Sheila & Pariston #1 (Sonnet)

With eyes opaquely dark and two-faced heart,  I stumble from one tragedy to yet  Another family that’s torn apart  By boundaries dividing life and death.  I hunt as Dino Hunter did before  For meaning to sustain a gray morale,  With any allies made discarded for  My game as damages collateral.  I see a sparkling-suited man upon  A passing glance at mirrors warped and tall;  The child with rat-infested home is gone,  Replaced by Rodent Zodiac who wins all. 

          This urge to jeopardize all that I love            Is the sole mask that fits me like a glove.

Alluka & Nanika #1 (Sonnet)

This bang-bang game with brother is so fun,  (For Killua can act out any scene.)  He vanishes his head before my gun,  (The same way I can disappear a spleen.)  I feel safe when I’m gathered in his arms,  Unlike when I’m imprisoned in home’s vaults.  (My eyes that crack with static are alarms,  But in his gaze I’m cursed with zero faults.)  We flee from family with godly speed  And rush toward the deathbed of his friend.  (He grants my every wish and every need —  Now, in return, Gon’s body I shall mend.) 

          In sleep, he keeps my shadow company;            (On waking, he sets my reflection free.)

Kalluto #2 (Sonnet)

With paper fans tucked in kimono sleeves  And tabi slipped in sandals, lacquered wood,  Alight from ringed volcano through the leaves  Of trees concealing estate as they should.  While family takes precedence in all,  On certain days, forget you’re one of five,  Component of a unit, and recall  You’re human, with your wants and needs — alive.  Vacation is the order of the hour;  Your bookstores and your libraries await.  Confectioneries can create from flour  Desserts that trigger a euphoric state. 

          Though training breaks are shorter than you’d hope,            They are the best ways that you’ve learned to cope.
