The sight of this mocking display renders him speechless for a time, but it doesn’t last for long. Blinking, the real Thor starts to move towards his double, stretching an arm forward so as to touch the illusion, but aborts the effort. “Loki, what is the meaning of this?” Had bitter feelings remained about the order of succession? Such seemed to be the case, in his view, anyway. “Please stop this, you know that I’ve changed since then.”

“Alas, I lack the wit and cleverness to understand what you’ve said. I am the mighty Thor-- Prince of Asgard. My ego far exceeds the size of my form.” He puffed his chest out, letting out a boastful laugh. Though seeing his brother’s face contort in such a way didn’t bring him nearly as much satisfaction as he’d hoped.

With a wave of light he changed back, pouting.

“Certainly-- you’ve changed.” The remark was entirely sarcastic. “Yet you continue to follow me around like some dog. Do you believe I fear death? I’m living on borrowed time as it is, brother.”

Indeed-- he had come from another timeline, if the Loki of this reality had died years ago, it stood to reason that Death would come for him, in time.

His home was gone, his people mere fishmongers-- and his mother--

There was nothing for him. Not here. Not anywhere.

“ Oh  I  figured  that  out  already,  that’s  why  I  made  it  extra  strong.  I’m  sure  one  way  or  another  we  work  through  that  tolerance  you’ve  got  going  on,  right? I’m  hopefully.  I  don’t  fail  at  much,  unless  you  count  Ultron  and.. that’s beside  the  point. ”  

Tony  smirked  as  he  swallowed  a  mouthful  of  his  own  drink  and  sat  himself  down  next  to  Loki.  He  begged  to  differ  he  liked  to  think  a  large  amount  of  alcohol  might  eventually  take  affect.  “ I  think I  probably  have  some  of  your  brothers  stuff  somewhere,  I  could  always  try  and  find  it.  Really  I  just  wanted  to  get  you  alone. ”  Tony  winked  at  Loki. 

“ So  if  alcohol  isn’t  going  to  work  how  else  can  I  woo  you,  huh? ”

The drink was indeed strong-- Loki would handle it out of pure stubbornness. Though overall he tended to prefer sweeter flavors. He was surprised the man of iron was getting so close to him. Certainly he was aware of how dangerous and formidable Loki could be?

Perhaps he had a taste for danger.

He permitted the charming attempts at flirtation-- as curiosity was getting the better of him. He responded well to Stark’s confidence-- finding it interesting. Loki loathed those who’d just roll over the moment someone challenged them. Where was the fun in conquering there?

The Asgardian took another long drink, adjusting his position to a more relaxed one, leaning in with a smirk upon his features.

“Perhaps you could try some of that human charm. My brother was easily won over by some Midgardian maiden-- obviously there must be something to you.”

i will never not love the sibling dynamic between thor and loki like holy fuck thor LOVES his brother and would do anything for him and loki is a guarded little shit marred by a LOT of fuck-ups and an inferiority complex but he’d DIE for his brother.

not that he’d ever admit that out loud.

the reason loki let himself die in infinity war was so he wouldn’t have to watch thor go before him. he couldn’t stand to lose another member of his family.

HE  FELL  TO  HIS  KNEES  the  very  moment  Anthony  Edward  Stark  exhaled  his  last  breath .  The  battle  was  over ,  the  dust  around  them  marking  their  victory ,  and  yet  there  was  no  cheering .  He  could  hear  the  crying  nearby .  HE  HAD  DONE  THAT .  He  couldn’t  move ;  if  this  was the  cost  of  winning ,  he  didn’t  wanted  it .  He  had  never  seen  this  far  on  his  views  of  the  alternative  timelines ,  he  never  even  imagined —

He  felt  someone  coming  closer ,  reality  bringing  him  back  to  the  present ,  but  his  body ,  still  unresponsive ,  stayed  still ,  kneeling  on  the  dust .  ❝ We won ❞  he  said  in  a  whisper  to  the  newcomer ,  his  watery  eyes  glued  to  the  figure  of  Iron–Man .

He wasn’t certain how to handle such things-- quite honestly, Loki was at an absolute loss on how to behave around allies. He was thankful to have been brought back with the rest of his people-- and was more than eager to avoid his brother, who would undoubtedly be overzealous in his affections.

He recalled the loss of his mother-- and later his father. Losing those one cared about was challenging, even as a god.

“I am-- sorry for your loss. He was a good man.” He flinched slightly before slowly placing a hand upon the shoulder of the Sorcerer Supreme.

“Tony Stark is a hero-- a place of honor awaits him in Valhalla, as it does all warriors.” Perhaps a bit of faith would soothe the burn.

Loki  misinterpreting  what  he’d  said  came  as  no  surprise,  in  fact  Tony  found  himself  smirking.  “ Guess  I  should  have  seen  that  coming,  huh? ”  When  his  gaze  lifted  to  the  trickster  there  was  the  hint  of  a  smile  on  his  lips.  “ But  I  feel  bad  for  that  emperor,  I’m  sure  you  made  it  quick. ”  Tony  doubted  that  but  the  wink  he  shot  the  trickster  said  enough.

Mead  or  ale.  Whiskey  it  was.  Tony  grabbed  his  best  bottle  and  poured  it  into  the  glass  before  sliding  it  in  the  Gods  direction.  “  That  should  take  the  edge  off  and  help  you  relax  a  little.  You  always  look  tense. ”  

“I made it memorable.” There was certainly something sinister about the way he spoke-- he trusted Stark was perceptive enough to understand the meaning behind his tone. He was one of the more intelligent among these monkey-brained mortals, but the Asgardian didn’t want to assume too much.

He took the glass in hand, bringing it to his nose to smell prior to consumption.

“You should know-- I’ve built up an immunity to Midgardian poisons.” He tossed out that little tidbit of information, just in case the Man of Iron was thinking about revenge instead of friendship.

“This? Take the edge off? Allow me to assuage your concern. Your alcohol has no affect on men like me. Certainly you’d know this by now, having broken bread with my brother.”

Just because he and Thor were making nice for now, didn’t mean he intended to play nice forever.

reminder that loki is 6′2″ with nerves of steel and he could beat down most of the avengers if he so desired. he even gives thor a run for his money-- and he’s the [so-called] ‘strongest avenger’.

They would be terrible and toxic together-- probably worse than Loki with the Grandmaster. Kal has no qualms about crushing humans under foot-- and Loki is of the same mentality.

The only thing I could see getting in the way are their egos-- both parties think they’re superior to the other, which could make for some rough waters.
