“How horrid. The travel section is a gem,” replied Brook. He’s being sarcastic, of course, but he’s not trying to antagonize or mock the older guy. In fact, he was getting flooded with a few memories of professors who caught him messing around with some girls at library stacks. He wasn’t sure if this dude was one of those professors, but his face was familiar, so maybe. He felt kind of embarrassed by his irresponsible conduct. Good thing that was… uh, a year ago. He’d matured so much since then! “Maybe you can ask one of the staff members to fetch you the book you want from the travel section.”
Tumblr media
“I sense you don’t really mean that.” Despite the deadpan of his tone, Grant cracked a smile. He didn’t mind sarcasm. It was something that slipped into his daily conversations, often without being purposeful. This guy looked familiar, and Grant almost questioned if he’d had him in a class, but it wasn’t a very cool move for a professor to do so. Was it? Grant was far from a prude, but there were kids around this place. He’d had his share of trysts — in college. But there was no chance of kids stumbling upon him. “Oh nah, I don’t wanna scar one of them for it. I’ll just wait until they’ve cleared out. I mean, I know it happens, but there are kids in this store. And that’s just pretty messed up.”

"Fair warning — I would avoid the travel section if I were you. Unless you’re in the mood for a show. I know the library stacks are known for being a hook-up spot, but I thought I was safe here.” It had been a long day of dealing with students, and honestly, Grant just wasn’t in the mood for it. All he wanted to purchase a few books in peace. “If you do though, can’t say I didn’t warn ya.”

“had a guy tell me this morning that the ‘little green man’ milkshake tastes like toothpaste,” lela began, pencil bouncing between her fingers, eraser tapping against the pages of her notebook. “and now i’m having a really hard time getting that out of my mind, because i had never thought about it before.” her nose wrinkled as she said this, the association of the two disgusting to think about. “wondering if i should even test the theory to begin with and risk being horrified in the process.”
Tumblr media
“I mean, that’s not really ideal, but there’s worse things it could taste like.” Grant’s shoulders lifted into a playful shrug as he tried to offer a little consolation. “I’m guessing it must have mint in it. If you want a guinea pig to try it out, I’ll take the bullet so you don’t have to. Promise to be brutally honest.” Hazel eyes flickered curiously to her notebook. The teacher in him couldn’t resist. “What are you working on?”

OPEN STARTER. ↪ at the wild pony. ↪ for anyone ( @roswellstarters )
Tumblr media
“listen, the secret to a great drink is the ice cubes. not too icy or your drink will take forever to refresh but you also don’t want chunks of frozen slush watering it down. right? ” maisie points it out while stirring up her drink, making the cubes tinkle against the glass. “you know what would be the perfect solution? a perfectly clear giant ice cube.” she says with a proud smile. “aren’t i a genius? they should just hire me on the spot.”
Tumblr media
“Sounds like you’ve thought on this a lot.” Grant nodded approvingly, his eyebrows quirking in slight impress. “They should. I bet if you lead with that solution, they won’t even have to finish the interview.” He cracked a smile as he tipped his own glass back, letting the liquid burn down his throat. “So I gotta ask. If you aren’t a bartender, then what do you spend your time doing?”

“ black hole sun, won’t you come … ” absent-minded lyrics muffled in the sleeve of grayson’s jacket, until her head pokes upward at the sensation of eyes boring into her head. they rub at the markings of a ring-bound notebook newly scored into pale skin, vaguely irritated by the mild sting, earphone tumbling out of place. “what? me? yeah. fine. always fine.”
after twenty-one years in town, they’d think ‘i’m always fine’ would have made its point by now, but then again, their actions had always spoken otherwise.
Tumblr media
Grant wasn’t the type of person to just jump into anyone’s business, but he was concerned about the person that was hunched over and using their notebook as a pillow. His lips twitched into a smile when he got a response; relieved at least that they were okay.
“Just thought I would check. You know, you were snoring pretty loudly.” Not true at all, but he hoped if nothing else, to get a smile out of them.

“A couple of days back at school, one PTA meeting and I’m already turning to drink, this isn’t a good sign.” Skye reached for her second drink of the night, although she was already on the doubles, an exasperated sigh escaping her as she turned to her companion.
Tumblr media
“Sounds like a rough start. The first week is always the toughest though. I’m sure once you get back into the routine it will be like riding a bike.” Grant reached for his beer and brought the bottle to his lips for a sip. “What exactly went down at that PTA meeting? Now you have me curious.”

FC: John Krasinski
Hi loves! Here is my newest babe ! If you’d like to plot please like this post or send me a message !! He needs all the things !!
SOME TIDBITS (TW: mentions of cheating & divorce)
Born a southern boy in Franklin, Tennessee, Grant spent the majority of his life living on his family’s farm. From a young age he had a strong work ethic, from helping his family with the animals and crops.
Grant loved being around his family and living out in the country. The school he attended was fairly small, and most of the friends he made he went through all his years of school with.
Since he could remember, Grant had a deep love for history. He was blessed to have his grandparents around during his childhood, since they too lived in the area. One of his grandfathers was a war veteran, and would constantly tell him stories about his past. Grant loved listening to them, and historical fiction and non-fiction quickly became his favorite genres.
Grant is a laid-back, easy going guy. He always has been. In school he made good grades but also participated in basketball and football. Though he never felt he was career worthy, he enjoyed them and to this day still loves attending sporting events. He’d love to form an adult baseball league in Roswell.
Before he graduated high school, Grant knew he wanted to be a history teacher. He ensured that his grades were good enough for an academic scholarship at The University of Tennessee. He wanted to stay close to family and their land, even if over the years his grandparents had eventually passed on.
College was a wonderful time for Grant. He was great at juggling his classes and socializing. He was never a party animal, but knew how to have a good time. He decided that college was the age he preferred to teach, and continued through school to earn his Masters in History.
Grant went on to work as a professor at his Alma Mater, teaching US History. He loved the job, and it was there on campus that he met his future wife. He knew better than to tangle work and love together, but fell for the woman anyway.
After a few years of dating and falling in love, they decided to marry. For some time, Grant was the happiest he’d ever been. The idea of settling down and starting a family was something he’d always wanted. He was a bit of a hopeless romantic. Until one evening when he caught his wife in bed with another man. Not only did it break Grant’s heart, but it also broke his spirit.
Grant didn’t want to leave Tennessee. He felt it wasn’t fair that he not only had to say goodbye to his marriage, but also his family. He needed to get away from the people and gossip though. Everyone he’d ever known closely was well aware of the marriage fallout, and he could only handle so much pity. There was also no way he could face his ex-wife at work every day.
One of Grant’s college buddies lived in Roswell, and without any other ideas of where to go for a fresh start, it seemed like a good plan. After his divorce was finalized and he snagged a position as a History Professor at Eastern New Mexico University, Grant packed his bags and moved to Roswell.
He’s been there for about a year now, and though he enjoys the city well enough, it still doesn’t feel like home just yet.
Since his divorce, Grant has become more guarded when it comes to relationships. He’s afraid of getting hurt again.
Recently adopted two dogs from the local shelter; siblings, Teddy and Twinkie.
Grant is a kind, down-to-earth gentleman. He’s not as tight laced as that sounds, but he really is a sweetheart.
He goes back home on holiday breaks to visit his family.
CONNECTIONS:
Here are his connections/some ideas, but I’m open to others as well !!
