“Is that what you call it?” She teased as she started washing the leaves. Meadow nodded and tapped her stomach. “Not all that hungry.” A partial lie. Ever since she found out about Nate, unbeknownst to him, she’d been insecure about herself. Eating healthier, exercising more. She hoped it’d help keep her husband. She jumped before looking at him shocked. “Fitz, I’m gonna kill you!”
“You would never.” He said smirking as he turned back to their kitchen counter cracking an egg into the bowl. Taking a second egg he turned back to his wife, “You know what I heard,” he said as he slowly walked up to her, “egg yolk is extremely good for your hair.” He finished, cracking an egg on the top of her head.

She shook her head with a gentle smile. “Maybe you need a nanny.” Meadow teased and sipped her drink. She turned her nose up at the image her husband was painting. “Sweetheart, you won’t even have teeth with the amount of sugar you eat.” She cocked a brow, looking at the mix. “You’re welcome to have them, but… I’ll pass.” Meadow muttered, opening the fridge and getting out salad ingredients. “I’m fine with chicken salad or something. You enjoy your pancakes, baby.”
“I’m living life on the edge.” He said with a laugh as he watched her open up the fridge and pull out a more healthy meal. “You sure you don’t want any pancakes?” He asked sticking his hand in the pancake mix and flinging it at her, “It looks great on you, really.”

there was no lack of thinking space by the lake, something the athlete always took advantage of in the time he spent at the ‘ beloved ’ sunset shores. dramatic parents and children alike often made it difficult for him to enjoy the time he spent here, but he savoured the rare moments he got to himself. in such a fast-paced life, there was rarely time to reflect. so he sat down by his parents-owned dock — leaning back on his hands and closing his eyes as sympathy for the devil played in his ear.
Nate needed to leave the house, now that his wife was finally back home he couldn’t look at her without feeling guilty. He loved her, and he knew that she loved him, but how could he do the things he did knowing that? It was beginning to eat at him the more that he sat in their beloved summer home. Walking down the path near the lake he came across a familiar stranger, “Hey Caiden!” Fitz said as he figured he’d take a break and sit next to the boy. “Plotting world domination?”

“What? Okay, maybe a bit of embarrassment, but nothing more.”
“I feel like it’s kind of in my job description to embarrass you anyway.”

“I know. Even though I’m still pretty young, I’m not as energetic as my kids and I feel like if I were that energetic I could totally get more work done every day.”
“I like to pretend I’m young sometimes, maybe do something adventurous, it’s all fun and games until I throw my back out.”

“I think it’s the energy because I eat a lot of vegetables and I’m not that strong.”
“Oh, thank god, I hate vegetables. Oh what I’d give to be their age again.”

Meadow tucked her hair behind her ear. “I love you too.” She sighed and slipped off her blazer jacket. Smoothing down her dress, she smiled at him. “Perfect, thanks.” Meadow shoved her things on the nearby chair before following. “Moonshine cereal? What a healthy man you’ve turned out to be.” She sipped at her drink as she slipped off her heels. “So, what do you want to eat?”
Nate couldn’t help but smile at his wife, “Well that’s what happens when you’re not here. I start eating garbage.” He said with a laugh taking out a few ingredients that he would need for dinner. “Pretty soon I’m just going to be a garbage can with teeth.” Nate bent down to turn on the stove. “Now I know I said dinner, but I’ve been getting really good with breakfast foods..” He gave her a smile as he took the pancake mix of the shelf, “Pancakes for breakfast?”

“That must be an odd experience.” He laughed at his uncle and took the ear buds out of his ears.
“Oh it is.” Nate said looking over at the boy, “But I’m an odd man,” he mused as he patted Winter on the back. “So, how’s life in the Knight household been?”

“Yes,” Nathan nodded as he looked at his nephew, “In fact, sometimes I feel like I can taste sounds.” He said as he gave him a weird look.
“Do you ever just listen to music and get into the music, then you feel lost in the beat?” The boy questioned the person sitting next to him.
