Design reflection

Overall, In the last half of the first semester, I really enjoyed playing around with Adobe After Effects and creating these animations. I enjoyed my assigned speech and I felt like the theme I had behind my animation was good, however I felt like I could of expressed the theme more in depth with some animation, however the text was so quick it was quite difficult to add more animation in without is taking away from the speech. I like the use of font and colours, they all contrast against each other making it easy to read and aesthetically pleasing. I really like the way I timed the effects and the effects I used were quite effective with my audio.

I created a transcript storyboard to kind of indicate where everything will be, i also added a colour pallet and explored some fonts to see which ones i want to use for the project. 

I like this middle text styled design, so ill keep that as my design system through out the animation so it has consistency. I chose the red, beige and black colour pallet together with futura pt as a font.

Audio

Looking for audio snippets for my animation i came across this clapping effect from freesound.org – KelliesKitchen  from December 8th, 2013. I didn't want to use music as I felt like that would interrupt the speech so I felt like this was the best choice as it fits right into the main audio.

Progressing to the final stages, i wanted to make the credits resemble movie credits with a twist so I made a movie credit styled credit.

Getting towards the end of my animation, I used the puppet tool to create a art bush being used effect and text on a path to simulate the word dancing to create an effect like the type is dancing.

I created this spinning globe to add into the animation.

I decided to continue on the animation by using a fade in styled animation that follows the voice of he actor, when the word is said the word will pop up, instead of the sentence being there already before Taika says the speech to give it more authenticity.

While I was working on the animation i decided to create a cheering styled animation for the applause of the audience. I felt like this will create a connection between the audience and the main speaker Taika Waititi

Kenetic animation progress

We started to dive into the process of creating my animation, as i wanted to to the Jojo Rabbit inspired theme i added this styled background to represent the cover for the movie. I added a fade in and out styled animation on the background and text sing the transform options such as position and opacity.

Story board

I created this story board to plan out my kinetic animation, since my audio file is a speech from the Oscars i wanted to ensure the type is readable and only in small sentences on the screen as that's how it speech would of been heard by the audience. I got inspired by the JoJo Rabbit movie for inspiration on colours so i decided to go for a red, black and beige look. I'm unsure how ill execute this yet but we will dive further into it
