in my final assignment because I am transferring all of my reflected thoughts throughout this whole writing process and transferring it onto paper. This will then be transferred into the mind of others who read it. Bergmann and Zepernick confused me. I did not like the style of their article. Their work only resembled a research study to me and which made it hard for me to grasp the complete concept.

Journal 9
Mcluhan defines medium as the message. I found this on page 9 in the first paragraph. “The content of medium is always another medium”, Says Mcluhan. Mcluhan also states that, “…the personal and social consequences of any medium-that is, of any extension of ourselves-result from the new scale that is introduced into our affairs by each extension of ourselves, or by any new technology. “ I need to know more of what Mculhan means with the light bulb/electric light. I really liked where he was going and I wish I had a little bit more to ponder about.
Medium describes a genre. The audience of the medium and genre are gaining knowledge. The audience is also a part of the rhetorical situation. The audience is trying to be persuaded of something though the genre and medium.

Assignment 3 discussion
My group members think that I should do a gif, video campaign, and a flyer. I wanted to do those 3 genres so that makes me happy. My other 3 media are network, screen, and print. The audience that I am targeting is my classmates and my professors.

Journal 8
1.       My initial thoughts on the video were neutral. It started to go so fast that I couldn’t grasp what they were talking about. I did find it interesting that so many songs are copied. Not only the beat but also the exact lyrics.
2.       I think this is partly true. I think that most creations are based off of previous ideas. Also that these little ideas are grouped together to create on big idea. My perspective on reality most definitely changed. I thought it was funny that we get upset when people copy us but we copy others all the time and don’t think it’s bad. I thought this was especially interesting in the apple case with Steve Jobs. This perspective didn’t help make sense of the projects featured on Shipka’s website for me. I have no idea what those projects mean. I’ve read the description again and again and I still cannot get an idea on what they are.
3.       One of the movies that was not a remix was Hancock starring Will Smith. I think it should be in the category of Sci-fi. Then, specifically narrowed down to superhero.
4.       I think that this theory is feasible. I think that social evolution can be done by people being less selfish. The video said those acts fell into place in the late 1700’s for the betterment of everybody. Everyone is so selfish they want the product all to themselves.
5.       The video and the website can help me begin on my composition in three genres by picking up ideas from other people and combining them with my own. I will not completely take others ideas but incorporate details that could help my progression.

Genre and Medium Exploration for Assignment 3
The four most appealing genres that we have engaged in class are video, websites, and blogs. I liked these because they are more user friendly than paper products. I like that everything is always attainable at any time. I also enjoyed this because it allowed me to zoom in, reread, and post questions to the class if I needed. I like network and screen the most. I also liked paper. I liked the network and screen because I felt like I could manipulate the work. For example, zoom in, watch again, or control find for more detailed searches. I liked paper media because it is conventional and what most school work is given on. These genres and media will be used to complete assignment 3 by placing assignment two onto them. By efficiently presenting my research, I will be able to fully allow my audience to understand what my work is about.

Reflection on Assignment 2
As I compare this writing experience with old ones I recognize many differences. I enjoyed writing about PA’s. I like writing about things that I can choose. I hate when there is a very concise prompt. Finding GOOD sources for my work was very difficult. I wanted them to be perfect and provide the exact information I was looking for. I overcame this by looking on many different databases. I believe this strategy was successful because I did find exactly what I was looking for.
If I could change anything I would’ve gotten help from a librarian. They are very knowledgeable about databases and finding sources. If I had another week, I would elongate what I meant to elaborate. I would also find more sources to back up what I as saying. My favorite key term was reflection. It was very involved in my research and it was brought up in many articles. Physicians and PA’s reflect every day in their work and that key term can relate to almost everything they do.

Cuttin up
Cuttin’ Up
My experience was relatively hard because my partner, Morgan, could not figure out which order was best for my paper. I discussed with my partner the order or my paper and the details that could help it become more structured.  I learned that I make smaller paragraphs than my partner. I am adding a few sentences to the beginning to help organize what the whole paper is about. I will better introduce it. This activity has taught me that it very subjective the way a paper is set up.

I really like your description of knowledge. I like that you are ready for your interviews. Goodluck. I can also concur with the interview portion. I thought my research was going to be solely based off of research but I discovered that most meaningful knowledge I could obtain was from the interview. In your interview did you find similar hunches?
Journal #7: Knowledge
Knowledge to me is the extent of which you can describe something, whether its a topic or an object. Knowledge is something you have to learn, you can’t have knowledge on a subject without studying this subject and coming to terms on what it truly is. In Brown and Duguid’s words, “Knowledge appears harder to detach than information”. Knowledge is harder to pick up and harder to transfer that information. Brown and Duguid’s thinks that “knowledge is something we digest rather than merely hold.” Collaboration is crucial to the collaboration process because everyone has a “Hunch” on ideas, and these hunches can only become true knowledge if they are pared with other hunches, this paring of hunches creates the big picture that takes years to create. Once two people collaborate who have similar “hunches”, knowledge is created. Johnson’s discussion helped me understand how knowledge was created and how one can’t just become knowledgable over night. The Knowledge-making process is one that takes years and years to acquire, and then many more years to advance in the knowledge at hand. Since i have read this, i have understood that the interview process of this assignment is a big part of it. I will be more aware of the questions i will be asking and hopefully we will have some of the same views on my questions so we can combine ideas and get the overall knowledge on the topic. This whole time i was more concerned about the research i was going to be doing on the computer, but now i know that the most knowledgable information is going to come from the interview i conduct.

Do you agree with Brown and Duguid?
What is your research on? I appreciate that you fully analyze all of the information. How does knowledge relate back to your topic on writing?
Journal #7
In my opinion, knowledge means all the information that an individual absorbs through learning in school and life experiences. People learn from their mistakes, from teachers in the school system, and everyday while participating in their daily activities. Therefore, knowledge is all the new information that they grasp from these activities. Brown and Duguid define knowledge in 3 distinct ways. Firstly, they state in order for there to be knowledge, there must be a knower. Secondly, it is harder to detach knowledge than information. To reiterate on this, the authors are trying to say that obtaining information is easy, but actually learning from this information and grasping the concepts is why it is harder. Lastly, “knowledge seems to require more by way of assimilation.”
Collaboration is a crucial component of the collaboration process because verbal communication and interaction is another great way to learn. Many individuals around the world are filled with a vast amount of knowledge and wisdom; just listening to someone propagate can provide someone with more information than they could even imagine. Johnson’s discussion of “good ideas” and “innovation” was an immense amount of help for me, especially for my research paper. They explained that good ideas take years to be accepted. Also, that People sharing one idea to another is one of the best ways to create new thoughts and ideas for someone, which they in turn build on and create new ideas.
In terms of my research project, I will now go into an even greater depth to fully understand the knowledge I am taking in while reading my different articles. I learned that in order for me to write a research paper to the prime of my abilities it is going to take me time as well. I am devoting multiple hours solely to fully analyzing all of the information I have obtained so that when I start my research paper I have a great understanding of the material I am going to present.
