She was bothered, to realize despite all he had done and the man the captain was, he still was the closest they all had to family. She doubted him, resisted him, wanted to get back at him for the way he had treated Eren, and yet she couldn’t but acknowledge his judgement, his decision to bring them all together, everyone close to Eren, all those who were ready to sacrifice their lives for him. She had come to respect him eventually, despite his absurd way of looking after them. They wouldn’t be alive if it weren’t for him.

When she asked him, part of her was fooling around— an effect he had on her, a playful attitude, and a closeness they shared that came naturally to her. Yet, she didn't expect such an honest reaction. Damn it. What a ridiculously nice thing to say. ❝ Is that so? ❞ A look of boredom she’d wear, staring at her shoes as if her attention was elsewhere. He took a proper look,, hands stuffed deep into his jacket pockets. He blinks, brain short circuited. She wasn't the type to fish for compliments, and honestly? She looked great. His usual boisterous bravado is chilled out a little before he answers, his tone a bit more casual "You look.. good. Like, really good." he perks up a little more, "I mean," more expressive in his movements, "you always look good, but tonight? you'reeee uh... kinda killin' it."
