Vintage
Pairing: Ben Hardy x Reader
AN: A song fic request from @oopsshitfuck. I went with Ben on this one. I had never heard this song before, but now, I can’t lie, I love it. I was super excited to write this one! Hope you like it 😊
Song: ‘Vintage’ by NIKI
Warnings: Drinking, suggestive material
You hadn’t seen him in almost a year. Regardless of how amicable the breakup had been, with both of your busy schedules, you had never had the chance of running into each other. At first, you thought that he was an illusion. You had just been telling your friends about how you had seen his newest movie. It was amazing, but he always did things 110%. That included the way that he looked tonight.
You saw him as soon as he walked through the door, flanked by two of the other guys you recognized from his movie. His blonde hair was slicked back and he was wearing a plain white t-shirt and a black jacket. He was mid-laugh at something one of his friends had said, making his entire face light up. You politely excused yourself from your group of friends and started moving in his direction.
You were just a few feet away when his eyes landed on you, and he stopped dead in his tracks. His friends turned curiously to see what the holdup was, and his previously wide smile grew even larger.
“Wow, YN. Is it really you?” He asked excitedly, his feet moving again, this time rapidly towards you. You squealed as he wrapped his arms around your waist and lifted you into the air, your own arms wrapping around his neck.
“Oh Ben, it’s so nice to see you! How have you been?” Your feet were now firmly back on the ground, but his hands were still resting on your hips. He was gazing at you in amazement, still unsure if you were really standing right in front of him.
“I’ve been good, real good. How about you?”
“Busy, but good! I just saw your new movie. You make a great Roger Taylor.” You teased, reaching up to straight the collar of his jacket subconsciously. You noticed that his arms and chest looked a little more toned than before, and you had to swallow the thoughts that formed in your mind. A smirk formed on his lips as he noticed your actions, and then turned to the other guys who had arrived with him.
“Thanks! This is Gwilym and Joe. Or you may know them as Brian and Deacy.” The two men gave you a smile and a wave and you did the same. Your attention didn’t wander from Ben for too long, turning to take in his face once again. “You look great.”
You could feel yourself flush at his words.
“I could say the same about you.”
Ben grinned. Gwilym and Joe immediately caught on that the two of you had some catching up to do, and they disappeared into the crowd, leaving you alone.
“Do you want a drink?” He asked, leaning closer so that you could hear him over the music that had started playing louder. You nodded, and the two of you made your way to the bar. You were able to find two empty barstools, and you sat down as Ben ordered your drinks. Once he had the drinks in hand, he turned back to you and slid yours towards you. “It’s funny that I ran into you tonight. I was just going through my phone and found some pictures of us.”
You quirked your eyebrow at him, as he pulled his phone out of his jacket pocket. You wrapped your lips around your straw to take a drink, but when he turned the screen towards you, you almost spit it out across the counter. It was a picture of the two of you from near the end of your relationship making obnoxious faces while sitting in your living room. Even while you were laughing, you felt a tug in your chest at the memory.
“I can’t believe you still have those.” You giggled, as he slipped his phone back into his pocket.
“I couldn’t really get myself to delete them.” He replied quietly, taking a sizeable drink of his beer. You watched his face, butterflies starting to erupt in your stomach. Over the next hour, the two of you just chatted, catching up on everything that the other had missed. He told you all about his new projects coming up, and you told him about all the work that you were getting ready to start on.
Talking with him was so comfortable and it was almost like you hadn’t spent any time apart at all. The only difference was, as you looked into his bright green eyes, you couldn’t remember why the two of you had broken it off in the first place. The way he looked, and more importantly, the way that he was looking at you now, caused your memory to go blank.
“Do you want to dance?” You asked, as you finished off the third drink that Ben had bought you. Your body was buzzing now, and you could tell that he was feeling it too. He gave you a cheeky grin as he nodded and sculled back the last of his beer. You reached out to grab his hand and then pulled him towards the crowds of people dancing. His hands quickly found your hips, pulling you against him as the two of you swayed to the music. One of his hands moved up to brush a strand of hair out of your face and your heart jumped.
“Have I told you yet how much I love this dress?” Ben asked, ducking his head to whisper it against your ear. Your entire body was on fire now as his hand moved slowly from your hip, nearing the hem of your dress. The hand that he had used to fix your hair was still hovering near your neck and his face was only inches from yours. You shook your head, and a light laugh fell from his lips, his breath hot against your cheek. A shiver shot down your spine and you pulled back just a little.
The longer you spent on the dancefloor, the more you could feel yourself being pulled back in. Ben’s wandering hands told you that he was feeling the same way you were, but you were trying to fight it. Even in your hazy state of mind, you tried to remind yourself that the two of you had called it off for a reason. But he looked so good, and the looks he was giving you were becoming too much.
A slow song had started playing, and Ben’s hand had found a home against your lower back, keeping you pulled tight against his side. Your heart was still beating rapidly, and you knew that he could probably feel it with how close you were to each other. One of your hands was resting easily on his shoulder, and the other one had slid under his jacket as you gripped the edge of his shirt near his waist.
“It’s only been a year, but I had forgotten how good this feels.” You murmured, breaking the silence that had fallen between you. You hadn’t meant to speak the words out loud, but they just tumbled out of your mouth. Ben’s eyes fell to yours, and he gave you a devilish smile.
“Well, let me help you remember.” He replied, as the hand that wasn’t on your lower back cupped your cheek and pulled your lips in to meet his. The way his lips still moved perfectly against yours sent a wave of goosebumps across your skin. Every feeling that you had felt for him in the past came rushing back, and you couldn’t breathe. You had missed him, and judging by his heated kisses, he had missed you too.
You pulled away, just enough that you could breathe, and Ben quickly chased your lips with his. After a few more passionate kisses, you finally pressed your hands against his chest, putting a small amount of distance between the two of you. Ben hummed in annoyance at not having you pressed against him, and you noticed that his hand had moved farther down your dress to grip your thigh.
“If we’re going to take this trip down memory lane, I suggest we go somewhere a little more… private?” You suggested, still trying to catch your breath. When your eyes met Ben’s, they had darkened considerably.
“I couldn’t agree more.” He replied huskily. He grabbed your hand in his tightly, and then pulled you in the direction of the bathrooms. You laughed to yourself at the fact that it wasn’t exactly what you had in mind, but he moved like he was on a mission.
You knew that the two of you weren’t together anymore, and the idea of rekindling the relationship between the two of you didn’t seem likely. However, you didn’t see anything wrong with a little reminiscing.
