DUNHUANG CO-STELLA-TION

The project 'DUNHUANG CO-STELLA-TION' from China pivillion is inspired by the cave in the Mogao Grottoes, which is known as a cultural melting pot—merging Greek figures, Persian patterns, Indian deities, and Chinese aesthetics all within a single cosmic dome.
Instead of treating star constellations as fixed visuals, they explored topological relationships — focusing on how different cultural elements connect, overlap in space, regardless of their origin.
This topological thinking really aligns with our project. They see culture as a system of interlinked nodes rather than isolated icons. It gives us a way to structure multi-cultural mythologies and star systems not just by similarity, but by their relational dynamics.
