By Monday morning, Rose was exhausted. It had been a long time since she’d had to work so many days in a row, and she hated it.

Especially since Carmen hadn’t actually called in sick this weekend. Carmen just hadn’t come in. Or responded to texts or calls. 

Rose had a feeling she wouldn’t be seeing Carmen again. 

The usual Monday morning rush was hard. She was pretty sure her smile wavered a few times, the dark circles under her eyes visible. But nobody complained and she got everyone taken care of just a fraction slower than usual.

This does things to me...

simon would be the loudest neighbour.

you’d know he was home before you see him. the excessive door slamming, the drilling holes into walls at 11pm, the hum of his tv through the paper thin brick. there are even times when you hear the bellow of his laugh and the vibration of his words. you didn’t mind though, you never did. it always provided you with a sense of comfort and security whenever he was home — back from wherever he goes.

then there are times when you hear him. the grunts, the moans, the fucking slamming of his headboard. you quickly figured out that your beds were back to back, wall to wall. you never mean to listen in, but you can’t help it when your ears pick up the sound of him, and the occasional person he takes to his bed. it spins your mind off its axis, dazing you, leaving you feeling ashamed over the arousal that whirls through your body. but you just can’t fucking help it. you imagine what he looks like when he’s feeling himself, the tensing of his biceps as he comes to his sweet end, throwing his head back in euphoria. you also wonder if those he fucks are just unnecessarily loud, or if he is just that good.

and he knows you listen of course, because he hears you too.

Blame my wifey @writeforfandoms for this. She introduced me to this fandom and encouraged the plot bunnies. I will have two versions of this because I just couldn’t decide 100% who I wanted to cast Price, Ghost, and Gaz as for the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Soap is solid as he is, though. When Simon’s on leave, he spends it with you; never more than days at a time, but it’s the only place he prefers to go.

Before he heads back off on deployment, he always leaves behind something of his with you – his watch, his ID tags, his lighter – important keepsakes that he really shouldn’t part from, considering the value or usefulness they prove to him while out on the field. He’ll place the object, whatever it may be, in the center of your palm, guiding you to wrap your fingers around it.

(Keep it enclosed. Keep it safe here, with you.)

And Simon explains why: “I’m coming back for that.” This is the closest thing to a promise he’ll make. There are never guarantees about when he’ll return; after all, missions can go south – can run longer than intended if things don’t go according to plan. He won’t ever tell you a specific date, but you have his word that he’ll see you again.

So it becomes an expectation, then. Something to anticipate, to look forward to – you wonder what he’ll leave with you this time. He’ll swap each item for a new one; they seem to grow in significance with every visit.

Until one day, he doesn’t.

Simon’s taken his stuff back – per usual, except now he’s left you with nothing. It hurts, makes your chest ache. Maybe he won’t give you anything this time, but he always takes your heart with him. The exchange is unfair: he’s about to walk out of your door and your hand’s empty.

“Being posted in Al Mazrah,” he says, sliding the chain of tags into his pocket. “Can’t tell you much besides that.”

“You’re not coming back then?”

“What makes you say that?”

It feels almost embarrassing to speak up about. He doesn’t owe you any piece of himself. The words stick to the back of your throat. “You didn’t give me anything.”

He pauses, studying your face. “Thought it was obvious. I’m coming back for you.”

Love that Batman is just in the post credit scenes (as he should stay as this mysterious person) and doesn’t show up until way later

if i was in charge of resetting the dcu :

my first film would be a Superman origin story titled smallville, where we deal with teen Clark( 14/15 yrfreshman)ft lana lang coming into his powers and wondering who he is and why he has these powers. The villain would be Mr. Mxyzptlk who is finding amusement from torturing teen Clark who is so confused. This is strictly a coming of age movie for Clark and family friendly. The end credit scene would be Clark getting his suit and going to stop a car chase that somehow made it to smallville. Post credits we see Alfred calling for bruce (13yrs)while brucey finds the cave filled with bats

Next film: Justice Society WW2

Characters: Doctor Fate(surprise character), hour-man, doctor mid nite, Wildcat, black canary,hawkman flash(jay garrick), Wonder Woman and Steve( he doesn’t die)

obv punching hitler is a scene, we get Easter eggs of wayne enterprises helping the war effort, creation of Argus by u.s gov in the end, the plot is basically getting the spear of destiny away from Hitler before he can change reality and take over the world; that’s basically the jist of it. Post credit: hawkman runs into shayera who hasn’t realized who she is yet, but when they make eye contact she sees a flash of a memory

Third film: Black Canary and Green Arrow

told threw the lens of Dinah(mostly centered around her), takes place when she’s in her 20’s, she trains with Ted grant( wildcat, who’s mantle has been passed down in the family), Dinah is seen busting drug and ppl trafficking, while she is kicking bad guy asses and arrow comes thru, enter Oliver who is newer than her in the hero business trying to help her, he assumes she’s a damsel in distress and immediately is like” toxic man?”, main villain: some mob/crime lord/cartel guy, she realizes that after spending some time with Oliver he’s a himbo…. They go out on a date, and she gets an anonymous text asking to meet. End credit we see brucie in a bat suit with trunks(he’s trying things out), asking her these things and then hands her a file with WW and asks if she know where she is(we see the file under it labeled; the Superman), before he leaves he’s like watch ur man and we will be in touch.

Ur more than welcome to add feedback, i was just super bored and was thinking of things that could possibly happen with the dceu reset but also have some similarity with the comics. Cause let’s be honest most ppl who watch these films at least want some sort of comic accuracy.James Gunn hire me lol

I love this AU so much. Soulmates feeling their partner's pain has so much potential for angst and many many hurt feelings

Also the red string thing would be so cute

I just like the idea of Price’s soulmate au (here and here) where there are two dueling ideologies and it’s not clear which one’s right.

The first is where cultures/societies believe that everybody has a soulmate and that you either a) have met them or b) haven’t yet (and it is implied that there are a great deal of people who die never getting to meet theirs).

So when you answer documents, it’s:

Have you met your soulmate?

☐ Yes

☐ No

The second is more pragmatic – more black and white. Like if the whole concept is that you feel your soulmate’s pain in this au, then you should at some point, theoretically feel it during your lifetime; so people believe that you either have a soulmate (regardless of whether you’ve met them or not) or you just don’t have one at all. This one is a lot more popular for people who are older and have soulmates that don’t get themselves into situations with major injuries etc. as in Price’s line of work.

It’s also why when he enlists, he gets to the section in the questionnaire of possible things that can disqualify a person from joining the military (e.g. certain medical conditions, etc.) and he reaches the end:

Do you have a soulmate?

☐ Yes

☐ No

They don’t let you enlist if you do, because you can experience lots of things on the field which would then, by extension, also subject your soulmate to a great deal of pain.

But some people lie to get into the military; they select the second option if their background check holds no evidence of a marriage certificate, because pain is subjective – it’s easy enough for anyone to keep to themselves especially if there are no legal records. It’s mostly the ones who know they have a soulmate (i.e have felt their partner’s pain) but haven’t met them and think they’re never going to meet them anyway (a lot to do with freedom of choice too, probably).

And because Price’s soulmate never gets into trouble, hardly ever lands herself into situations where he’d feel her pain, he’s 99% sure about his answer when he checks that ‘no’ option but later finds out how 100% wrong he was.

This was actually one of my first times drawing long curly hair so it was fun to learn as I went. Also I just thought it'd be cute that (since her name's same) she sometimes wears flower crowns or similar accessories. And as a cute easter egg I added little pins to symbolize all the guys. Unfortunately couldn’t think of any for Alejandro and Rodolfo so I drew the Mexican flag... yeah original I know 😂

And I headcanon that Gaz, as the menace he is, would definitely wear a cap with a smiley on it because someone got it as a gag gift for him.

Oooh Pricey is up first in the singular POVs and who would've though he'd secretly be such a sly schemer. And I love how you've managed to get Price's voice sound different to Rose's.

I am cackling, and kicking my feet in glee because of the bar scene. Pure gold. Probably my favourite scene thus far

Some of my favourite lines (and yes, I have brought notes with me and they got a bit out of hand😂):

"Well. This is a right mess." Gaz sounded far too cheerful about it, too.

It indeed is Gaz and I feel as though it’s gonna go down hill from here. For a little bit until they realize they could just share

"So you’re gonna step back, then?"

Pfffft none of em want to back off. That’s hilarious and reminds me of an old western standoff where they all just squint and stare at each other waiting for the other to break

"Nothing saying we can't make it a bit of a competition."

Oh geez, I can hear the silence that preceded this line. And why can I envision the absolute chaos this competition will cause. Their attempts just (d)evolve into the most outrageous plans just to one up the others. But I'm sure their more sensible than that... right?

I also feel like the whole "no fucking each other over" thing is going to be forgotten at some point and then Price has to rein them all back in 😂

"Not much to discuss," he grumbled

Is this Ghost being absolutely confident in his skills to get Rose first but also him being incredibly vague and sneaky about his wording so his teammates wouldn’t catch onto his interest 👀

And love that Ghost was the "voice of reason" when he told the guys to let Rose choose and everyone just went "... but what if".

Alejandro probably could show everyone up at that table, just because he's such a charmer, and I feel like he'd be a perfect gentleman and a ladies' man

Remember I told you we are going to switch POVs? Yeah. We’re switching it up again, and every other chapter will be Rose (odds) or one of the guys (evens). 

This time, we get a chance to see what Price thinks of all this!

Price leaned back in his chair, pressing his fingers into his eyes until stars burst in the darkness of his vision. Then he sighed, rolling his neck to a few very satisfying pops. 

There were certain aspects of this new life that he didn’t like. Not that he’d give up on it, not now. Not after everything. 

Soft laughter caught his attention and he lifted his head, frowning. That was very much not one of his team, and he hadn’t been expecting any visitors. So who–?

“Cap! We’ve got goodies!” Gaz called.

Aw no Rose's friends cancelled their plans and I don’t think this is the first time considering her reaction 😢

All the guys should go give her a big ol' group hug to make her feel better😉

But in all seriousness I really love how you convey how upset she is with your words. It's that silent kind of suffering where she tries to carry on with her day and pretend everything's fine but really everything just sucks at the moment. Then there’s those constant reminders of how good everyone else seems to have it.

And then there’s the yearning for her sexy work neighbors that makes everything worse but also somehow better (??)

Rose was not going to cry. She refused. For one thing, she was still in the coffee shop. For another, it was completely illogical to cry. It made no sense and it wouldn’t help. 

She just had to get through this last hour and go home. Maybe she’d get some ice cream on the way. Ice cream always helped. 

Of course, it would also be helpful if nobody else came in until closing time, but alas.
