The truth, unfortunate or fortunate as it may be, is that even when it doesn't feel that way, you do matter, to people, to myself. And I may not know who you are in name or personal detail, but I do know the side of you that you were willing to share with me, and I care about you and your well-being. I can only hope that before anything else, you get to experience the joy of how much of a positive impact you have on this world, even if it feels insignificant in the grand scheme of things. I mean, even in our few interactions you've had an impact on my life. That means something. It means something to me, certainly.

I hope, as I do sometimes, that when you look off into the distance, when you can feel the warmth of the sun on your skin and breathe in the crisp air of the outside, that it really hits you with that strange melancholy, as it does me, that makes you pause for a moment and wonder that, perhaps, for moments like that, despite everything, life can be worth living. Because, in the end, it's always these small things that matter the most.
