What do you think your custody au quaritch thinks about Jeanniebug's weaving the web spider and quaritch respectively?
How would he feel about cyren myadd's quaritch or spider? Like his thoughts and opinions on them if they were to ever meet?
I see Cyren has replied to this - so I'm looking forward to reading the answer - esp if you've sent it to all 3 of us!
So I hadn't read Weaving the web until recently - I am actually still reading it as we speak! There's a chance I may not know something super relevant, but at the point I'm at, there's three different Spider personalities. My plan is to finish it soon.
I do actually really like the idea of some kind of Spider multiverse collab, though I don't know if its actually practical or possible.
I think Custody-Quaritch is going to gravitate towards collecting Spiders at the first sign of trouble from any of the Quaritches. My impression so far on WTW-Quaritch is that he's trying to do his best by Spider (minus letting the interrogator thing happen twice - as far as he knew - before stopping it), so I don't think Custody-Q would have a huge issue with him if he met mid-fic. He might later on if he found out about the interrogations. In contrast he'd have an issue a mile wide with BITTW-Quaritch from the get-go. The Spiders he would intellectually understand aren't his Spider, but he'd probably view them as an extension of his Spider and therefore under his remit and he'd struggle to leave them be if he couldn't build a good relationship with his counterpart.
In terms of the Spider personalities.. in some ways it doesn't matter to Custody-Q, his kid is his kid and he can try to fix things once he has him safe.
But he would be alarmed for sure by the multiple personalities on WTW-Spider and would want him in therapy asap, getting the best medical care. He'd be very precaution-heavy with 'Miles' but he'd try to foster a bond with him and adapt his approach regardless. 'Spider' and 'MJ' I think would be much easier for Custody-Q to manage and depending on context I think he'd really struggle with wanting 'Spider' to front and ultimately win out as the main personality because he's the original, and getting a bit of a catch up feel with MJ on the childhood moments he missed with his own Spider. But ultimately he'd know the MJ part wasn't healthy, so I do think he'd try to get 'Spider' back wholly.
BITTW Spider is more impulsive than Custody Spider and he probably yearns even more for love than Custody Spider does, so I think Custody-Quaritch would take to him very easily, especially if there's no 'did you kill my mom' thing hanging between them! <3

Not really much of an update, but I rewrote Dar and Salim's smut scene in Chapter 9 of Twisted Love
(I think I might go back and rewrite some of the earlier chapters just because I'm not happy with the way they came out, but I also might not lmao, who knows)

Incubus AU
It's long so it's under the cut, but I fleshed out Salim's back story!
It's in three sections; His wife finding out he's an incubus, how he fed regularly, and the smallest section is when his wife left Zain behind
Heads up for Salim giving a bj, lol
(Edit: For some reason, a small portion of writing with Salim's boss just didn't get added? Should be fixed now)
--
"[Habibi, I'm home!]" Salim calls out as he returns home from the markets, closing the door behind himself before sliding off his shoes and heading deeper into their home. He carries the bags with him into the kitchen, smiling softly as he spots his wife with her back turned to him as she waits for her freshly boiled cup of tea to cool off.
He puts down the groceries on the kitchen counter, stepping up behind Naiema and wrapping his arms around her waist, kissing her check before resting his head on her shoulder and just watching the steam pouring off the tea with her.
"[What did the doctor say?]" He asks softly, reaching out to take one of her hands and gently bringing it up to his lips, kissing the back of her knuckles.
Naiema usually joins Salim on their trips to the local markets, she's the one who often picks out the food to buy when Salim seems to be clueless about what goes together and what doesn't- but she hadn't been feeling well lately, vomiting or coming close to every morning. Salim had all but forced her to go to the doctors, his wife having a bad habit of writing off all her sicknesses as no big deal.
Naiema turns around in Salim's arms, cupping his face between her palms and smiling with such a fondness Salim has seen only when he'd proposed and on their wedding day. She leans in for a quick kiss, a sparkle in her eye Salim can't compare to anything else, and with such joy in her voice she announces it, "[I'm pregnant.]"
Salim's eyes widen, so damn happy his eyes grow watery as he pulls his wife into a deep kiss and tight squeeze- they've been trying for years with no luck, for so long they'd both grown hopeless that a baby would ever happen. And here they are now, with news so good it's hard to believe.
When Salim finally pulls away from their tight embrace, hands still on his wife's shoulders, he can't help the light feeling in his chest. He feels blessed in a way that should be impossible given what he is.
"[How far along are you?]"
"[Five weeks.]" Naiema beams, moving a hand over her still flat stomach, both imagining the near future in which it will grow with their baby.
The tea on the counter behind them is completely forgotten as the two of them make their way into the living room, sitting down on cushions and enthusiastically chatting out future plans- Salim has so many ideas about the baby's room, he looks forward to painting the walls and building the furniture.
They discuss names for both baby girls and boys, though they're both throwing a lot more girl names out there- and when Naiema suggests that if their baby is a boy they incorporate Salim's name somehow, well Salim can't help but get a little emotional.
For just a split moment, Salim can't hide what he is. Eyes glowing bright in their excitement, his tail wagging, his claws and horns reappearing as for just one second as he falters in keeping himself under control- the features he's hidden away every day for years, now coming to light.
And just like that, the closest Salim's ever been to heaven, has him crashing back down to the hell he'd came from.
...
Salim can barely process what's happening, his brain running a million miles a second, watching as he wife switches between sobs and screams, their little house torn apart with his belongings all scattered around, broken ceramic and glass littering the floors.
Just under an hour ago he'd been told the best news of his life, that Naiema was pregnant. They were ecstatic as they immediately plotted details of the baby's room, came up with names, unable to stop interrupting each other with excited little kisses and tight squeezes.
It had been a spur of the moment confession, hardly even a confession at all- he'd just been so excited that for a blinding moment, Salim had forgotten to hide what he really was. The horns, the eyes, the tail- he'd known he'd messed up when his wife's face went from the happiest Salim's ever seen to the most afraid.
Now he's following her around the messy home, desperate to explain himself, trying to make her understand he isn't what she thinks he is, that he is nothing like demons you hear about in stories, how he behaves as close to a human as he can.
Salim barely ducks in time as a plate flies overhead and smashes into the wall behind him, another thrown quickly after crashing into a framed mirror which falls and shatters on the floor- that mirror had been one of the first things he and his wife had ever bought for their new home.
"[Naiema, please-!]" Salim pleads, trying to take a step towards his wife, flinching back when the next object thrown at him from their cabinets breaks across his shoulder. Its shards split Salim's skin, and while it would be nothing for Salim's flesh to mend together on its own, Salim makes the choice to allow the injury to bleed, to not freak his wife out further.
"[I don't want to hear it!]" Naiema screams, her anger so potent Salim can taste it. They'd been together for so long, been trying for a child for years... Salim thought she could see past this, he hadn't thought a confession would end up like this- he never planned on confessing in the first place.
"[You're a monster! A demon!]" She sneers at him, frantically trying to gather up her stuff, continuing to throw various items at Salim whenever he gets within three or four meters of her. "[I will not be manipulated by you any longer!]"
Her words sting worse than any holy presence ever has, burns worse than their wedding day when Salim had stood for hours on holy ground and had holy words read before him.
Salim never manipulated her, never used any demonic power on or against her. Yes, Salim did admittedly get fed whenever they had sex, whenever he'd go down on her, or whenever his wife experienced arousal, but that was not something he could control and never the reason why they were intimate. Salim loves Naiema, worships her, and would do anything for her. To hear her accuse him of anything otherwise, Salim can hardly remain standing, his knees feel weak.
There's no convincing Naiema, and eventually her things are packed, the house is quiet, and she's gone.
He collapses to the floor once the door is slammed behind her, something on the wall falling to the floor from the force of it closing, Salim doesn't bother looking. The house is already a mess, what's one more broken thing on the floor.
For days Salim doesn't leave the broken home, using demonic abilities he hasn't touched in years to get off from work with no repercussions. He expects to be returned and banished to hell, for his wife to call the temples, mosques, anything to get rid of him- but when weeks pass and they never come, eventually Salim has to keep on living.
He cleans his home, returns to work, and when he has no choice, he sleeps with the people he must to keep himself fed- it's a terrible feeling, even though his wife is gone he feels like he's cheating on her, betraying her somehow, and with strangers it's much harder to hold himself back from taking their souls or them mistakenly forfeiting them.
The people of his town treat him like an outsider once Naiema is officially gone, they whisper about him, rumours circulate.
Some say that he cheated on her, others that he abused her, or that she ran away with another man because Salim was a bad provider- whatever it is each individual believes, Salim loses friends, gets side-eyed by neighbours he used to share and chat with, and is given the cold shoulder by the general public.
The guilt doesn't go away right away when he's served with divorce papers, but it dwindles, until it slowly but surely fades away into the background and Salim moves on as best he can.
About two months after Naiema left, Salim is called into the office of his boss, the cocky man leaning back in his chair, feet kicked up on his desk as Salim knocks and walks in.
His boss grins at him with a too wide smile, a glint in his eye Salim knows well from what he is. As he beckons Salim in, Salim thinks he knows what will happen, that he will be propositioned for sex- and while he's not entirely wrong, it doesn't go down anywhere close to how he'd expected it too.
His boss doesn't speak until Salim's reached his desk, acting nonchalant as he toys with a pen between his fingers, "[You know I never would have guessed someone like you would turn out to be an incubus.]" he begins, and while Salim's heart drops for a moment, he's relieved when a moment later his boss looks to him with red tinged eyes, revealing his own demonic status- the fiery hue of a pride demon, Salim honestly should have guessed after years of working under this man.
"[I mean, an incubus getting married-]" He barks a laugh, shaking his head like Salim's life story is the funniest thing he's ever heard. "[It's absurd!]"
Salim swallows, "[With all due respect, did you only call me in here to let me know you know what I am?]"
"[In a way.]" His boss hums, looking back to the pen he twirls in his hand, his grin only growing impossibly wider, "[I figured, if I have an incubus in my payroll, I may as well get full use out of it. So...]" He trails, reaching forward on his desk and turning over a picture of a beautiful woman- Salim does not know her but he knows what his boss is asking, "[Shapeshift into her and bend over my desk.]"
Salim considers himself lucky despite it all, now that his boss knows- while demonic lust and cum do not taste as good and is nowhere near as filling, with how often his boss requests him to his office or to a random meeting place after hours, Salim is able to depend on him for food, no longer having to worry about devouring a human soul. He really can't complain, even when he knows his boss is feeding off him as well, his boss getting to feel powerful, prideful and superior for dominating another demon regularly.
After eight months of his life continuing without Naiema there, he expects this to be the new normal for him.
Until late one night, his landline rings- the ring almost foreign to him now with how sparse he receives calls anymore. He almost doesn't pick up, but when he walks over to check if he knows the number it's long distance and his curiosity gets the better of him.
"Salim Othman?" The painfully familiar voice questions, Salim so panicked to hear it after so long he almost hangs up on her. He's quiet for too long, unsure what to say, words refusing to form on his tongue- "[Sorry, I must have dialed the wrong-]"
"[No-]" Salim interjects, taking a deep breath despite his lack of any need for oxygen, "[No, this is him. Naiema, I-]"
"[Don't. Don't say anything, I don't want to hear it. Just let me talk.]"
He listens, closing his mouth immediately, waiting for her to press on.
The quiet between them is tense, seconds feel like hours, but eventually Naiema begins to break the silence. "[I don't want our son to be fatherless, even if you are the father in question... but if you're going to be a part of his life, we do this on my terms.]"
Salim's heart stills, tearing up as he hears now that not only has Naiema chosen to keep their baby after all these months where he'd assumed otherwise, but he finally finds out the gender, that they'll be having a little boy. He swallows hard, trying to keep his composure as best he can, "[Anything.]" and he means it, he would do anything to be a father to this baby.
"[You and I don't talk unless it has to do with our son. You're not attending his birth. You can see him but only if I am watching and never unattended. When he's born I'm getting him blessed by every damn religion under the sun I have access to, I'll get him an exorcism if I have to, and you can only see him after he's been blessed. And finally, you'll get to see him once a month for a few hours, no more and at a place of my choosing.]"
Salim bites his lip, squeezing his eyes closed as he presses his forehead against the wall just above the mounted landline. "[I can do that.]" It's not enough, a few hours once a month is basically a stranger... but Salim's only other choice is to not see his child at all.
"[Have you... Have you decided on a name?]" He waits patiently in the returned silence between them, the ticking of his clock is the only sign time is passing at all, until finally, she answers.
"Zain."
Zain. Salim could cry, that was one of the names he'd suggested in the short time they'd had while enthusiastically discussing future baby names before Salim had ruined it all by revealing what he was.
"[There's one more thing, Salim. I am no longer in Iraq.]"
Salim freezes, opening his eyes and pulling the phone away from his ear, just looking at the thing confused for a moment, not quite believing what he'd just heard. Salim may not have been created here, but it's where Salim had spent his entire 'human' life. It's where he fell in love with life on earth, where he met Naiema, it's home- and it was home to Naiema too. When they were together she had never suggested moving elsewhere, told Salim how much she loved the country and her life here, how she would never leave her family. It didn't seem real to Salim that she had left.
"[You're not? I- Why?]"
"[Because you're there.]"
It's Salim's turn to be quiet now, feeling as though he'd been punched in the gut, this sensation like he's suffocating despite being unable to do so. Naiema hated him, feared him so much that she couldn't stand the thought of staying in the very country she loved all because Salim was in it. He holds strong as best he can, fighting through the barrage of hurt racking through his body and soul so his ex-wife doesn't have to hear him breakdown. "[Where? I'll go anywhere for our son.]"
"[The last place I thought you'd check. America... New York. Once you're here text this number, only to say that it's you- once Zain is born and ready to meet I'll reach out to you.]" That's the last thing Naiema say's before Salim hears the click of the receiver and the line goes dead- He's quick to grab a pen and paper and jot down the number left in his call history, folding the note away into the pages of his favourite book so he won't lose it.
Salim doesn't relax after the call, his heart is pounding in his chest and he's anxious to be where his son will be.
He packs that same night, all his belongings dwindled down to the few that matter as well as the book with the number inside it that will connect him to his child. within six weeks he sells his house and remaining possessions and flies to New York the moment he no longer has anything keeping him in Iraq.
It's too difficult a task getting his citizenship the legal way, it takes far too long and with Salim only having flown here for a 'visit' he can't even work or buy a home- so Salim does what he has to since it's been nearly two months since Naiema called him in Iraq and he could get the text any day now that he can meet Zain.
Salim manipulates his way into citizenship, seduces and sleeps with all the right people, turning himself into whatever they dream of until his request for citizenship is pushed to the top and approved despite Salim's lack of qualifications, forged so everything looks as authentic as one can get.
He doesn't like the houses here as much as he does back home, they are more expensive for worse, the cities are loud at all hours of the day, but eventually he finds one good enough along the outskirts of town, nowhere near as quiet as home had been, but tolerable. It's small, and if Salim had to eat like any other human he would barely be able to afford it, but it's his new home for the foreseeable future.
He lives there for two weeks before he gets a text from Naiema telling Salim the location of a park they'll meet up at tomorrow- and if it rains there's a little cafe they'll meet at instead.
When Salim finally gets to hold his son, his flesh burns and blisters from all the blessings laid down on his baby boy, but Salim would hold him forever if his ex-wife let him.
-
Salim has a deal with the owner of a corner store three blocks from his house, an unspoken schedule between the two of them. Any day of the week, save for Sunday, Salim can visit between eight to ten in the morning and make an exchange of 'goods', though Salim benefits far more from it then the store owner.
It's been going on for the last five and a half years now, Salim visiting once, maybe twice a week when the hunger starts to burn and he doesn't have the energy to lure in anyone else.
He enters the store at just a quarter past nine, a few other patrons in the store, two in line, one looking around the aisles. The owner grins at him when he catches him walking in, a white man a little older than middle-aged, he's got a false silver tooth and slightly receding hairline, and while his name tag reads 'Hank', his real name is Harvey. Salim thinks he could be attractive, but his personality is where he loses him, he's a selfish, disingenuous man- but, at the same time, that's why Salim's here.
As Hank takes care of everyone else in the store, Salim pretends to browse the snacks, mindlessly wondering how they would taste and how nice it would be to be able to fill his hunger up on them instead. His son loves the sugary ones, he will buy some for him next week when his ex-wife lets him do his monthly visit... A small pang of lust in the air pulls his attention away from the human food, eyes laser focused on locating the source, unsurprisingly coming from the store owner, looking right at him as he hands the lady in line a pack of cigarettes she'd asked for. Technically, that's the reason the store owner thinks he's here.
He can smell as their arousal grows as he works through the customers, and it's certainly distracting, his mouth waters at the smell in the air. It's not his favourite way to feed, but it's the easiest way he has and he can't complain when he still loves the taste. This way requires no effort, no shapeshifting his entire body to attract someone (aside to hide his demonic features), no tricking or tempting the soul into feeding him, it's safe too- he's never accidentally devoured a soul this way, it requires more... giving, so to speak.
When the bell on the door chimes for the final time as the last customer leaves, Hank gives a low whistle that draws Salim's attention back to him, like catcalling a woman on the street. "Out of cigs again?" He chuckles, turning around in the little spot behind the counter and pulling out a pack of smokes out from off the wall, a cheshire like grin on his face as he slides them across the counter, eyes locked with Salim's across the store.
"It's been a stressful week." Salim shrugs as he approaches, taking the cigarettes and flipping them over, turning the anti-smoking advertisement on the back away from him before pocketing the pack. "And you certainly don't look to be complaining either." He adds, looking up at him through his eyelashes, a seductive smile on his face in the way Salim knows works him up, smelling the increased arousal pour off him.
"I sure as hell ain't." Hank chuckles lowly, opening the flap in the counter to let Salim through, gesturing with his hand for Salim to go on ahead, "I'll meet you there in a sec, just need to put up the closed sign real quick, you know where you're goin' anyway."
Salim nods as he walks on in, not even jumping when Hank gives his ass a hard smack as he walks past him- after almost six years of this it's predictable.
It's a cooler day, Salim notes as he waits in the back alleyway behind the shop, just outside the backroom doors of the store's employee break room. There's a chill in the wind, and Salim can't help but tilt his head back and bask in it, all cold sensations a pleasure on his ever heated flesh- he recalls the first time he'd left the underworld in which he was created, the fresh air, the scenery, the life, an entire world not filled with lava and ash. Choosing to make life above the surface his home had been such an easy decision, and only damnation or death would ever have him returning from whence he came.
His thoughts are interrupted as the backroom door squeaks open and Hank comes walking out, looking around for Salim and smiling satisfied when he spots him in their usual spot by the dumpster. His one hand is already palming himself, a visible chub in his pants beneath his fingers.
"Alright, slut. You already know what to do." He grunts, not doing any of the work for Salim, just reaching into his pocket and pulling out a smoke and lighter while Salim drops down to a squat.
It's easy work for Salim, his taste buds already swimming in just the heady arousal of the man above him.
He takes his time unbuttoning Hank's pants, dragging his tongue over the bulge in his boxers once he's pulled his jeans down to his knees, moving down lower to suck on his balls through the thin fabric while rubbing his hand along his cock, eyes locked with the store owner's all the while. He devours the look of pleasure across his face, how he groans around the cigarette between his teeth and struggles to keep a steady enough grip on his lighter to light the tip.
Salim is kind enough to help him out, pulling his dick out of his boxers, and when Hank's eyes fall closed from the sensation of cool air hitting his heated cock Salim's eyes glow for just a moment as he ignites the tip of the cigarette for him.
He moans under his breath at the smell of smoke in the air, an innate love for anything related to fire imbued in his veins.
He wastes no more time in getting a taste of Hank's cock, hands moving to grip the thin man's thighs, nails digging into flesh to anchor himself as he licks a long streak from along his balls then up his pulsing dick until he reaches the tip. He tongues over the slit, gasping in pleasure at just the taste of precum, sucking the head into his mouth and greedily trying to milk the man for more.
Salim can feel himself grow wet in his own boxers, his damned body screaming at him to take what he really wants, to feel the cock against his lips instead penetrate deep inside his ass, to satiate the long growing hunger he's neglected for the years since he's moved to America. He ignores his body's call for sex as best he can, satisfying himself by removing a hand from Hank's thigh and pressing it down the back of his own pants, pressing three fingers inside himself as his devilish body opens up with ease.
He whines on his own fingers, it's never enough, it will never be enough, an incubus' own hellish curse to never be able to satisfy themselves or their hunger without the assistance of another.
Hank's hands grip Salim's hair tight, grunting around the cigarette in his mouth as he pushes Salim's mouth further down on himself, "Come on, whore, you know I can't take too long."
Salim's eyes roll back as he easily takes the cock down his throat, swallowing down on the girth pressed all the way back on his tongue.
It's hard for Salim to think when his body gets a taste of what it so desperately wants, Salim unable to stop himself as he bobs up and down on Hank's dick in earnest.
The alleyway is filled with the wet, sloppy sounds of a rough blowjob, the deep groans of Hank as he humps into Salim's open and willing mouth, his balls slapping on Salim's chin, and Salim's muffled moans as he fucks himself back on his fingers all the while.
He whines as he feels Hank's brutal pace pick up, his orgasm growing ever nearer as he uses Salim's face like an object, pumping in and out of his mouth in earnest.
And when that first burst of hot cum shoots out into the back of Salim's throat, he can't help but squeeze his eyes shut tight as he orgasms from the taste, blissfully being fed what he keeps himself starved for.
Hank always cums far too fast for Salim's liking, and it takes everything in him not to use his abilities to keep Hank hard and horny so Salim can swallow down another load, but just like always, he somehow manages to restrain himself.
Salim licks every inch of Hank's cock and balls clean of any cum that spilled out of his mouth, greedily swallowing it all down as he feels a little of his strength return to him- not all, far from it, but enough for him to keep himself disguised as human for another week.
Hank doesn't stick around beyond that, tucking himself back into his pants, stomping out his cigarette and heading back inside as soon as Salim's done cleaning him off without a single word, leaving Salim in the alleyway behind a dumpster to take care of himself.
It's easy for Salim to clean himself, his body absorbing any of Hank's cum that got onto his skin, just snapping his fingers to fix the rest of his disheveled appearance, able to use just a little of his energy to do so so soon after being fed.
He sighs as he pushes himself back up to a stand, looking down at his watch and smiling when he sees he's still on time for the bus to work.
As he exits the alley, he reaches into his back pocket and pulls out the cigarettes he'd gotten for the 'price' of a blowjob, lighting it with just a flash of his eyes as he heads for his bus stop.
-
Salim hums to himself as he sweeps up the floors to his place, getting ready for tomorrow when his son will be coming for the regular visit, trying to get as much done before work so he can relax with a good book later- he jumps when there's suddenly a sharp knocking on his door.
"One second!" He calls out, propping the broom up against the wall and rinsing off his hands before heading to the front entrance- he does a quick once-over in the mirror just to be sure none of his demonic features are still out before opening the door.
He's surprised when he sees Naiema standing there, looking around for Zain but not seeing him anywhere, "[Where's-?]"
"[He's in the car.]" And sure enough, when Salim looks over to his driveway he sees Zain sitting in the backseat, waving excitedly at him.
"[Not that I mind the visit, but you're a day early-]"
"[I'm done.]" Naiema interrupts, crossing her arms over her chest, eyes downcast. "[I can't do this anymore.]"
"[I don't understand.]" It sounds like Naiema is saying she's cutting Salim off from his son, and Salim would panic if that were the case, but a part of him doesn't believe that's what's going on here- if it were, why would she bring Zain here to tell him this? Why not just text him? It's not like she ever gave Salim her address, Salim couldn't go to them if she just cut off contact.
"[I'm saying I can't take care of Zain any longer. Every day he's starting to look more and more like you, and I just- I can't stand to look at him any more. I see him and I can only think about what you are. I can't keep something like that in my house.]"
Salim's brows furrow, looking over to his son, too happy to know what's going on- Naiema hasn't told Zain what she's doing. "[Why now? He's seven, almost eight, you can't just abandon the boy-]"
"[I can and I am. I have a flight back to Iraq in a couple of hours, and I'm returning to my family. Don't follow me or try to contact me.]"
"[Naiema, wait-]" Salim reaches out for her as she walks back to her car, but Naiema pulls away, sneering at him.
"[Don't touch me.]"
Salim can only watch as Naiema opens the door for Zain before popping the trunk to her car and pulling out some suitcases and boxes.
Zain happily grabs one of his suitcases from inside the car before running over to Salim, "[Baba! Baba, mama said I get to stay with you now!]" He happily shouts, unknowing just how permanent this is, that it's not just a few nights sleeping over like he's been begging for for years, it's his own mother abandoning him for good- that this is the last time he'll ever see or hear from his mom again.
"[So I've been told!]" Salim smiles, picking his son up and holding him on his hip, trying to match his child's enthusiasm without letting on that something is wrong.
Of course he's happy his son will finally get to stay with him, that he can be a parent for more than a few hours a month and some special occasions between... but not like this.
Naiema leaves Zain's stuff halfway down the driveway, only moving them out of the way of her car, before climbing back into the driver's seat and leaving for the airport.
It occurs to Salim that this has been a long time coming, Naiema finally executing a plan she must have had for a while now- for her to already have a way home, a plan to rejoin her family back in Iraq. How long had this all been in the works?
Salim shakes his head, trying to clear his thoughts- Zain doesn't even have a room here, and he's not going to make his boy sleep on the couch his first night here.
Trying to make the best of a bad situation, he turns to Zain, giving his son the best smile he can manage right now, "[How about you and I bring all your stuff inside and then we go to the store and you help your baba pick out some furniture for your new room?]"
Zain enthusiastically agrees.

Does Spider know that she was made to be a human recom in your genderbent au? And if ao how did she find out?
She learns slowly, over time.
When she’s young, Nora simplifies it—she just refers to Quaritch as her “mother.” It’s softer than the truth, which would be something like: “You were a genetic backup, grown in case Quaritch’s human body died… which it did. So, oops, you’re the forgotten emergency eggshell they left behind.”
The real story doesn’t come out all at once. Maybe Spider finds old files about her own DNA and notices there’s only one parent strand. Or maybe someone slips up and says something they shouldn’t. Either way, it hits her hard when the pieces start to fall into place.
She tries not to show how much it affects her—but it does. Deeply. It also helps explain why Neytir is so cold toward her. Why she’s discouraged from spending time with the Sully kids. That distance stings, but eventually, it starts to make a painful kind of sense.
It’s a sad reality of her existence. But it doesn’t truly hit until the second act, when it’s revealed that Quaritch is still alive. Her Avatar—with all her memories—is part of the new wave of RDA enforcement.
That changes everything.
Spider hates her. She sees Quaritch as the reason she’ll never be fully accepted by Neytir or the Omatikaya. But more than that—she’s terrified. Is Quaritch here for her? To take her back? To use her body?
That’s why she was created, right?
But Quaritch is… fascinated. She didn’t even know the human clone project had been approved. Yet here’s this girl—a genetic copy, but with no memories. A new soul.
Avatar Quaritch is a copy of the mind and soul of her original self. Spider is a copy of the body—but with something entirely new inside.
And that makes Quaritch see her as a strange, unexpected daughter. A younger version of herself. A clean slate. She begins to feel something like protectiveness. Something conflicted, and dangerous, and real.
And that makes everything way more complicated.
Because if the RDA ever gets their hands on Spider, would they store her? Keep her hidden away until she’s old enough to be used? Would Quaritch try to claim her—to step back into a human body using Spider like a spare uniform?
When Spider is taken, the Omatikaya don’t move immediately.
To protect their people, Jane and Neytir flee with their children. They don’t risk the clan. Not for this.
But not before Jane and Nora have a massive fight.
Nora wants her to do something. To get Spider back. Jane—already in soldier mode—tries to explain: The Omatikaya can't possibly fight this. The RDA base is too heavily guarded. Storming it would cost lives they can’t afford to lose.
And how is she supposed to justify that risk? “Let’s go rescue the clone of the colonel responsible for the deaths of thousands?”
Even if she wants to… how does she ask that of them?
And K'ir—oh, sweet K'ir—is not happy.
He’s furious.
His relationship with Neytir has always been strained because of how his father treats Spider. But when he sees his mother refuse to fight for her—that’s what breaks his heart.
Those emotions don’t fade. They deepen. And they begin to change him.
He starts relying more on his own thoughts, his own instincts. He draws closer to Eywa, not out of peace, but out of need. He begins to wonder: Can I find Spider—through Eywa?
(Which I’ll make a separate post about: how and what K'ir is in relation to Grant—because obviously, that’s a bit different than in the canon movies…)

Have you seen the new Quaritch and Spiders footage? I can't wait to see what it's all about! Do you have any thoughts on that? <3
I did! It was weird actually. I tend to stay off of my devices until I’m having breakfast but for some reason I just had to check YouTube not long after I woke up and sure enough Avatar Theory had posted a video on the new images. I actually thought it was an edit with Quaritch’s little hoodie. It’s just so funny to me that they made a bunch of merch for a team that’s down to two. (Unless they have backup clones of the recoms but I doubt that) I wanted to take some time to collect my thoughts and see others takes but I think I’m ready now.
Tumblr media
I don’t want to get to in depth over things others have gone over. Yes Spider’s been accepted by the Metkayina from his new look and tattoo. (And good god did they accept him quickly because the wound on his chest doesn’t even look fully healed yet. Hell yeah to the Metkayina for that) Yes Quaritch in his silly little hoodie looks really happy to see him but also yeah he’s probably on his bullshit.
I’m thinking more of where does this fall in the story based off of what we already know. I feel like this is probably pretty early on. We know from script leaks that there’s some kind of oil rig/ sea base that I imagine Quaritch and Wainfleet run to right after the battle at three brothers. If I’m using Spider’s wound as a time marker (which I acknowledge could be a little faulty. Different skin tones scar differently and I only have my own to go off of. My skin either changes texture or turns darker. It never permanently stays red which is why I believe Spider’s wound is still fairly fresh) then I believe it’s only been a few weeks since the battle at three brothers rock. So in that time Quaritch would have regrouped, strategized a raid and then executed it, capturing Spider again and who know’s who else.
But I think this will be short lived when the Ash Clan rocks up
Tumblr media
I know this isn’t a still from the movie but look at the background
Tumblr media
That’s the cove of the ancestors. For better or (most likely) worse they are showing up on Sea people land. My guess would be that they’re trying to take them over but end up in a fire fight with the R.D.A instead. This would be why Quaritch and Jake decide to team up going off of Stephan Lang’s interview.
Tumblr media
We also know at some point Spider is going to be able to breath Pandoran air thanks to Kiri preforming a miracle. I’m on the fence of when this would be in the film. I think it would work in the beginning of the movie, like Spider gets injured in the initial fire fight, is healed by Kiri and this event acts as the catalyst for Quaritch and Jake’s contentious alliance. But also I like the idea of it being in the climax of the film. After a series of backstabbing and manipulation on Quaritch’s part with Spider trying to legitimately turn his father to the good guys side, Spider gets injured in the big final battle. It’s playing out like Neteyam’s death when Kiri saves him. Quaritch would of course be greatfull. But the miracle also adds to the confusion that Slang talks about here:
Tumblr media
Maybe it’s because I’m currently rewatching The Venture Bro’s right now (which is my favorite show hands down and has a lot of messy father son relationships in it) But this sounds to me like Quaritch admires Spider for everything Quaritch himself could have been under different circumstances. Because Spider and Quaritch do share personality traits. Willful, stubborn, values loyalty. And Quaritch is proud of Spider for that. He loves his feisty son. But I imagine he’s also jealous of Spider’s heart. Because Spider is actually pretty open with his emotions. He doesn’t try to hide when he’s crying or when he’s scared. He’s at least emotionally attuned to his friends since when he sees he’s made Kiri uncomfortable by making fun of who her dad is, he immediately turns the conversation onto himself to take the unwanted attention. Spider at his heart is kind and empathetic and I can see Quaritch valuing that while also being envious of what he isn’t. And because he dosen’t think he can be like that he might seek to stomp that out of Spider. So after a big emotional back and forth of Spider trying to save his dad and Quaritch trying to corrupt his son out of jealousy, he nearly watches his only son die only to be saved by a god he would never have believed in. I think that would be an interesting place to leave him before getting into Avatar 4.
But also I’ve read script leaks of Jake and Norm talking about Spider being able to breath Pandoran air and how they can never let the R.D.A get him. So maybe the miracle happens in the opening of the film and becomes a big plot point. (Or maybe that script is from Avatar 4?) Maybe Quaritch attacks, ends up hurting his son in the process, Kiri saves him and then a stunned Quaritch snatches Spider up on instinct, not thinking “hey the science devision of the R.D.A might want to dissect my kid for this!” Maybe Jake attacks the base to get Spider back (which is some redemption I’d love to see) and they’re successful because conveniently the Ash Clan attacks at the same time.
We know Quaritch and maybe Lyle too will be captured by the Ash Clan at some point from this image
Tumblr media
So maybe in a fun uno reverse. Quaritch capture Spider only to be captured himself by Varang five minutes later. Or Quaritch willingly gives himself up after seeing Varangs forces first hand and goes to make a deal with her that quickly gets out of hand forcing Quaritch to make an alliance with Jake.
So those are my very unorganized thoughts. Honestly at first the only thing I could thinks was:
Quaritch and Spider: Your family member traumatized you? Just traumatize them back.
I don’t call myself dumbass for nothing after all.
I’d love to hear everyone else’s thoughts so please feel free to comment, add on to this post, or message me. 💙

So I’ve been spending the past few months doing research on the American military and Iraq under Saddam Hussein. I figured I’d dump a bunch of facts and sources here so anyone making fanfiction or fanart can use this post for help. Keep in mind that I am NOT an expert! If something looks wrong, please tell me! I’ll be posting my sources at the end.

I love reading fic with chaotic Jason. But you know what I like more? Salim who is a hundred times worse than Jason could ever be.
Jason kind of carries the theme of loyalty for the whole game, that’s his major trait in my mind. He’s semper fi or die. But he’s not so much stubborn as he is confident (or carrying the act of confidence at least). Salim is stubborn above all else. I’ve read some fics where this trait is shown as an active flaw, getting him into arguments with Jason and Zain because he won’t back down from his own opinions, which, chefs kiss, love a hero with heroic traits that bite them in the ass
I think Salim is emotionally mature, and doesn’t like fights. This can coexist with him being the pigheaded agent of chaos I acknowledge him as. Like. Hes throwing out wise proverbs and sage advice while stabbing things with a stick. This man jokes with a gun in his face. He punches his CO for insulting his son. He throws his gun at a vampire. Did you hear this motherfucker cackling at that monster getting crushed by the van? Jason does some dumb shit (he’s also got jokes when getting threatened) but Salim is on another level. No wonder his son breaks the law, nothing can contain an Othman apparently. Jason’s mostly obedient to chain of command with some exceptions, while Salim’s off doing his own thing for most of the game. He’s busy poking at seemingly the most volatile American he can find to get some character development out of that motherfucker. What an obstinate little shit.
I see a lot of headcanons where Jason does dumb shit while Salim sighs in the background. And I’m like, yeah, and right after he’s done his tired dad thing, he’s going to go help Jason make the issue worse. They match in dumbassery, just in different ways, it’s why they work so well together

Why did Jason's mom give up on her kids in Twisted Love?
She was pressured into having that big a family (By her husband, her in-laws, and her own parents). She was happy with her first three kids and didn't want the last two, so she didn't really bother with them, never took time to really get to know or love them

So did Jason receive any military training in Twisted Love? Is he a lieutenant like he is in the game?
There was no official military training, but his father was in the military when he was younger and did teach Jason some things, so he has a good bit of knowledge with fighting at least, and how to move injured men (like when he moved Salim)

Can you elaborate more on what you mean Jason would do if Salim were to prevent him from having sex with him?
2. Why do Jason's siblings view him so poorly? Is it because of their father? Or did they always feel this way toward him regardless of their parents? (Will this become important in the story?)
3. In your AU, where is Salim's ex-wife anyway?
4. So idk (self indulgent LOL)but would Jason bottom for Salim at some point in the story (just curious)
5. What's Jason's relationship with his parents separately? Like his relationship with his father compared to his mother? Was his father always such a piece of shit? Why? Did he become one? How?
6. Why did Jason turn to drugs in the first place? Boredom?
7. What are Jason's and Salim's highest levels of education? What were they studying anyways? Do Jason and Salim enjoy their respective majors? Did Salim go to university in Iraq?
8. Do you think Jason would bottom for Salim (and take it up the ass)? Because he's just so madly in love (obsessed) with him?
9. What was it about Bottom that made Jason have such a visceral reaction to it? Was it simply the sensation of the dick in his ass? Was it because of his partner at the time? Like, they made it unpleasant for him? (I'm sorry, I DON'T KNOW HOW TO PHRASE IT BETTER.)
10. For shits and giggles (if you played or watched the game), what kind of vampires do you think Salim and Jason would be like?
11. One thing that confused me, which I'm not sure if it was cleared up, but Salim (in your AU) was never drafted for the military? So, like, 9/11 didn't happen in this timeline guess? Or it did, but the draft skipped him for some reason?
12. How or when did Salim take his son to America anyway? Specifically, where are they? In Georgia? New York (this is really for my own curiosity)
13. What are Jason and Salim's kinks? Or strong fetishes they have? And how did they develop?
14. What are Salim and Jason's favorite foods and beverages?
15. Do you think Jason was the kind of person to have glasses when he was younger (just curious; I think he probably did and just got contacts or something.)
16. How strong are Salim, Jason, and Dar, respectively? Is Salim stronger than Jason, and is Dar weaker than Jason? How often, if at all, do they work out? Do you think Salim would be able to take Jason out in a fight if it came down to it?
Thank you!
Another bunch answered :) Thank you for taking the time to ask
A bit long, so once again under the cut
1. Can you elaborate more on what you meant Jason would do if Salim were to prevent him from having sex with him?
Let's say in this situation Salim locked himself in the washroom and is refusing to come out: At first Jason would talk sweetly to him through the door, 'it's alright darling', 'come on out, let's talk, okay'. Then would come the threats, 'get out or I'll lock you up for the night!', 'do you really want me to hurt your fucking son?!' (Realistically Salim would hurry out after this- he'll take whatever Jason has in mind, to keep his son safe… but let's say he didn't…). The more time that passes the worse the threats get, gruesome details on what he'll do to Salim when he gets out (describing how he'll fuck him, rough, a punishment), what he'll do to his boy (violence, breaking bones, beating him, etc.). If Salim still remains locked away. Jason would furiously bang on the door, throw his whole body into it, not against breaking it down if it comes to it- and eventually he will. He'd find Salim sobbing in the bathtub, curled in on himself.
Jason would rip him out, drag Salim to the basement and chain him up there, fuck him on the hard, cold floor like he'd threatened. The sex would be rough, hair pulling, scratching, biting, Salim's armed chained tight behind his back. Then he'd leave when he was done, leaving Salim to continue the punishment… but this behaviour can't be tolerated, he can't let Salim think any of his threats are empty… Salim would hear Jason storm off out of the house, and in a few hours Jason would return, coming down to the basement much calmer, eerily so. He's dressed in all black, a bloody pair of gloves and face mask in his hand he throws off to the side as he approaches Salim on the floor.
Jason would then show him a recording on his phone, force him to watch the whole thing, not letting him look away. It would be of Jason sneaking in through an unfamiliar window to Salim, quietly approaching a sleeping figure, the camera dropped on the bed for a few tense seconds as Jason does something that requires both hands- you can hear a muffled sound of surprise and a one sided, short lived struggle. And when the camera is picked up, Salim would weep as he sees Zain for the first time since being abducted. His boy, Zain, woken in the middle of the night, blindfolded, gagged, Jason sitting over him, videoing. Through the gag he can make out what Zain cries, futilely trying to thrash 'baba, I want my baba-!'
He tries to look away when Jason pulls out a knife, familiar, the same one he'd killed Dar with- but Jason yanks his hair and yells at him to watch… so he does. Zain screams into the gag as Jason cuts off his little finger on his left hand…
Salim sobs when the video ends, sobs which turn to a heart wrenching scream, and finish with him puking it's contents onto the floor when Jason holds his son's severed finger, discarded in a little sandwich bag, out in front of him… Safe to say Salim would never step out of line again :)
2. Why do Jason's siblings view him so poorly? Is it because of their father? Or did they always feel this way toward him regardless of their parents? (Will this become important in the story?)
Jason's siblings are split into two categories, the ones around his age, and the one's ten plus years older than him (He's got five total siblings, two sisters, three brothers. Two of his brothers are in the mid thirties, while the other three siblings are a year to four years older than him). The older ones view him poorly because of their parents, but they also have a resentment for all the younger siblings because they basically had to give up there preteen and teenage years to babysitting them. The one's closer to his age were close to him when they were kids, but when Jason started high school he started hanging with the wrong crowds and they slowly started to grow distant- and when Jason started drugs they completely severed their connection to him. Over the years since, they never tried to repair their relationship and their parents common bad talking of Jason has made their view of their little brother even worse, to the point they all adamantly refuse to admit they were ever close to him when they were kids. All of Jason's siblings are married, half have their own children, which also makes them feel like Jason is the lesser/failure of their family.
Jason's siblings aren't important to the story, but I do plan on him having an interaction or two with them.
3. In your AU where is Salim's ex-wife anyway?
Salim's ex-wife is still in Iraq, when she and Salim separated she returned to her own family who hadn't disowned her (Unlike Salim's father, who had forced the rest of the family to distance themselves from the one who had 'strayed from Allah's light'). Her family is very much under the opinion the Salim's entirely at fault for their daughter's behaviour, and that it's solely him to blame for the unwanted baby and marriage.
4. Would Jason bottom for Salim at some point in the story?
Jason won't bottom in the story, only because I'm a whore for bottom Salim and only write that type of content. That being said, if I did write bottom Jason, he would at least try it once (Explained more in different question).
5. What's Jason's relationship with his parents separately? Like his relationship with his father compared to his mother? Was his father always such a piece of shit? Why? Did he become one? How?
His relationship with his father is toxic and has been for as long as he can remember. It all started when Jason was a slower learner than any of his siblings, his father basically deciding then and there that Jason was a fuck up, and every little mess up, every tiny accident beyond there just reinforced that opinion. Jason wasn't the only kid his father verbally or physically abused, but he was the most. He tells people he tried with Jason, tried to teach him about cars, carpentry, life skills- but he never mentions learning with him was the most stressful thing Jason's ever been through, one little mistake and he was smacked or yelled at until he was sobbing, which only made his pa angrier.
His relationship with his mother is hardly existent. She was a perfect mother to here oldest son's, a good mother to the eldest daughter, but with Jason and her second youngest boy, she was barely even a parental figure in their life. She never gave advice, never protected them from their father's anger, she just sipped wine and ignored them. She'd get annoyed when they came to her for anything, just gave them cash and told them to go find something else to do or someone else to bother- it's why when she did give a little advice to Jason in that one chapter, the one where he got Salim the necklace, Jason got uncomfortable/confused. Truth is, she couldn't care less, she just wants to have Jason look like he has his life together to other people and maintaining a girlfriend will help.
Jason's father was raised by a man just like him, although not quite as physical he still received what he calls 'a few healthy beatings' growing up. The difference is he actually respects his father and Jason hates him. His belief system is unfortunately just what's been taught to him his whole life, and he's never tried to challenge those beliefs.
6. Why did Jason turn to drugs in the first place?
Isolation from his siblings, a little peer pressure, stress, and mostly trying to upset his parents… getting addicted wasn't planned, and switching from weed to doing hard drugs was a quick progression when, for a while, it was the only thing that made him feel good.
7. What are Jason's and Salim's highest levels of education? What are they studying anyway? Do Jason and Salim enjoy their respective majors? Did Salim go to university in Iraq?
They both graduated high school, Salim being top of his class back in Iraq and Jason just scrapping by. (For the actually game, I head cannon the same for Jason, but I think Salim did a few years of university but dropped out when Zain was born)
8. Do you think Jason would bottom for Salim? Because he's just so madly in love with him?
I think, if Salim were brave enough to proposition as much, Jason would eagerly give it a try, happy to just because Salim asked. He'd go into it thinking he was going to love it, because how could he not when Salim's going to be actively fucking him? But, just like his first time bottoming, Jason would not enjoy it- unlike the first time, he would actually endure it long enough to let Salim finish, but Jason wouldn't be able to cum and would be flaccid by the end of it.
9. What was it about bottoming that made Jason have such a visceral reaction to it? Sensation? Partner? Did they make it unpleasant for him?
It wasn't a visceral reaction, it was him simply not liking the sensation of being penetrated, the feeling just left him feeling uncomfortable, and the little pleasure from his prostate wasn't enough to get him anywhere or even over the feeling of being filled. Bottoming just isn't for him, he much prefers to be the one on top.
10. For shits and giggles, what kind of vampires do you think Salim and Jason would be like?
I'm not 100% sure if you mean in game vampires, or fantasy vampires in general, but assuming you mean in general; I think Jason would be a Dhampire (human/vampire hybrid), and I think Salim would be a Daywalker (A vampire who can survive and move around in sunlight). I think Jason would do everything in his power to distance himself from his vampire half, despising that part of himself. On the other hand, while Salim has no shame in his vampire lineage, Salim spent his entire youth in love with the idea of daylight and human life, wishing nothing more than to walk among humans and feel the warmth of the sun (Eventually he finds an artifact that turns him into a Daywalker, breaking once it has). Salim would allow Jason to see that there's nothing to be ashamed of with vampire blood, and that it doesn't make him a monster, and Jason would be able to really show Salim parts of what human life is like, things he never know before.
11. One thing that confused me, which I'm not sure if it was cleared up, but Salim (In your AU) was never drafted for the military? So, like, 9/11 didn't happen in this timeline I guess? Or it did but the draft skipped him for some reason?
Salim was thankfully, but very narrowly, able to avoid getting drafted. While 9/11 did happen, Salim had already been in America with his son for a view months at that point. He'd avoided military service before thanks to being a single father with Zain, and being estranged from his wife and disowned by his family, it left no other guardians for the little boy.
12. How or when did Salim take his son to America anyway? Specifically, where are they?
They came to America early 2001, around March, but Salim had been going through the process of trying to get a green-card for him and his son to get into America for years before that- he'd started trying not long after his wife left him, wanting to get out of Iraq because, as much as he loves and fondly remembers his country, without any of his family talking to him anymore, he felt like there was nothing for him there anymore. He chose America, because he thought it would give Zain the most opportunities as he grew up… he would have chosen a different country, Canada or England, had he known what would happen in America (Both 9/11 and now Jason)
I don't have a specific location in mind because I'm not American, but I'm thinking somewhere rural in a Northern state that experiences all four seasons
13. What are Jason and Salim's kinks? Or strong fetishes they have? And how did they develop?
For Jason; his main ones are body hair, bondage or being bound, praise, manhandling his partner, begging blindfolds, his partner in lingerie, being a dom, when his partner is loud, biting/leaving lots of marks, edge play, breath play (On himself), body worship and cumming on his partner. I'm not sure how they all developed, but his praise kink comes from not getting enough as a kid, edge play came from carving a 'J' in Salim's thigh and it awakening something. He learned a lot of his kinks from experimenting.
For Salim; Bondage, praise, being taken care of, taking care of his partner, when his partner is vocal, frottage, body worship, orgasm denial. I'm also not sure how Salim developed these, except for bondage which he slowly grows to like under Jason.
14. What are Salim and Jason's favourite foods and beverages?
Jason loves the more savoury treats, but for dinner he can't go wrong with a good burger, and sprite. Salim meanwhile loves anything sweet, unable to turn down any baked good or a nice, fresh, juicy fruit! His favourite drink is probably jallab and his go to meal is quzi, a big fan of lamb.
15. Do you think Jason was the kind of person to have glasses when he was younger?
I don't personally think so, however if he did, I think he would either get corrective surgery or not bother with glasses and just deal with his bad vision.
16. How strong are Salim, Jason, and Dar, respectively? Is Salim stronger than Jason, and is Dar weaker than Jason? How often, if at all, do they work out? Do you think Salim would be able to take Jason in a fight if it came down to it?
Dar is physically the strongest, the only reason Jason could take him was because he 'fought' dirty, using a gun and being near Zain and Salim to subdue him. Jason is the fastest with Dar probably being the slowest. Salim is a little bit stronger than Jason, he had a much more healthy and active lifestyle growing up back in Iraq and that muscle is still very much there now. None of them really go to the gym, besides Jason but it's very rare. That being said, Salim, if needed, could not take Jason in a fight in the AU, because even though he's stronger, Jason actually knows how to fight. Jason's been fighting since he was a teen, getting into fights regularly back when he was in high school over petty things and drugs. Salim could get a couple good hits in, hurt Jason pretty damn bad too, but unless he gets incredibly lucky, Jason's winning.

How tall are Jason, Dar, and Salim in Twisted Love?
Because Jason's and Salim's models are both 6 ft tall.
I just wanted to know if that's changed...
That hasn't changed! They're both 6ft, Dar is 6'2
Jason can appear a little shorter than Salim because he slouches a little, but they're the same height :)
