There had been a point some time ago that Lucifer would have died on the hill that there was only one way to spend a rainy day – in bed. Whether it be taking naps, watching movies, reading, lounging . . . if there were ever an excuse for a lazy day, it would be a day like this.

Nowadays . . . well, he'd run out of excuses for his 'lazy days' a loooong time ago. Relaxation was a thing of the past; and, really, when you spend your days rotting in bed, is it truly relaxation or avoiding the problem ?

Giving himself any amount of time off felt a hair too much like defeat. Like regression. Like falling into old, bad habits, ones that he'd just now started to feel like he was escaping the claws of.

Lilith always knew how to make him relax, whether he liked it or not. The rain beating against the rooftop, hard against the windows, his lover's body draped overtop of his . . . there was so much comfort and warmth to be found here, he could cry. Or fall asleep. Or both. He'd missed it so much, missed her so much. Coaxing him into lying down hadn't been very difficult at all, as much as he refused to take a breather these days.

His body arches sharply as a sharpened claw traces its way up his bare side, a puff of air escaping his lips, and suddenly he's no longer considering crying or napping. Sure, they'd been together for centuries – you'd think he'd be used to this by now, her touch, but after having gone so long without it he felt sensitive all over again, like he had twice the nerve endings as anyone else. Goosebumps prickle up and down his body, pleasantly, and he shudders with the sensation.

The bite is a total juxtaposition to her prior gentle touch. He knows without looking that her fangs have sunk in deep enough to pierce skin and it draws forth a deep moan, surprised, sharp and loud in the relative quiet of the room. Fuck, he loves that she can still take him off guard. Take him to pieces.

❝ Lily. ❞ Her name is breathed more than its spoken, like it's something sacred, a hand reaching up to tangle itself in her hair. He arches against her again in one fluid moment, his tail flickflicking before wrapping itself around her leg . . . and tugging impishly at the hem of her nightgown. Hey, he's already bare, it's only fair if she joins.
