Rationale
For the second project we had to create an animation of our typeface, two gifs and vids all from the timeline tab on which you can find on windows. They had to be 1080x1080, the gif must be 15s or more and same goes for the video but change the frame rate to 24fps. We used the same typeface that we used for the first project. At first, I thought it was quite easy at first, the gif was not that difficult only problem was that some of the frames you would have kind of manually move them because tweening won’t do everything. There's only so much it can do. Not going to lie, I don’t remember doing any work throughout the holidays, so it was a struggle coming back it. Especially the video timeline, I spent time watching all the video tutorials that the lecture uploaded on canvas. It is a helpful tutorial. I Picked up many skills and techniques. For the first mp4 I learnt the technique of clip masking. This setting allows us to see the frame before and after. Mask the layer, holds the option key and click on the layer. So basically, I put letters in shapes, this transition helps to reveal the overall content. One thing that stood out to me for the first mp4 was the textured background that I added in. I messed around with the blending mode to see what fits; I didn’t want the color to change, I wanted it to blend in without any loss of tone and texture. I have used this technique for my second mp4. Command + E is to merge the layer, and to duplicate the layer is Command + J. All of this is saving me a lot of time. For the second mp4 I basically did the same thing, duplicate layers and rearrange them, for example the numbers, they appear on circle. Another technique that I have learned from canvas is 'wipes'. Having a slot of words can build tension and nice clean transition is to add wipes. I learnt a lot through these past few weeks and all I can say is that m grateful for the opportunity. I struggled a bit, but I was able to overcome it by watching the tutorials. I will keep exploring the animation technique and improve my skills for my future project.

Reflection
The typeface I work with for this project is 'Titillium Web'. The color for this project was pretty, much black and white, nothing big but then I recently played around with colors which I know are random. For example, the two gifs I created are only black and white. I wanted to link to the first project I made which was the booklet, it had two colors (Black and white). And for the two videos I added blue and got rid of the black. I like the contrast of blue with white. For the first gif I made, I i wanted to show the upper case of the typeface, along with different symbols like the glyphs. I repeated the text and separated it (dramatic exit). Unfortunately, I could not get any feedback because I never got to submit my formative. I've added in a little sentence that shows what the typeface is about and who created it. I also added a little icon that I made for my first project, a space man. The aesthetic I was going for was space, sci-fi feel. I have added text saying, "16 weights", pretty much shows different weights of the typeface for extra light to extra bold. The first gif is pretty much inspired by my type specimen book. For the second gif, displays numbers with different weights. The difference between the second gif and the first gif is that the first gif shows more letterforms. In comparison to the second gif shows more numbers and glyphs. I added a sentence saying "A typeface story" with a little quote that I copied off my type specimen booklet. With the quote added I explored different weights. Furthermore, I also added more glyphs, just simply changing one glyph to another. It was difficult and time consuming having to move and duplicate the text.
For the video timeline I kind of struggled a bit, just trying to find inspiration and motivation to even start it was a mission. In the end we ended finishing both videos, so I am happy. For the first video timeline I made, it pretty shows the uppercase of the typeface, i went and put individuals' letters which spell "Titillium" and put them frame by frame, so basically, I split the text and change the letter. I also watched the tutorial on canvas in week 10. I used masking, Clipping mask and wipes techniques for this mp4. I wanted the first video to be about the letters of the alphabet and exploring its different weights. I also went ahead and added a textured background that I recently made in my class. It went well with the color. Another important aspect I forgot to mention is that I added color for both my videos, the reason being that I wanted to see what it would look like if added color and it turned out great. At first, I did not understand the function of the video timeline, how it works and doing it does improperly. So, I try to watch all the videos about the basic skills of video timelines on YouTube or Aut canvas. The content of this mp4 is to show the letters and key points of the typeface. For the second mp4, it mainly displays the glyphs and numbers of my typeface. I kind of ran out of ideas but in the end, I managed to finish. The first part shows the different glyphs and then transitions to a shape which spells out the word "numbers". I also added more shapes like the eclipse and repeated, 3x3. And in these shapes, I added in the numbers from 1 to 9. The idea of this was to swap the numbers, it took a while getting used too. I'm not very fond of the video timeline. I feel like I'm better using the frame timeline than the video one. But overall, I am very proud of myself.

Final Vid #2
I didn't want to add everything on, i wanted to rearrange the alphabets and the numbers and glyphs. The first vid I made is mainly about the the typeface and the letter forms with different weights whereas this last vid is about the glyphs and numbers.

Final Vid #1
This may seem random but I added a colour, reason being because I wanted to see what it would look like with colour. This is my first final vid that I will be submitting, I'm happy with the result I know I can do better on the next one (second final vid).

I also added in a textured background that I recently created while I was in class. I wanted to show how it would be used for my typeface animation which went pretty smoothly, Im happy with the overall result.

WEEK 11: My 2 gifs
First - 160 frames in total
This is just a draft I feel I want to add more. maybe experiment with colour and different backgrounds. Over all Im satisfied with the final result.
2. Second - 194 frames in total
I probable made an error on this one, if I can remember correctly you are not suppose to manipulate the text. To me I like the way it looks the transition is so clean.

WEEK 10
Same as the zooming text I used the fading the effect on the clips. Nothing too crazy just the idea is what matters most.

WEEK 10
Next up we have this zooming effect, by using transform to scale up the text I've added in a fade. Instead of using the opacity and key framing it, it is easier to drag the fade effect, which I think is more convenient and efficient.

WEEK 10
For this part we had to mask the textured bg into the text, this can be done by using the clipping mask. The blue effect is from the gradient effect which can be found in adjustments.

WEEK 10: Refinements + Reworking
By using the timeline we had to create a textured background. By using the transform aspect, we had rearrange the position and scale of the different backgrounds provided in the week 10 zip file. We also had to blend them together, and so this is the result.

WEEK 9: Typewriter - Concept
I watched a short clip on how to create this seemingly typewriter effect on the week 9 canvas. Just playing around with the position of the text and adding some transitions.

WEEK 8: Draft/concept
Just playing around with the position of the letters. Placing the letters in different directions, this skill will develop further once I fully understand the fundamentals.

WEEK 8: SDL Animation 1
With this animation, i wanted to introduce the font (Titillium Web) and tell a little bit about it. the skills that we learnt in class helped me to develop this animation. I worked with adding more frames instead of adding loads of layers. this was helpful and worked to my advantage which I am grateful for.
I like the different movements and the movement of the reverse with the title font Titillium. I also believe that the direction of the information about the font is helping to add dimension.

WEEK 8: Notes
command e = merge
command j = duplicate
command t = scale and size
command g = grouping layers
selecting all layers without background on timeline then turning on background layer gives them a background
selecting layers duplicating, pressing the hamburger then reverse reverses the animation
