On October 16, 2017, disaster shook a Bidnija neighborhood sometime between 2:35pm and 3:00pm. Firey shrapnel of a Peugeot 108 flew, ricocheted, and eventually scattered across several nearby fields. The owner? She was found by her son more than 87 yards away from the blasts epicenter. Her name was Daphne Caruana Galizia-- Malta's most famous journalist, who had been embroiled in an investigation into the connection of (and corrupt benefit from) her nation's leaders to the Panama Papers. Her murder and subsequent investigation is still mulled over to this day, and her work lives on.
