The reason I can tolerate Sonichu more than any "romance" top comic on Webtoons is that nobody will ever be influenced by Sonichu. It simply won't happen.

I will do an essay on how bad the misogyny is in Sonichu when I have the time. I'll do it in several posts to divide my thoughts properly.

The first part is going to be about Rosechu herself and trust me I am going to rant about how she's pink and not orange as she should.

Who do you think has the best design in the comic? I like Bubbles and Megtune, they have nice color palettes

Imo, if we're talking about Chris's own creations, it's Bubbles and by a long shot.

I have no clue what kind of marker was used when coloring her, but that blue is so pretty! The white complements it very well too, but the nice palette is mostly because it's pulled from the Pokémon Marill, so... If you copy from literal perfection, you're going to get at least a decent result. Take away the tail and make Bubbles resemble any animal that isn't a hedgehog and you got yourself a nice Sonic OC with water magic.

I don't really vibe with the human characters, tbh, the only thing I remember from Megtune is that sick obsession Chris has with showing her underwear, it's gross. As for her design, I think it would go better withou the pink, since the green and blue already looked fine together. Megagi tho, she looks great, but it's not Chris's character, no matter how much she whines about it.

And Sonichu is just iconic at this point. He's THE character that comes first in my mind when someone mentions fan characters. The perfect fusion for a parody that never was.

Anyways, I'm sure that this wasn't done on purpose, Magi ends up in Cerulean Cave because that's were Mewtwo used to live, so it's just a coincidence. It still very funny tho, a shame that PotO actually ends this relationship in a more healthy way. Enjoy my work.

I adore how the Sonichu species is a blatant Pikachu hybrid, but it's evolution process is a more convoluted version of Eevee's. Stones, friendship, held items and trading as a plus.

I'm not shaming it thou, it sounds extremely fun to do and some of those evolutions are sick! Like giving a flute, one of the most obscure items, to evolve a Pokémon to a musical form, like Jamsta? That's funky, I like it.

Its not discussed enough how Sonichu, Rosechu, and Blachu were originally stand-ins for Chris, Sarah, and Wes but none of that is in the actual comic

I've honestly never heard of that, but it does not surprise me at all. It's almost the same dynamic, nice heroic Sonichu/Chris, sweet faithful Rosechu/Sarah and despicable selfish Blake/Wes.

People probably don't give it so much attention because Chris was very quick to make herself, Sarah and Wes into canon characters to worship the first two and curse the latter, wich is much weirder than "just" making Sonic OCs for them.

And it's not in the comic maybe because Chris didn't like to imply that Rosechu liked Blake/Wes in any way, or she simply wasn't satisfied without namedropping her "rival's" name.

Oh, sorry, my native language isn't English, so I assumed "run" meant "issue", lmao. Ansewring to the first question, it does pass the Bechdel test, but I bet it's only for 3 dialogues max. The girls in this comic (except Chris) are very much handbags for the guys and not much else.

I'm happy you're enjoying this blog! I made it more to vent than anything else, really. I guess that it's different because I'm far more interested in the comic itself rather than Chris's life and not the other way around. I like to study her thought process when writing stuff, it really shows how, despite not being creative at all, she still has a unique way of understanding and portraying the things she want. IDK if I explained myself well here, I'm planning on writing something about Sonichu VS AI at some point.

I guess it's because he's a fighting type? But he really looks nothing like those two. But it's possible that the eyes were more inspired by Hitmonlee's rather than to be racsit. Or not. Who knows.

Does Sonichu pass the bechdel test in its original run

If by "original run" you mean issue 0,... Yes! It does pass the Bechdel test, because Kel and Rosechu do speak to eachother once about something that isn't guys related. And it might be the only time this happens between girl characters in the comic, wich is... Yeah.

This is your reminder that passing the Bechdel test doesn't mean that a piece of media isn't sexist.

I think it's Sonichu 0. It's the only issue that doesn't bore me at any point, it's iconic and even the Sub Episode is tolerable. The curseyehameha is pretty funny in that scene if you remove the original context. Honestly, the only part of this issue that deserves mockery (Imo and not counting the Sub Episode) is how Rosechu is treated. I'll probably make a post talking about misogyny in Sonichu at some point.

My favourite parts of the comic tend to be the ones where Chris Chan isn't there, so I also enjoy Sonichu 11. I know it's boring as shit to most people and I mostly agree it is, specially with the Banana thing, but I find it oddly sweet, how everyone is living happy lives despite the chaos and bloodshed of Sonichu 10.
