Do you ever find a video that you just adore? Maybe it’s so funny, you just have to watch it over and over again. Or it’s just touching enough to make to weep quietly to yourself in public. Today I found an excuse to watch this stellar little commercial in my classroom FOR CURRICULAR PURPOSES. (Also grateful that the project screen pictured hanging from one sad, spindly little chain did not hit anyone in the head when it fell from the sky. Though it did come close.)
It’s our Friday tradition to stop for milkshakes and these little pieces of wonderful. That’s right, deep fried mac and cheese bites. Are they good for you? Sure, why not. Are they tasty? Absolutely. Do they make the end of a long week even more amazing? They certainly do.
Face masks. Don’t you just feel so pampered when you’re slathering them onto your grimy face? It just feels like a little bit of luxury and a lot of self-care.
The other night, my dad, sister, and I went for a walk. Along the way we found a cute little park with, what turned out to be, a fantastic play structure. Now, please note that I am an adult and haven’t “played” like that in at least a decade but boy was it fun. A fancy teeter-totter (great for those core muscles people!) and I climbed to the top of something, got super terrified, and clung to it for a long time before eventually being coaxed downward. I felt like such a carefree kid!
Don’t you just love the smell of fresh air? Today it rained, and its hard to beat that refreshing feeling. And post-rain, everything is so green and fresh and clean.
Over the past 8 months, I’ve increased my work commute rather dramatically and drive about an hour each way every day. I am so grateful for my wonderful carpool buddy! Not only does it cut down on gas costs, but she’s such a lovely person to process the day with. Today we did a lot of giggling about our crazy students. Love it!
This evening, when I was taking my (stubborn) puppy for a walk, I struck up a conversation with a fellow puppy owner, who noticed I was having problems getting my puppy to walk. She gave me a treat to try to entice him with, which did the trick. She went on her way - but returned to the park ten minutes later with a big bag of the same treats! I was really touched by that. And managed, with the bag of treats in hand, to get my dog to (mostly) walk gracefully back to my building. :)
Me starting a new book. Doesn’t it just feel like you’ve already accomplished something when you decide which wonderful book to start next? Out of all the piles of books I was able to pick THIS one. Exciting isn’t it?
From the talented Nina Cosford and her book, “My Name is Girl.” This little page was my inspiration for this tumblr attempt. I see the world as a shitty place too often. Yes, some of it is shitty but much more of it is awesome. My goal is to share at least one wonderful thing, one rose-coloured bit of something to be grateful for each day. Share yours along the way!
