James hadn’t gotten the memo that there was a slave escape happening until he got to the cells. He had just been looking for someone to rent out, and he had entered in on a mess. The place was complete chaos, mostly outdoors, as people ran like chickens without heads. But inside, he saw a sight quite different.
He saw a woman crawling carefully not far from what he assume had been her cell. He kneeled down to her level. “Need some help there, lil’ miss?” He found the entire thing almost amusing. But he had to wonder why this one didn’t seem to be trying to hard to run.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Georgia had made an effort not to leave the low quality ‘comfort’ of her cot for the most part, not wanting to waste her time bumping around and risk being caught outside in the chaos. But on her way to refill her cup with water from the rusted sink inside the cell, she’d done just that, and felt her way around until hitting a wall and winding up on the ground.
An exasperated cross between a sigh and a groan left her throat as she lifted herself to all fours, head turning in attempt to smell where she was going. “Fuck.” The voice from nearby came unexpectedly, bringing her to jerk in her fragile state. “Yeah, if you can give me my fucking sight back.”

“This is so fucking unfair” he let out an angry sigh, he didn’t usually swore, but he was just so pissed off, he hated that they took away his hearing and other slaves’ five senses, it wasn’t fair with them “I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that they’re punishing us for what someone else did”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Don’t sound so surprised.” All of this life was unfair, this occurrence only a step up from usual — albeit a large step. “Of course not— Doesn’t usually happen, but they’re not above much... What’d someone else do?” Surely there was just a matter of time before she never heard the end of it, whatever it was, but for now, she was in the dark in more ways than one. “Fucking idiots.”

“You’re preaching to the choir, sister.” Lana sighed, hand on the stone wall outside the cells but only having been able to pass the first one that was beside the one she was in. Making her other senses take over in place of her eyesight. The sounds coming from outside were horrifying and Lana wasn’t too sure how long all of this would take to settle down, surely it wouldn’t last that long– there were a lot of powerful beings here. “Hey, wanna see if we can’t get shit faced? It would probably make this whole blind thing better— or at least, for a little while.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"I know.” The choir was practically anyone that wasn’t a witch, after all. While the voice had come from outside the cell, as far as she could tell, the response seemed like that of a slave. “What— Are you blind too? What the fuck’s going on?” Georgia had yet to put two and two together and recall the escape plans being whispered around in the last few weeks. She shrugged, not one to turn down any form of shitfaced-ness when presented with the opportunity. “Sure. You got anything?”

“No, take the boats, you idiot,” Bailey snapped, losing her patience. Her eyes narrowed in disappointment and disgust. Now that she saw how few of these slaves were willing to even try, she regretted not just taking Violet and Alice and sneaking off. They could have been on a boat before anybody even knew what was wrong. But Bailey had wasted time on these babies who would rather sit in their cages and whine. “Fine,” she said, dropping the girl’s hand and turning to leave the cell.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Same shit, you cunt. You don’t even know where we are in the world, how the fuck are you just gonna sail your way to freedom? And that’s if you even get to a boat.” She had no navigation, presumably no knowledge of sailing, or survival, either. Even if she got lucky and found land eventually, that didn’t guarantee it’d be anywhere good. “Fine,” she shrugged back, resting her wrist back on her stomach. “Enjoy isolation and all the other fun shit you have coming.”

Why he started in the cells was beyond him, it was the closest thing he was to at the time of the break out– Matthias supposed getting a count of bodies that were left would leave him a better deduction of figuring out who all was left to return to the cells. He shouldn’t have been out there chasing these idiots, of course he thought himself above chasing down slaves, but seeing as he was a guest in this place, title and head of the manor aside, Matthias was not above showing respect to those who deserved it.
His head turned with a statement he’d caught, just a flippant and irritated statement but one that caught his attention none the less. “Is that so? What a shame for it seems the only one who could help you quickly now is a witch.” Matthias returned, not entirely caring what the state these slaves were in. He would have picked a different spell but then again, he did not own the island.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The deep voice was one she’d heard a handful of times by now. Matthias. She had no hard feelings against him, in fact, he was one of the witches she trusted above others, but there was no changing her frame of mind at the moment. Witches were capable of too much and had never resisted flaunting that to her in the worst ways.
“And they’re still the ones who got me like this to begin with.” She did straighten up a little though, turning attentively to the man’s general direction. “It’s not like you or anyone else would help me,” if he even could, that was, “So what’s your point?” Her speech still came out harshly, conveying her hostility, yet it didn’t direct itself at him.

She was still watching the girl even as she spoke up. So she still had taste and hearing apparently. Picking up the crystal, Frankie shook her head. “Precaution,” she said, adding more quietly, “ and fair warning.” From the lines of our, the guards hasn’t been to friendly to ant slave. Acting up or otherwise. Closing her eyes, she placed her hands over the map that she had laid out and slowly stood, mentally bidding the paper to do the same. It followed her to standing height and began turning as she held the crystal over it. Glancing over at the woman, she nodded, committing the comment to memory. “Documentation. Body count. Who ill have to deal with tomorrow.” Her words came out quickly as the jewel spun faster. “I cant reverse the spell. Not my doing. But if you wait patiently, in sure it’ll wear off on its own.” She stopped talking as the crystal dropped on the square outside of the vampire manor. Suspending the amethyst , she pulled out her phone and shot a text. VAMPIRE MANOR. 3 COUNT. MOVING. -FF With another glance at the woman, she sighed. “Do you happen to know who came up with this great scheme?”

“Am I not supposed to move at all anymore?” What the fuck did precaution and fair warning have to do with anything she did inside her cell, during this time or any other? None of the woman’s other explanations made much sense to her either, and rather than bothering with any kind of follow up, she just shrugged, giving a small, frustrated growl. “Doesn’t mean you can’t undo it. What the fuck do I need to be blind for?” Couldn’t they at least have only cast it on the ones that had made it out of the cells? “Great. Thanks. I’ll be patient, great advice.” Her tone was flooded with irate sarcasm.
The question of who exactly had made this plan all and brought it all together made her pause. She had to figure it’d been Lee, since she’d been the one to try pulling her out, but hadn’t bothered to find out much more detail. Either way, as furious as she was at the vampire for dragging the whole island into this, snitching would never be her style unless it directly and clearly benefited her. “Nope.” Why would I tell you?

“Shit, are you okay?!” They had automatically straighten up and become aware when they heard the crash and the cursing that came afterwards. “I take it you’re also blind? God, I’m so sorry. I didn’t. I heard whispers about it but I knew that it was foolish to even try. You didn’t try also?” They began to wonder who was the leader and who all had been a part of it. Sure, they also wished to leave, who doesn’t? But no one can leave. They can try but it’s practically suicidal.
Tumblr media
“Yeah.” She’d have to get used to this, and definitely stop moving much at all. If the hour outside the cells was happening at all during the commotion, it wouldn’t be anything she’d be able to take much advantage of. “I am— I think they did some shit like that to everyone, but some people can’t talk or hear or whatever instead. Too bad I didn’t get that instead.” How nice would temporary deafness have been? “No, it’s fucking stupid. If anyone could make it off the island, no one would be here right now. This is what happens.”

He winced as soon as he realized his mistake, forgetting that she was a werewolf and sensed things greater than humans do. He crouched before her, gently tapping the back of her hand. He was trying to figure out how to communicate with her, and hoping that she wouldn’t hit him in the process.
Tumblr media
The contact with her hand also made her flinch before its gentleness made sense. The all too familiar cell had become disoriented to her, and she couldn’t tell if the hand had come from inside or outside the bars. The cells could’ve still been open for all she knew. “Who are you?”

“H-Hey…” Jolene called out, hoping that a kind soul was nearby. “Do… Do you have any water? Or some whiskey or vodka? My throat and sides are killing me…” They still looked bruised up from the guards that beat her up earlier for defending another slave. The blind siren was beyond thirsty but had the feeling that the guards would rather let them become dehydrated than give them something to drink.
Tumblr media
“Water? I might—” Georgia shrugged, sitting up and reaching towards what she hoped would be where she kept her things under the bed — food, water, little things she stole or earned once in a while. Instead, she leaned to far and rolled the foot or so from the cot to the hard ground, landing on some of her ribs. “Fuck’s sake.” She settled onto her back and paused there defeatedly. “Whiskey or vodka? I fucking wish... Didn’t try to escape, did you?” How soon would those who had be caught?

Seeing Georgia filled Spencer with relief and he tried to speak to her. He tried to say hello, but nothing came out. Right… The witches cast a spell that caused the slaves to lose one of their senses. And it appeared that Georgia lost her sight. Well, this can’t go wrong! Spencer knocked twice on the wall to signal that he was there.
Tumblr media
The sharp knock on the wall vibrated through it to where the werewolf was leaned up against it. She lurched forward, startled. Everything had the capability to set her on edge right now. “What?” Her head whipped in the direction from which the sound had came from, but naturally it was no use.

“This is absolutely ridiculous,” Frankie complained as she pulled on her jacket and followed the guard down to the cells. “How in the hell do you lose that many slaves. What were you doing? Screwing them?” Of course she got no answer. She could have been sleeping. And to add on top of her loss of sleep, there were probably going to be a shit ton of slaves in the infirmary tomorrow. Either from injuries regarding the spell- or their punishment. Her gaze swept the cells, noting the ones that had been full just a couple hours earlier.
Stopping at one that still held a resident, she shooed the guard and watched the girl. She couldn’t tell what she was doing, but that didn’t stop her from speaking up. “Be still. Your senses are gone and if you keep roaming around like that, your sure to hurt yourself.” It wouldn’t be any use if her sense of hearing was gone. But then again she’d see her sooner or later.
Dropping to her knees, the witch set to work pulling out her tools. “Which of your senses is gone?” she asked the slave as she set up her work station.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Knowing almost exactly what the ordeal was about now, Georgia hoped it’d be dealt with soon so she could get her vision back. Of all things to lose, why couldn’t it have been her hearing or feeling or anything else like the other slaves? At least then she could’ve taken advantage of her cell being open and went about the island, even if her hopes for escaping had evaporated years ago.
So she stayed in bed like she had since she’d woken up, occasionally swearing to herself or whoever was around — there wasn’t an easy way of telling. When the voice rang through from a few feet away with a vaguely unfamiliar scent, she rolled her sightless eyes and sighed. “I am still. Or are you blind now too?” Of course it was rhetorical, as she figured the woman wasn’t a slave and therefore hadn’t been affected by the spells. Or maybe everyone had; that much she wasn’t sure of.
“My sight. What the fuck does it matter?” The slave huffed. “Can’t you just close my cell and let me fucking see again?”

“I’m busting us out,” she said, letting out a sigh of frustration as she watched Georgia wiggle away. “Come on, I don’t have time to convince you, so you’re either leaving with us or staying here. The guards are gone, the cell is open, and we’re all heading for the docks.” But when Georgia said she couldn’t see, it stopped Bailey from finishing the rest of her prepared speech. “…You can’t see? I can’t… Fuck.” She grabbed Georgia’s hand. “They know; we have to go.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Good luck.” It wasn’t like she could see anything around her, but it seemed Bailey had been more successful so far than Georgia would ever expect. If anyone could do it, it’d probably be the blonde. Yet that didn’t mean she’d actually make it off the island. “Gone? They’re not fucking gone. Just not in the cells.” There was a world of difference between escaping the cells and escaping slavery. “Then what? You’re gonna swim into oblivion?” She scoffed, flinching again as the contact moved to her hand. “Like I said, I can’t see and you’re not gonna get anywhere. Leave me the fuck out of it, ‘m already blind 'cause of you.”

“Jesus Christ, Georgia,” Bailey muttered. She’d come to flush out the stragglers, though she didn’t know why she bothered, and now she couldn’t feel the floor beneath her feet or even the werewolf’s shoulder beneath her hand. “Get up. We’re getting the fuck out of here, but you need to hurry.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She jumped at the voice calling her name, soon recognizing it as Bailey’s. Her neck craned up as if it’d reveal the woman to her eyes, but of course she still saw nothing as the hand landed on her shoulder and she pulled away, back hitting the wall. “What the fuck—” Georgia had only heard briefly about the plans of escape, and never thought they’d actually come to be, so she’d thought nothing of it. “I can’t fucking see, sounds like a pretty shit idea. What the fuck’s happening?”

She snorted as she heard the crash, followed by the mumble of pain. “What’d you do?” Georgia made no effort to get up, knowing it’d probably do more harm than good. “Jesus, have you never been in a room with the lights off? Looks fuck all like this.”

It was always dim in the cells, but when Georgia opened her eyes today, there was more to it than that. Even pitch dark was an understatement. She blinked a few times, confirming that her sight really was gone, then threw her head back with a growl. As irate as she was, she wasn’t surprised. “God, I fucking hate witches." She took a deep breath, figuring she’d have to rely on her keen nose to tell her who surrounded her until this was dealt with, yet a moment of attempting this also told her the cells were near empty. Or she’d lost her scent, too. Fuck knew what was going on.
