Charlotte Fosgate: Missing Trans Teen Died By Suicide In Portland, OR

"It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we share the passing of Charlotte Fosgate, a 17-year-old from Oak Grove, Oregon, who left this world on May 2, 2025. She jumped off the bridge to commit suicide.

"Charlotte was a vibrant and creative teenager navigating life as a transgender girl in a world that too often failed to show her the kindness she so deeply deserved. She was last seen on the evening of May 1 and reported missing soon after. Her final public messages, posted the next morning, offered a heartbreaking farewell from a high bridge—an image that now haunts everyone who knew and cared for her.

"Charlotte’s tweets, which quietly said goodbye—'it’s a pretty view' and 'long way down'—were viewed millions of times in the hours after her death. But what should have been a space for grief and remembrance became a mirror of society’s cruelty. The response from parts of the internet was callous, transphobic, and dehumanizing—a tragedy in its own right.

"But Charlotte was not a joke. She was not content. She was a child—a daughter, a friend, a soul in pain who still smiled, still shared jokes, still had dreams. She loved art, music, and expressing herself online in the only ways she felt safe. Charlotte had so much left to do, so much left to say, and so much love left to give.

"Charlotte lived in a world where being different often meant being targeted. She lived in a society that criminalized her identity and vilified her truth. Yet through all of that, she dared to be herself. That, in itself, was an act of courage.

"Her death is not just a personal loss, but a societal failure—a reminder of the urgent need for compassion, mental health care, and safety for transgender youth. According to national data, transgender teens like Charlotte face staggering rates of depression, rejection, and suicide. But none of it is inevitable. Every life lost is one we could have saved."

Help Asmaa and her husband find shelter in Gaza, along with other needs

I'm creating a post for my friend Asmaa, who's a Palestinian woman living in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip. She's currently surviving with her ill husband and her unborn child, meaning she is pregnant. Her and her husband will need treatment due to illness, and all of them need a place to shelter safely for now so they can be safe, especially during the birth of Asmaa's child and while keeping the couple safe. Najah and Khaled never thought that they would be in such a position to be asking for help in this way.

But in the face of utter destruction in Gaza, they strive to provide the best circumstances possible for their big family of six amidst such devastation.

Their home is now a tent that scarcely provides them any comfort or shelter. It is not a place where they know their children can dream away happily, it is a stark reminder of all of their hardships. They dream of fleeing Gaza, but for now, your donation will go towards giving their children something healthy to eat and somewhere relatively safe to sleep as this sweet family continues to face the hardest situations of their lives.

They are campaigning for £80,000; $25,000 of which is necessary to evacuate (As Najah explains on their GoFundMe page: $10,000 will cover the family's eviction fees, $2,500 will to register my their six children, $15,000 to cover fees and expenses for their children, and $1,000 to help cover our travel and transportation expenses.) The rest of the money will be used to help this large family survive and rebuild their lives from scratch.

Their campaign is moving slowly, so we implore you to help us change that.

Help affording hormone blockers

Hey. Im Jan, otherwise known as Chaqui. Im a trans individual from Chile. Soon I will need to buy & inject my hormone blockers. My friend @hamadagaza-2003 and I made an agreement to make a post telling all of you from tumblr to help him and his family get breakfast in the morning during every day left of Ramadan, which are 27 more days, and he tells me an early meal for all of his family and him is around 40$, which would make every breakfast of the next month round up to a total of 1100$, it would be ideal to reach this amount by either today or tomorrow, at Most the following days, he needs to feed his family when theyre not fasting for Ramadan so this goal is very urgent.

in general i find ppl generally underestimate how organized online transmisogyny is, as well as the sophistication of strategy. this gets attributed to just staff or just a few users and they are involved for sure but like i mean it when i say there are entire chatrooms and forums dedicated to cataloguing and gangstalking transfems on socmed and have been for well over a decade. for instance, if you have ever posted a selfie on here anytime in the last decade or more as a transfem who interacts with any other transfems, your selfies are most likely in an lchat thread dedicated to tearing them apart and viciously mocking them and sending anon hate to the users who post them. and that's just the tip of the iceberg. i've known transfems to be serially stalked irl by ppl in these kinds of circles. etc. underestimate transmisogynist organization at your own peril

thats the thing thats missing from america-centric discussion of fascism: this shit is global. every country in “the west” is seeing the same rise of fascism in real time, all of it focused on murdering migrants. like giorgia meloni is campaigning to deport people to “migrant camps” in albania. last year the greek coast guard outright drowned a boat of 500 asylum seekers. and as that last post said im not dismissing the suffering of people within the US, i’m just saying its so supremely frustrating that every conversation is about the minutiae of american domestic policy and not the horrifying ultranationalist global trend scapegoating arabs and africans.
