The child isn’t lost. All the holy halls are hers—and their ornaments, the long bones all agleam, the friendly polished skulls. Her minders murmur it, eyes down, while combing her lustrous hair. Now that she can walk, she can walk anywhere. None prevent her. None follow. She can even toddle into the dark rooms, where the skulls are on spikes, not in coffers, and still sloughing their stinking faces.
She’s not alone. She isn’t lost. Her small face tightens, then twists up.
Behind the child, the darkness slithers and stirs.
“I see you, sweetmeat,” croaks a voice like a closet of nails. From the dark comes a scrabble; a clank; a long, damp breath like a death-rasp. “I hear your heart-juice.”
The child stills, uncertain, breathing hard. She clutches her best toy, which is bright and sharp and bad to chew. Then she frowns, distracted, at the wet ache in her hand. She’s holding the wrong end again—
Hands like strong spiders snatch her. A huff of crypt-air crawls down the child’s neck. “Shall I bite off your nose, my bodkin?”
The child squeals and squirms, forgetting the pain and the dark. Her tall, laughing shadow disarms her, tosses her toy aside, catches her kicking feet in teeth as sharp as they are familiar.
“My marrow,” croons Bhaal’s spawn, his creature, his dark urge: her hair atangle, her smile all red, her breath rotten and reassuring. Her strangling fingers tickle the child’s sides. “My morsel. My runny redling. I’ll eat you up!”
The child Orin shrieks with delight. Her sister growls, and grins, and nips her nose.

Florenta the Garroter - I know some might think her thin and whippy with that moniker, a strangler lurking in the shadows, but I can't help but imagine behind every big, mean woman is an even bigger even meaner woman. For Karlach - that's Flo.
Karlach here is still wearing her hair short and has both horns, probably just early enough into her time in Avernus that she's not quite fully proven herself, but knows better than to trust anyone. She's a fast learner. She's also got just above a grunt's level of infernal armor, patched together enough that it's starting to show her character (the design based purely on her concept art.)
Flo, like most cambions, would be low on the social pecking order of the hells. With their half-human heritage, they're seen as weak and inferior and have to work twice as hard for any (already precarious) social standing (explaining a lot why both Mizora and Raphael are like that (tm)). While a lot of cambions get into the common mortal soul-based wheeling and dealing of the hells (some of the main social clout as gold has little value outside of novelty and excess) to carve out something for themselves (making them frequent warlock patrons) I'd like to think Flo perhaps has a keener interest in flaunting her own strength serving under Zariel in the blood war. Surely, she seems mean enough to do so. She's by no means exempt from a culture of dangling something needed for a price in front of some sorry sod (such as offering soul coins to Karlach for the the price of tormenting her with the sad stories of their origin), but she's lethal with the garrote and strong enough to serve as a guard or front line fighter (which we also see is a common occupation for their type on the nautloid).

what do you know of loss?
no words for how much I adore these two characters and the ways their journeys parallel one another's... take this as part character study (what if they helped each other heal!) and part ship content (they were made for each other...) anyways. the shadowzel illness never stops
