there's a post on here that's like "the worst thing a piece of fiction can be is mean", and while I agree with that, I think it being insincere is just as bad. nothing more obnoxious than a story that's constantly sneering and rolling its eyes at its own genre in a bid to seem clever and above it all.

honestly sometimes stories where characters have self awareness and solve their problems maturely can be really refreshing sometimes. and sometimes it feels like therapyspeak slop. intense stories where no one is capable of understanding themselves and act out in incorrect ways can be very fun. and sometimes it feels like contrived bullshit. whatever makes "a good story" is harder to make happen than just using the right kind of characters using the right words

less Found Family, more Forced Family Indoctrination
[ID: a three-panel colored comic. in Panel 1, a younger technoblade is hugged by wilbur and tommy. wilbur says “you’re officially part of our family now, you know what that means!~”, and tommy says “GROUP NAP TIME!!!”. in Panel 2, techno, wilbur and tommy are sprawled out on a bed. techno says “PHIL HELP ME THEY WON’T LET GO” and phil, walking away, says “oh, you’ll be fine.” techno replies “PHIL DONT LEAVE ME HERE”. the third panel is captioned “later”, and depicts phil laying a blanket over a sleeping techno, tommy, and wilbur. end ID.]

since arguments on wilbur and techno’s in-character ages are starting up again i’m revamping my opinion. wilbur is 24 but counts his 13 afterlife years towards his age and lords it over how old he guesses techno to be. techno could be either 21 or 2000 but he lost track after he started taking naps for 3 months at a time

based on a true story
[id: a simplistic two-panel comic over a white background. in the first panel, one person holds up a phone and says “check it out! techno uploaded!” another person says “yooo!” and the first person replies “let’s watch it before class!” the second panel is labeled “5 mins later” and shows the two people watching the phone in shock. end id]
