THISSS lol. I love Gustav. I found his admiration for the riders cute! There was no reason to shove him off —at least in RTTE. They didn’t want to take the time to teach him wholeheartedly. Judging from the neglect from his mom, Gustav definitely needed an outlet.

call me controversial but i fancy myself a gustav defender. if the riders had just taken the time to train gustav early on, he wouldn't have ended up so annoying. He'd be better in battle, and he'd have quite a strong bond with his dragon! I know he was a little too young in Riders of Berk but that was really the perfect time to get started with his training. maybe he wouldn't be constantly acting out looking for the riders' approval if they'd treated him like the passionate learner he was at the time. and they're no better in rtte honestly. Gustav was 16 when he was reintroduced in that show. Hiccup and the other riders were all younger than that when they had their start, but they still considered Gustav too young and immature—which, again, could have been avoided if they'd just trained him in the first place.

I’ve been thinking too long about a oneshot I need to write.

Imagine that at the end of HTTYD 2, Hiccup and Toothless remain frozen in the Bewilderbeast’s ice formation. Berk is forced to move on —who knows what happens to them.

Years into the future, in modern times, excavators (or whoever goes around looking for lost cultures and histories) discover Berk (or whatever’s left of it), realizing that there’s something trapped inside the ice that never melted. Sort of like a Captain America thing, where boom, they’re both alive somehow.

Now, Hiccup not only has to face the fact that everyone and everything he loved is gone (besides Toothless), but he’s now engaging with strangers who look too different, speak a foreign language, and want to study him in any way possible.

I don’t know why I’ve found that idea so interesting, but I need to do research about language barriers, some legalities, and whatever else would make the story feel “real enough”.

Fishlegs is definitely a great listener and offers good, practically advice if asked (or even if you don’t ask; but he knows when to keep his mouth shut too).

While Hiccup also is a great listener, don’t catch him tinkering with something bc I’m so sure he’d be too distracted to multitask like that.

Snotlout: Yeah so I’m pretty sure my dad just hates my life.

Hiccup: Uh huh (working on Toothless’ tail fin)

Snotlout: And he genuinely thinks I’m a waste of space most of the time.

Love how Hiccup’s prosthetic leg has saved him so many times.

- Caught in a bear trap on the Reaper ship in RTTE

- Has been used as a weapon in RoB (and probably other times i can’t remember off the top of my head)

-Has been used to climb up an icy cliff in a life or death situation in RTTE

- Has been used twice to drop enemies (RTTE & HTTYD 3)

I’m sure I forgot some other useful times.

Snotlout got burned again thanks to Hookfang, his vest is still smoldering and his back took the worst of it. Fishlegs is treating the burns while Snotlout keeps talking nonstop. Moments like this make it strangely easy for him to open up, and Fishlegs is the best listener, quiet, attentive, and always helping him sort things out
