The day I returned home from the championships, the blood report was leaked to the press, alongside the results of a second test conducted while I was in Berlin. There it was. The things I did not know about my body. I found out, along with the rest of the world, that I did not have a uterus or fallopian tubes. The newspapers reported I had undescended testicles that were the source of my higher than normal levels of testosterone. They went on to call me a hermaphrodite. In my culture, this term does not apply to people like me, but the world media forced that label on me and that is what I am called to this day.

It was as if some kind of bomb had exploded … and the fallout just kept getting bigger and bigger. I couldn’t escape it. My face and story was plastered across television screens and newspapers all over the world. It was as if the entirety of humanity had discovered some kind of alien that had been living amongst them. I remember thinking: “Now what? Am I going to run again? OK, so this explains why I haven’t gotten a period. All right. If these people are saying I don’t have a womb, then this means I will never be able to carry a child. I want a family.”

I kept thinking: “This thing can never be undone.” The girl I had been before I got on that plane to Berlin – happy, joking, innocent, eager, hopeful – she’d been disappeared on the way back. And in these early days of my exile, there was nothing to put in that empty space. Imagine you are told one day that because of some medical this or that, you are actually not a woman. Think about it. In the eyes of the entire world, you are now something other than what you know yourself to be. And the entire world will not stop talking about you. Ever. Until the day you die, you will be the punchline of a joke about genitals or gender or sex or whatever.

Caster Semenya found out she was being gender tested when she showed up for the test, she thought it was a doping test. She found out the results - that she’s intersex - on the news with everyone else. She was 18 years old.

What they did to this woman is evil. She’s handled it with so much grace but she shouldn’t have to. It’s so awful. I’m never going to stop being mad about this.

Today's bird of the day

It's a Willy wagtail!

They are jerks, picking fights with bigger birds and not shutting up last night as it chirped next to my window.

First nations myths believe the wagtail is an eavesdropper, liar and their that would tell the spirit of the dead if you spoke badly of it. It's song can be heard during the day and night, but are especially loud on nights with a full moon, just like last night.

However they build the most adorable nests that look like a nice and cosy bowl!

This adorable little guy is a butcher bird, a close relative to the Aussie magpie!

The name butcher bird derives from the way they kill and store their prey -> they impale their food like a kebab on thorns, tree forks and crevices !

Disabled people should be allowed to exist in public. Yes, I mean all disabled people.

That includes people with tic disorders.

That includes people who smell ‘bad’.

That includes people who can’t help being loud.

That includes people who move ‘strangely’.

That includes people with bulky mobility aids.

That includes people who drool.

That includes people who struggle with incontinence.

We all should get to exist, however that looks, and go out in public, use public transport, do activities outside our homes. And we should be allowed to do those things without being glared at or having ableist things said to us.

Witchcraft/Satanism/Paganism/Wicca

Witchcraft:

Witchcraft is an ancient practice use to aid life. Witchcraft is a solitary practice at heart and dosen’t automatically have a religion attached to it but you can add any religion you want to your practise like paganism, satanism, christianity, hinduism, wicca or any other religion if you choose.

Wicca:

Wicca is a neo-pagan religion created by Gerald Gardener in 1954. Wicca is a nature based religion that worships as god and a goddess, the god is usually depicted as a horned god. Wicca includes the ideas of “black, white and grey magick” and most follow the Wiccan read, the rule of three and “harm none, do as thee will” or “do what you want as long as it dosen’t harm others.” All wiccans are witches as Wicca includes witchcraft in its practice but not all witches are wiccans. You don’t have do we wiccan or apart of any religion to practice witchcraft and are not any less of a witch.

Satanism:

Satanism is an atheistic religion who base their belifes on science and treating themselves and others who deserve it as their own god. Satanism is based of respect and being a good human being, to treat everyone with kindness and respect, everyone has rights to abortion and medical help. Satanists do not worship Satan and most are atheists.

Paganism:

Paganism is an umbrella term for pre-christian religions and personal practices vary prom person to person. Some pagans worship the Norse gods, some the Hellinic or Kemetic pantheons and some mix pantheons. They worship and/or work with “the old gods.”
