The door creaked open, a nervous boy standing behind it.

"Come in. What's the problem? You look a wreck."

The boy steps inside closing the door behind him. He fiddles with the hem of his shirt before speaking up, "Darry, I need some advice about Soda."

Darry's expression turns into one of mild concern and curiosity. He gestures to the couch and sits down. "Of course, is something wrong?"

Steve sits next to Darry, chewing his lip and staring at his hands in his lap. "I.... I think I have a crush on Soda."

Silence fell over the two for a moment. A very uncomfortable silence and a thick tension. "Well, how do you feel about that? Do you want to tell Soda?"

"I do but-" Steve breaks off for a moment to take a deep breath and collect himself- "I just don't want to ruin our friendship either."

Darry begins to chuckle and leans in and whispers in Steve's ear, "Don't tell Soda I told you this but he's been dying for you to tell him exactly that."

A comforting silence. One that was filled with company. They all sat, scattered about the living as they watched the late night horror movie. The only thing breaking the silence was screams from the tv, the crunching of popcorn, and the crinkling on candy bar wrapper.

Sharp breaths were drawn during the final moments of the film, from everyone except for one. Almost lifeless he sat, staring at his hands in between his knees. The dread of nervousness and anxiety wasn’t felt over the tension of the slasher.

A deep breath and he began, “Hey- uh- guys…”

Soda sat up, and loudly replied as to bring others to attention, “Hey, Pony, what’s up? You look a nervous wreck.”

Ponyboy swallowed hard as he glanced away. “Guys, I think I am uh maybe uhmm…”

Soda put his hand on Pony’s shoulder. “C’mon Pony, you’re okay with us.”

His lips forced a small twinge of a smile, appreciative of the support but still that couldn’t quell his fears. “Oh god, let me just say it. I’m nonbinary.”

Darry was the first to speak, “God, Pony, you had me all worked up making my think you’d done something wrong and gotten yourself into some trouble.”

Pony boy just stared in shock, “That’s it? None of you are mad?”

Dallas piped up, “Well, it’s your damn business. You didn’t have to tell us so why should we get all worked up?”

A tear rolled down Pony’s face as a smile broke out, the relief of acceptance was uncontainable.

Dallas can speak some german because after his father abandoned him and left him to stay with his immigrant grandfather he wasnt good at english so dallas had to learn german to communicate. Each night they often would help eachother study their respective languages, and though he'll never admit it dallas treasured these moments because it felt like he had a decent father figure

ANYWAY i wanna know your thoughts on the whole bob/cherry/dallas/PONYBOY crush situation. like what do you mean "i hope i never see dallas again cuz ill fall in love" ??? i understand she sees bob in dal so it establishes that she's attracted to losers, but it didn't seem necessary LMAO idk perhaps it was se trying to demonstrate how similar the greasers and socs are but i digress 🌚

movie dallas makes sense cuz at least he's hot, but book dallas has nothing going for him. he's ugly and a bitch while bob is hot and a bitch so please tell me why and how

Okay this isnt a new chapter but an explanation of the plot because it's very important to me. I have a few chapter written from awhile back but I dont plan on posting them anytime soon. Keep in mind this is a bare bones explanation and I had way more details thought out. And if I get any anons saying I shouldnt write about rape or jail to that I say maybe if we had more open discussion about the topics thered be less stigma and more education, censoring people about sensitive topics buried it so we dont think about it and therefore let it continue

A lot

Two bit, when he was 15, got sent to jail as well

The two bunked together

Dallas decided to not be an asshole and show two the ropes

Bc he hadnt been in jail before (mostly bc he sweet talked every cop in the county)

One night dallas had a nightmare

And two was obviously in their room bc it was lights out

Two bit and dallas stayed up the rest of the night, crying, chatting, doing dumb shit

This is how they established an emotional bond

They become close and dallas opens up to two bit about his mental health issues

Eventually the topic of why they were in their popped up

Two bit told why he was last

His sister kassie who was 9 was raped by someone in their neighborhood and two bit beat the loving shit out of him

Sent him to the hospital (slay, kill that man)

Dallas now is thinking about rape and sa

And thinks about what happened to him in his childhood involving that

This for me hasnt been explicitly thought out but I have a vague idea but I'd dont wanna tell y'all till I'm 100% sure so I dont say brutal shit for nothing

Anyways

The two become close

And upon release dallas takes two bit to meet the gang and happy ever after kinda
