First of all, I’d like this to be spread. Now, let’s start.

I’m going to talk about the hate and disrespectful stuff I’ve been seeing lately on the HTTYD fandom. I haven’t seen anything here but I wanted to share this here because I think people are more mature here than on Instagram.

Let’s start with the hate, mostly towards the villain of the last film, Grimmel the grisly. I’m a big fan of him and he’s maybe one of my favourite characters and this pisses me off. Why do people have to send hate or block people who like him? Everyone can love character they want, just because someone doesn’t like Hiccup, Astrid or Toothless doesn’t make them less fan. I can’t understand why people cannot respect each other opinions.

I’m honestly not a big fan of Astrid, and not because of that I’m sharing pics of her saying: “Ew, she’s the worst! I hate her!” It’s so childish of you. I respect if you like a character I hate and I respect if you don’t like a character I do, but why can’t people do the same?

I feel like all this hate comes from the fact that Grimmel hunted every Nigh Fury, but he has his reasons. They’re not good, of course, but he’s a villain, that’s what he’s supposed to do! I don’t want to extend this too much, but he basically killed one while it was sleeping, and that made him a hero on his village, so he decided to hunt every last one alive because he wanted people to live in peace. He thinks he does the right thing!

Another thing that’s bothering us is the art/edits/gif thieves. We’ve been dealing with them for so long and that makes artists leave the fandom! Apart of that, we’ve been dealing with spoilers without warnings EVERYWHERE, and I want to believe that kids did that, so they don’t understand that’s wrong.

To sum up, we’re not going to be here forever. You’re going to be 30 years old and you won’t have your HTTYD account, the time we are going to be here, we should be enjoying it instead of arguing with others for their favourite character. It’s like we need rules to be here; you must like the canon ship, the main characters and hate the villain, and, don’t mind me if I say this, a fandom is supposed to be a place where people can share their work of pictures of their favourite character without worrying about getting hate over them.

The HTTYD fandom could be a place full of joy and happiness and people don’t know where are we going into. As I said, please, share this. It’s important to open others’ eyes.
