WEIRD TALES OF THE MACABRE #1-2 (Atlas Seaboard) 1975 .
Atlas infamously popped up with a ton of titles and flamed out quickly (due largely, it seems, to distribution issues). Despite being fondly remembered, most of their output was less than stellar. TALES was a part of their magazine line, and did feature some nifty stories in an EERIE/CREEPY vein.

Jim Aparo ADVENTURE COMICS covers featuring the Spectre.
For a brief time in the mid-70s, Aparo worked with writer Michael Fleisher on a series of ultra-violent Spectre stories that sparked some controversy, and ultimately helped lead to a multi-millionaire lawsuit by Fleisher against author Harlan Ellison and Gary Groth's THE COMICS JOURNAL.

FANTASTIC FEARS #6 (March 1954). Farrell Publications.
Pre-code horror covers didn't have to make any sense, so long as they were bizarre and creepy as hell. Just pure nightmare fuel.
With that in mind, this is a favorite. Artist unknown.

In the early fifties (1952-53), Fiction House combined sex and horror with a series of Maurice Whitman covers for GHOST COMICS.

HALLOWEEN! Another reminder that fifties pre-code horror comics were completely unhinged and that worrying about making any sense was an unnecessary complication.
(Check out the Digital Comic Museum for an amazing collection of public domain comics of the past)

WEB OF HORROR 1-3 (1969)
Published by Major Publications (best known for publishing CRACKED MAGAZINE), WEB OF HORROR featured a number of terrific artists, including Wayne Howard, Syd Shores and Ralph Reese, but might be most notable for publishing some of the earliest work by Bernie Wrightson, Mike Kaluta, Bruce Jones and Frank Brunner.
The influence of Al Williamson, Graham Ingels and Frank Frazetta on these young artists is particularly pronounced here.
