Amen, sister!
Merry Christmas everyone, remember that today we celebrate the birth of not ‘a’ savior, but THE Savior. The One who was born unblemished to be the perfect sacrifice for our unredeemable selves, the One who was and is the only Person able to save us: Jesus Christ.

Happy to see my story make the list. I might not be a big contributor anymore to the fandom, but I will always love Sherlolly!

A sad loss
My thoughts and prayers go out to all the people who are grieving the loss of Queen Elizabeth II. As a native Australian, I have always loved the royal family, and my heart breaks at this news. I even shed some tears over it.
but I rejoice that she is now in heaven and reunited with her husband

I don't have Tiktok, nor do I care to have an account.
I agree with writingwife83's comment on this. Same thing applies for people reading fanfiction - we authors love to see comments on every chapter, even an old story. Even now, when I rarely publish, I still get a buzz when I get a review, and I still respond to each one.
I’m know I’m not the first person to say this, but any newbies on tumblr really need to understand how different this is from a lot of other social media. Particularly tiktok.
I just saw a creator on tiktok reminding followers that it’s actually a problem when someone goes back to the earliest post and watches all the posts chronologically, liking and commenting along the way. The stupid app recognizes it as spam or something and then kinda puts a halt on their account? Literally punishing people for positive engagement?? 🥴🤦‍♀️
I’ve already heard people saying years back how they don’t want to be “creepy” and go through a persons blog, liking and reblogging tons of stuff. But think how many more people are going to be worried about it now, thinking they might do actual damage! Most people, especially younger people, are so used to the way tiktok works now. So please, do not ever worry about this on here. Just remember-
You will never do any harm if you go on a like and reblog fest through someone’s tumblr blog! The only risk you’re taking is to make the blog owner weep for joy!! 😭🤣

Yup. ipve been getting a buzz from a dear friend who is reading through my work now and commenting on each chapter. It never gets old to receive a review, even on a story that is years old. and it really requires very little effort on the part of the reader. But it is one of those things where probably 5% of people bother to give anything back as a thank you for the entertainment they receive.
Golden Rules for Fanfiction Readers:
if the fic already has a thousand comments, comment still. Your comment will still matter and delight the author.
if a fic is a decade old and the author hasn’t been active in the last five years, comment still. There will come a time when the author will read and cherish your comment, or maybe it will motivate them enough to start writing again. You never know!
if the author never responds to comments, comment still. Interaction with the author is a very nice bonus, but you can be sure that even if the author doesn’t answer, they will read it and enjoy it at some point
there’s no such thing as a too long comment.
there’s no such thing as a too incoherent comment.
the author will give no flying fuck about any gramatical errors, typo or other misspellings. If you’re a non-native speaker struggling to express themselves, you can be sure the author will be all the more pleased that you surmounted the language barrier to let them know you appreciated their work. Don’t be afraid!
there’s no such thing as commenting too often.
you will never, ever come across as creepy by obsessing over a fic or an author to the point where you worry the author might think you’re a stalker. On the contrary, the author will be delighted by your investment in their work.
say thank you. It’s always appreciated to see readers acknowledge the work and commitment that is put into writing.
the floaty review box (ao3 add-on) is your friend
be positive and encouraging. Positive reviews make writers all warm and glowy from the inside, bashing plunge their soul into icy darkness. You want the first, not the second!
whoever you are, if you read their fic, YOU are IMPORTANT to the author. Let them know you’re there!
(if any author wants to contradict one of those rules, please let me know!)

I always have author's notes.I like to ask the readers their opinion on certain things, and I also talk about research I have done. If there are scenes or conversations within a chapter/story that reference another story (or stories) in my series, I will also note that.
some people like to comment by responding to my questions and others will just comment based on what they enjoyed most in the chapter, especially if they have followed my characters for a long time.
I have been blessed to have several long-standing readers of my Sherlolly stories who also leave reviews, but I have also developed personal relationships with these people outside of fanfiction and that is even more meaningful to me. There are friends I have who used to read my work and have moved away from it, but we are still friends. when I read other people's author's notes, I am always fascinated when they include their thoughts on something they have researched, and I am someone who will always leave feedback because I recognize what an encouragement it is. I don't think you would find anyone out there who does not love to hear from their readers.
Hello, this is more something I want to open up for discussion, but do you think author's notes help readers comment? I personally don't mind author's notes as long as it's easy to distinguish and not in the middle of the chapter. I actually think they make authors feel more approachable, but I've recently seen people say author's notes are annoying, and I feel like less authors leave them in general lately. So I'm wondering if that's something that changed through the years as well.
Oh that's a great question @thinkingheron . I am very much not dialled in with current fandom culture, so if anyone has any insights into this, please feel free to share!

These sound great!
Sherlolly Appreciation Week 2022
A small sample of my wip:
Day 1: “It wasn’t working for me.”
The difficulty in seeing small details was the first sign to Sherlock Holmes of advancing age, but he does not want to accept the need for corrective lenses. It will be up to his wife, Molly Holmes, to convince him that there is no reason for such resistance and worry.
Day 2: “Well, we all do silly things.”
A small client moves the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, who, in the company of his girlfriend, Molly Hooper, accepts the challenge of discovering Amora's whereabouts.
Day 3: “What I’m trying to say is that, if there’s anything I can do, anything you need, anything at all, you can have me.”
Young Sherlock Holmes is experiencing sensations he has never experienced before as he suffers with a bully at school. It is up to young Molly Hooper to help her classmates, and make her new friend understand his own feelings.
Day 4: “What was today about?”
Sherlock and Molly are celebrating their first wedding anniversary. She thinks her husband has forgotten, since he doesn't mention anything when they wake up, but she still pampers him all day long anyway.
Day 5: “Urinating in wardrobes, bad.”
There's a new resident on Baker Street. The little one promises to shake up the routine of Sherlock and Molly Holmes and put an end to the possibility of the detective getting bored once and for all.
Day 6: “I’m stressed, you’re dying.”
This is the story with the most angst of all. I will not give details. Sorry, not sorry.
Day 7: “Please don’t do this.”
After a tiring day, Sherlock and Molly Holmes decide to take a bath and I will let my imagination run free! :D
So, anyone interested in reading? Coming soon on Wattpad and AO3!

This is exactly the beginning of my WIP "The Addict and the Christian", on fanfiction.net. But my stories typically have strong themes of faith (and forgiveness is a big part of being a Christian), so only read it if you are open to knowing more about Christianity.
Is there a fanfic where Molly assumes that Sherlock's "i love you" is not true and easily forgives him but their relationship becomes rocky or distant? Molly just accepts it but Sherlock is having difficulty with it or wants to voice out his feelings but Moly dissuades him.
It seems like plenty of post TFP fics have that sort of theme but damned if I can think of any right now. Can anyone help?
I do know there are more than a few fics where Molly ends up leaving London, and they're marked on the PTFP page of the Sherlollbrary as "Molly Goes". One of those might be what you're looking for!

So true. How many people have quit writing because people never bothered to even offer one word of encouragement? I know I value the readers who have faithfully responded to my stories. They are awesome!
Behind every fanfic update, there is a writer being turned into THIS as they await your reactions

If you see this on your dash, please re-blog it so others are warned about this person.
Plagiarism/stealing
I received a gust review on one of my stories this evening. I thank that guest reviewer for alerting me to the fact that someone has stolen entire sections of my "A Honeymoon Journey", just changed the names.
This person apparently didn't do the greatest job though because they forgot to change the name of Sherlock at one point and there was a comment from somebody calling them out on it.
I would just like to make other writers aware of the identity of this person. The story has been reported and I hope that they are banned from the site for plagiarism/stealing.
They did write my name to give me partial credit, but I suspect that was only done after they were called out. I received no request (nor would I have given my permission for someone to use my hard work to just change the names for their own story!)
I want to warn people about this writer/thief. Who knows how often they steal the intellectual property of others to receive glory for it themselves?
Username is: ydugugu
Plagiarism is NEVER okay, but this is even worse because this person basically just copy/pasted entire chunks and changed the character names. I am thoroughly disgusted and disappointed that there are people out there like this.

Amen!
Hebrews 4:13
"He knows about everyone, everywhere. Everything about us is bare and wide open to the all-seeing eyes of our living God; nothing can be hidden from Him to whom we must explain all that we have done."
Please don't make the mistake of thinking you can hide anything from God. Repent, get right, now, while there is still time.

I haven't abandoned it! I promise tomreturn. Just little time to read. And you know I have not been writing either. But I too have had many people start reading and then abandon my long story due to its length. It is disappointing, because I know how the action and return of characters imporve the story later, even as my writing improved. Unfortunately, a lot of people don’t have patience to read the long stories, even when there's plenty of romance. For many the thrill is in the angst and uncertainty that leads to the declaraton of love near the end. My HEA stories have never generated much interest because of the themes of faith and the continuation of the journey for my Sherlock and Molly. Don’t be discouraged, you are a really good writer!
I'm a little sad because the readers are abandoning my long fanfic, and it's always in the same chapter... I think it might be because it's a part where people are sure there is no romance in this story. But if there was any, I would have warned in the synopsis and in the tags... this is so discouraging...

Yep, this is definitely a Sherlock kind of thing. He's a smart man, once he stops being oblivious!
How Sherlock confessed his love for Molly
Molly: Sherlock, there's something I've been wanting to say, but before I do, I just... I want you to know you don't have to say it back. I know you're not ready and I don't want you to say it just because social convention dictates -
Sherlock: I love you, too.
Molly (gaping): You said it.
Sherlock: There's no denying that I have feelings for you that can't be explained in any other way.
Molly (still gaping): ...
Sherlock: I briefly considered that I had a brain parasite, but that seems even more far-fetched. The only conclusion was love.
