Week 1 - About Me
My name is Jake Bartz. I am a third-year student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I am originally from Sheboygan, Wisconsin which is about an hour north of Milwaukee. Over the past 4 years I’ve been a part of the US Army Reserves as a Motor Transport Operator. I joined with the goal of being able to fund my education. I started college as an architecture major but ended up switching to Design and Visual Communications in my 2nd year. I gained interest in the major when I took Art 118 and had the opportunity to play with programs like photoshop and illustrator. I have experience with the Adobe Suite, but I am always looking to expand on it to make myself better. After college, I hope to work in marketing or in a field where I am able to practice graphic design on a daily basis. I also hope that I can create my own content as an independent artist. I’m inspired by travel and spending time outdoors. Some of my best ideas are created when I am able to immerse myself in a new environment. I love spending time in the mountains and near the great lakes. When I travel, I spend a lot of my time drawing the landscape and taking pictures. I would love to get involved in wildlife conservation and awareness. Promoting the natural wonders of the United States. My main concern in our modern world is that within my lifetime we will lose these beautiful parts of our nation to the greed of large corporations looking to rape the land for their natural recourses. I would love to spread awareness of these issues through my work and encourage people to stand up to those who wish to destroy what makes our nation beautiful. Art has the ability to inspire others, and my hope is that I can encourage others to join the fight.
