Essay Final and Reflection
I proofread my essay a few times before submitting it. I checked for plagiarism, getting 0%.
I enjoyed writing, as it is one my passions. However, I did feel limited by the structure and word limit. Originally, I was 1000 words over, and received positive feedback on my writing, but was suggested to keep to structure and word count, as it is essential for this submission.
I got there eventually, but I wish we could have unlimited words and could choose the structure we want.
The main section I struggled with was the Creative Communities. This is because I know creative individuals, but communities, especially around New Zealand, were more or less new to me. Knowing abut many successful agencies here, I will be proud to enter the industry over the next few years.

Poster Final and Reflection
Tumblr media
This is the final poster I am submitting.
The main element here is the Mandala, created from 19 objects that describe me as a creative.
The 20th element is a pine cone, that is used as the background.
The elements are labeled using handwritten numbers and arrows, adding a hands-on feel, and reflect my personal connection to the poster.
The title is also handwritten for the same reason. The title is the second part of my essay's title, connecting the two.
I have chosen blue and purple as the main colours because I use these colors often in my work, and because colour theory suggests they connect to psychic abilities and knowledge.
The process of creating the poster was pretty straightforward to me. I came up with an idea and kept developing it, making things work the way I want them to. I enjoyed this task because it enabled me to work with myself, and used this opportunity to show who I really am.
Expressing my spirituality was challenging at first, because although it is a huge part of my life, I don't really share it with anyone, rather with people who are into the same thing or are close to me. At first, I felt exposed. I think it was a valuable experience to be able to bravely state who I am as a creative.

Poster Labled - PreFinal
Tumblr media
I decided to lable it by hand. It matches my hand written style, and matches the concept of my Mandala.

Poster Finalising
Tumblr media
I have attempted to add lables, but I did not like how they look.
However, when I printed it out, I realised I can make the type size smaller, because I printed on A3 paper, and the real thing is going to be A2.
This will allow a bit of space for the lables.

My Images
Some of images will not load into Tumblr because of copyright.
However, I am using 19 Figures in my essay. They are cited in the format:
Figure 1: Author Name (year), Name of Artwork
My images present the work of other creatives and communities, and then my work that is relevant to the topic.

Essay Final Developments
I put my essay through Grammarly, and had 1% plagarism, with an anrticle I did not use
I was grateful for the app taking out around 150 words for, and I was within the word count
I then reread everything and made several changes so that I like how it sounds. Although Grammarly is very useful, it takes out my voice and replaces it with a neutral one. I cannot write without my own tone and personality, so I added it back in
Next, I went through my references and uploaded them to Word, which help me reference correctly. After changing these, I made a reference list, correctly

Week 11 Lecture
This weeks class was a workshop where we worked on all our projects. We were reminded of the tasks requirements, deadline and brief.
After I finish my essay, I will definitely check it against the brief, although I always had trouble understanding the rubrics clearly.

Poster Iterations
Tumblr media
I have:
Changed the font to Geograph, pt size 9. In my essay, I mention my interest in Klim Type Foundry, so I think it is appropriate to have my font in the poster to be by Klim
Made the name of my objects stand out, in bold
Gave each object its own text box
Now:
I need to reshuffle the text, maybe make it wider
Arrange in a harmonious way
Add lables
Name and Title?

Complete Draft of Essay
Feedback:
Everything is written well, clearly and it is interesting to read
If the audience is new to my topic and theme, they may feel lost. Interest sparks when I relate it to myself or the designers mentioned
Less context, more description
Keep to the word count
Do not merge two sections, follow the structure
Add references and citations
I don't need to rewrite all of it, rather, rearrange it
Don't say in Section 6 that I hav not decided my future yet, rather say where you might want to go and link it back to theme

Poster Development
Tumblr media
I have:
Made the background lighter. I like it - its light enough for the rest of the composition to work, but the pine cone element is still seen
Changed the Mandala slightly, by making the elements in the middle bigger
Made the Angel figures more visible by using auto tone in Photoshop
Made the brooch stand out a bit more as well
Added the inventory items
Made the type purple, Proxima Nova Regular, pt 8 size. I chose this font because a sans serif font is appropriate - clean and tidy, modern, purple to match the Mandala
I think I have all the elements I need now, so I can keep iterating the layout until I am happy with it

Poster Reflection
To make changes on poster I am going to:
Add inventory list to experiment with it
Make the background lighter. If the pine cone cannot be seen with the low opacity, I will need to figure out a way to present this element
Play with the Mandala, change the sizing of some of the objects
