I think when people became aware of the use of autotune in music production, they started to underestimate what the human voice was actually capable of and assuming that the vocal feats of pop stars who naturally have a really good range and use autotune only to like, standardize notes rather than totally correct them, make people overestimate the machine presence within music and I think AI art is a kind of similar phenomenon where what you see, sort of like average production of a conglomerate of many different artistic achievements, which are all assimilated and regurgitated by The Machine and people assume that this machine is just capable of creating art wholesale when that’s not really true every single thing that you see is like produced by a human hand at one point and has just been reassembled, chopped up and pasted back together. obviously more heavy handed than most autotune but still relies on the human element. anyway so people continue losing confidence in human ability to produce art and keep fueling this false belief in the machine ability to create when it just kinda can’t
