OFTEN MISINTERPRETED
My classmate, who is also my friend, is often misunderstood because of the tone of her voice. She told me her experience before. When covid still didn't exist, face to face classes were adapted and group activities were given often to the class.
My friend, together with her groupmates started talking about their plans for their presentation. She also had her ideas so she started voicing out her thoughts for their presentation. She told me she noticed their reactions after she started talking. She then realized she was getting misunderstood since its happened to her numerous times . She's told me that the reactions of her groupmates were not new to her and she thought that maybe they think she's angry.
As her friend, I somehow understand the others thinking she might be angry, lol.
Seriously though, if you don't know her, you need to get used to the tone of her voice so that you won't misunderstand. I also think that they might have missed my friend's intention just because of her tone. I can't blame them for misunderstanding her, but I believe there are ways on how to understand others in a more better way, a way to effectively communicate.
I believe they could have asked her so she can clarify her thoughts and ensure her points about their presentation. Nonetheless, I think both parties were lacking the skills for effective communication but considering it happened almost 2 years ago, I would like to assume their knowledge about communication is growing. 🤣🤷♀️
What are your thoughts about this?
