We’re reminded why we love and want to protect each and every one of these characters while also learning new things about them. We see character matchups that haven’t been seen since the early days of the show. We return to plotlines that were long thought abandoned. The character development people have been hoping for with certain Paladins finally comes into focus.

Sheith is Amazing

No seriously, it’s become something so much more to me than just a fun thing to ship. It’s become an important milestone in my life. These sorts of things can become really important in helping someone learn and grow. Just as it has for myself.

As a gay trans man, Sheith has just utterly blown my mind. I love the characters and I love what they represent. I identify with them, I sympathize with them. I learn from and through them.

And to see the community that gathered in their wake. All the art, writing, stories, songs, jokes, quotes and the just astronomical amounts of PURE PASSION.

We are all celebrating a deep friendship and a love that knows no bounds. What a pure thing to be a part of. What a relieving and validating thing to know how many people support m|m relationships and such noble values in other people. I have met so many amazing people through this that I would never have met otherwise.

I don’t care what anyone else says. Sheith has become a critical milestone in my life and I am eternally grateful for it. I am eternally grateful for the gift that the Voltron crew have given us. I may never meet any of them, and even if I did I don’t think I can ever thank them enough. The least I can do is spread the passion and try to lift up the community around me. This is something I will carry with me to the end of my days.

And I am so very thankful for that.

Queerbaiting is when two same-sex characters act like they’re in a romantic relationship, get really close to kissing or otherwise put into intimate positions, etc on screen without actually doing anything that would confirm them to be in a relationship. Queerbaiting is not when the creators shoot down a ship you like, between two characters who have neither expressed any romantic interest in one another nor been put into fanservice-y positions with each other in canon. You searched for chemistry that wasn’t there, read too far into every line they said to one another, intentionally misinterpreted their anger and insults toward one another as “romantic”, used fucking colors in the backgrounds to say that the showrunners were going to make this relationship canon. That’s all you. The showrunners haven’t queerbaited anyone. Go back to watching shojo anime if you want to see queerbaiting.

I agree. I understand people are irritated that these foolish antis are doing all these disgusting things but no matter what we say/ what we do we won’t stop them. It’s better to just go on and enjoy your ship rather than use it even if you’re going to use it in a positive light. Antis always have a way of trying to make shalladin stans look like the bad guys just because of our ships.

since i’ve been seeing this floating around:

i know someone made an/ti pride flags against certain shal/adin ships, but please do not reuse them even in jest, especially if you’re not LGBTQ+. at least one looks like an almost copy-paste of an already existing flag for aromanticism, and i can guarantee that people who hate sha/aladin ships will gleefully accuse us of misusing pride flags if they see them.

and no, it doesn’t matter if one of their own created them in the first place. the flags shouldn’t exist, you know that side of fandom will blame us about them anyway if they’re being used, and the problems innate to the flags don’t go away just because they’re being used ironically.

so please don’t use them!
