The portrait of HSH Princess Charlene, painted in 2013 by Madame Stéphanie Van Zyl – present on this occasion – is a framed gouache on white paper. ( portrait on loan from Palace )

On Monday, June 2, 2025, Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene unveiled two portraits in the Wedding Hall, in the presence of Mr. Georges Marsan, Mayor of Monaco. These works depict HSH Princess Charlene and Princess Grace, and complement the series of princely portraits already on display in this symbolic space, including those of Prince Charles III, Prince Albert I, Prince Louis II, Prince Rainier III, and HSH Prince Albert II.
The Salle des Mariages is the only room in the Town Hall to have kept its original brown, red and gold décor, which dates from 1902. This architectural ensemble, typical of the early 20th century with its classical and renaissance influences, boasts a magnificent coffered ceiling, wood panelling embellished with gold leaf, and a neo-renaissance fireplace.
The public will be able to see the newly added portraits on European Heritage Day, to be held in the Principality on Sunday 5 October. 2025

This guide invites you to step into her sun-kissed world: from beachside moments in vintage bikinis to sunset strolls near the lighthouse, discover how to recreate Grace’s effortlessly glamorous Newport summer. We’ll take you through the places she stayed, the experiences she loved, and the timeless charm that continues to make Newport the ultimate East Coast escape.
Ready to plan your very own Princess Grace summer? Let’s begin : Before she became Princess of Monaco, Grace Kelly was the queen of the screen, known for her poised beauty and effortless style. In High Society, she played the chic socialite Tracy Lord, and Newport—with its jazz-age legacy and opulent mansions—was the perfect backdrop. Grace stayed at Castle Hill Inn during filming, and the inn remains one of the most iconic destinations in Newport today.
From wandering the wildflower-lined trails of the property to slipping down to the private beach in a high-waisted bikini and silk headscarf, Grace lived the kind of seaside summer we still dream of. Locals recall her enjoying quiet moments reading by the lighthouse and dining under the stars. It’s this mix of intimacy and splendor that makes a Princess Grace-inspired summer so unforgettable.

Castle Hill Inn: A Seaside Sanctuary
Built in 1875, Castle Hill Inn is the crown jewel of Newport’s rugged coastline. Set on 40 acres with sweeping views of Narragansett Bay, the inn blends refined luxury with natural beauty—just like Grace did.Stay in one of the Harbor Houses—famously known as one of Grace Kelly’s favorite hideaways during the filming of High Society—and you’ll instantly understand their enduring appeal.

Want to channel Grace Kelly’s spirit on your Newport getaway? Here’s how to live your most elegant summer yet:
Stroll the Cliff Walk – Trace Newport’s legendary shoreline with the same grace as Tracy Lord herself. Flowing sundress optional—but encouraged.
Tour the Mansions – Explore The Breakers and Rosecliff for a peek into the world of Gilded Age grandeur. These are the backdrops that shaped Newport’s elite—and inspired High Society’s lavish style.
Sail at Sunset – Book a private charter and sip Champagne on the bay. Grace loved the ocean, and there’s no better way to experience Newport’s maritime magic.
Dine Like Royalty – Try the chef's tasting menu at Aurelia, Castle Hill’s fine dining restaurant where every course is a celebration of seasonal New England fare. For dessert? A nod to Grace: lemon tart with a touch of lavender.
Sunset at Castle Hill Lighthouse – End your day where Grace often found hers: at the edge of the world, watching the sun sink behind the horizon in golden silence.
Grace Kelly may have brought a spotlight to Newport, but its allure goes far beyond the silver screen. It’s a place where history mingles with modern luxury, where salt air and seersucker coexist with jazz and oysters. There’s a rhythm to Newport summers—slow, romantic, impossibly stylish—that lingers long after Labor Day.
Whether you’re retracing Grace’s footsteps or writing your own seaside story, Newport offers a timeless kind of escape. One filled with charm, grace, and just the right amount of sparkle.

graciemonaco; This reads as a travel brochure for Newport as it truly is a fantastic summer destination. Grace Kelly also visited there in summer of 1955 when she attended the renowned Breaker's Ball. Glamour article states she stayed there in summer of 1956 but she married Prince Rainier in April 1956 so they have incorrect date. The movie "High Society" was filmed in Newport, Rhode Island in 1956. Filming dates for entire film were Jan 18 to March 6, 1956. While the film's story is set in Newport, many scenes were filmed on an MGM set ,in California. However Grace Kelly did stay at Castle Inn (according to Newport Historical Society ) during the days she filmed there. But it was not in the summer of 1956 as claimed by Glamour. Just setting the record straight......

Apr 11, 2025 : A pair of earrings nearly identical to those gifted to Princess Grace for her wedding to Prince Rainier in 1956 are heading to auction.
Van Cleef and Arpels replicated the earrings from their lavish parure of diamonds and pearls commissioned by Prince Rainier and gifted to Princess Grace on the occasion of their 1956 wedding.

There are also replicas made by the Clarion Pell Princess Grace Collection . The collection has ceased production but the earrings are often available on various online auctions. Of course they are not real pearls or diamonds but they are a nice choice for someone trying to add a classic touch to their jewellery collection.

graciemonaco: Of note: Final auction bid for the earrings at auction was £75,600 ( including buyers premium ) . Also , although these earrings were favourites of Princess Grace ,on her actual wedding day she wore more delicate pearl drops, as evidenced in photo below....just to set the record straight.
